In my opinion the technical writing is good, but the plot falls short by and leaves me feeling just bored. The topic could have been explored with greater context,. Cookie cutter stereotypes, no nuances in the characters story arc,, felt like I was being beaten over the head. Maybe it’s because I just read The Hunger Artist but this book could have been shorter and more focused in its delivery. Might sound strange but comparing this to The Boys graphic novel there is a lot more nuance in the interplay between the superpower heroes ie in this case the female s and society.

At some point of reading the first part got a little bored, but there was enough for me to return and ocntinue. The second part was way better. I thought the finalle, or the end, was poorly built up too. The case for the ending was not there, and it felt like a sort of fatalistic end with no actual reason. Besides the senator, other characters did not really bult it up for that case. Who cares about Moldova... Was very dissapointed in the ending. Sure, if there was a button to push to end the world, someone would do it, but that's not how it goes. The characters are depressed and sad, somewhat broken, but meh, they are not that influential, except the Senator and Eve. Still, if you look at which nations have the nukes, you would see that the case was weak. I lacked some rationalle and critical thinking behind it. Perhaps that female country could have grwon inside Russia or Pakistan or India - the nuclear states, that would have butlt up to something more realistic. I loved how Roxxy got a reality check, that was fantastic. Also Eve's call to her mother, that was flawless. The book showed so well what happens the too much power clouds critical thinking. When Roxxy's organ was removed, it was horrible, but she made the right conclusions. The journalist's trip was questionable. Senatr's daughter's trip to the factory felt like utter childness, despite her training in military camps at home, kiling a man, and working in a war-country. The journalist's meeting with Roxxy felt unnatural. All the characters tied in together at the end unnaturaly. Even Eve's and Roxy's meeting and all that was not good. I found that their solo stories were good and interestng, but the connections between them were weak and forced. The giggly, fnny male journalist was a hilarious and briliant idea. The shifting of power in most cases felt very natural and well thought. That was, without a doubt, the strongest part of the book. I must admit i laughed when that new country imposed Islamic rules on men. It was so comedc, i could not take it seriously at first, bt they built a good case for it as the journalist traveled to the mountain. Overall i liked the book. It was my very firs feministic novel i have read. I might read some others some time.

I liked the way the book was written and how the characters were developed. It was eerie and disturbing in the right ways. I simply don't like the plot? Like subjectively I thought it was quite boring with those irrelevant time jumps (like when something interesting was told and we got a tike jump of something very irrelevant) Maybe I'm to stupid to understand it and that's why it's boring to me but I needed 3 months to read this just because I wanted to put it down all the time

The voice was completely wrong. It's supposedly written by a person in their early teens, with little to no formal education, who uses words like "calor" and "lithic".

Take Your copy, one of bestselling book. First Love: Kindle Edition by Ivan Sergeyevich Turgenev (Author) Vladimir Petrovich Voldemar, a 16-year-old, is staying in the country with his family and meets Zinaida Alexandrovna Zasyekina, a beautiful 21-year-old woman, staying with her mother, Princess Zasyekina, in a wing of the manor. This family, as with many of the Russian minor nobility with royal ties of that time, were only afforded a degree of respectability because of their titles; the Zasyekins, in the case of this story, are a very poor family. The young Vladimir falls irretrievably in love with Zinaida, who has a set of several other (socially more eligible) suitors whom he joins in their difficult and often fruitless search for the young lady's favour. Some fantastic goals. I really debated (and still am thinking) about participating in Romanceopoly this year. It is a fun challenge, I just have so many other things to read lol Like you I would love to get to a point where I am reading my ARCs a month early, but for now will be content with the month they are released. I am also limiting myself to the amount I request, as that can get out of hand very quickly! 'I'm not one of those people who reads 20 to 30 books a month.' I feel personally called out on this 😉 I'm joking of course. I am lucky that I can sneak it some reading at work so that does help a lot.
