I'm late to the party again but happy belated birthday, Emma, hope you're doing well and just enjoy your everyday life (newly 30-year old here and still trying to figure out life!). And what a beautiful gift idea. I'd love to see a vlog with your reflections in 5 years when you have reviewed your journal

Curious how you built up to a half marathon distance? I ran a 15K race and omg I died lol. I can do about 5 miles without issue then it gets a lot harder. How long did it take you to work up to it? And congrats! 😊❤
@EmmaLouiseVlogsАй бұрын
Thank you!! I actually started with the app couch to 5k, with no prior running experience. I built up to a 10k distance over a few months and then up to half marathon distance over another few months by gradually running more frequently, building in weight training, and most importantly dropping my pace significantly, and a lot of mentally preparing myself with repeat affirmations like "I am a runner", "I can do this", "You will be running an extra 2k today and you can do this!!"😅😅

Well done on the running. I’ve also been running for several years, though not up to half marathon distance, 5-10 miles is about right for me I think. I have found it really helpful though in clearing the mind, particularly when addressing problems or considering life decisions etc. Hope you find the same. The new shoes look impressive, will be interested to hear what you think of them.

I love running for clearing my mind (or thinking things through)! Definitely the best way to get the endorphins flowing and to get a bit of an instant mood booster🥳

I definitely felt the chilled easygoing vibes of your Sunday! And the heat in London just hits differently. I don't know how but it does! I'm in West Yorkshire, I've lived in Northampton, and London heat is just different!

London heat is so different! I grew up with Northern summers and they're not the same compared with the humidity of London😂😂

19:37 You name it🎉 It's so important not to stress about our accomplishments and put too much pressure on ourselfs, esp. in comparison to others e.g. I always feel inferiour when girl friends (my age) tell me that the're in a stage in their life where they are at peace with so many things, not worrying about what other people think of them etc. But then I remind myself that every indivdual evolves in their own time. 🌈☀️

So great to hear from you, we have missed you! Your life update sounds lovely, sounds like you are killing it at work and on your free time! 🔥 I just finished my Master's degree, so post-uni/work life waiting for me! Any tips you have regarding that? Thanks 💛

Aww thank you!🥺 HUGE congratulations, so exciting!! Best of luck for post-uni life and job hunting. Just throw yourself into everything you have the energy for but also remember to prioritise self-care and gentleness with yourself. Oh and remember to celebrate your successes along the way- we often forget to do that as humans and focus too much on the 'what next?', rather than living for the moment nad giving ourselves a pat on the back when we deserve it🌞🌞

Nice to hear from you, you have been missed. Glad you seem happy with what life is showing you. Hope you find a work vacancy that suits you before too long, you might find that that is one of your ‘25 years old life progressions’, hope so. Look forward to future vlogs as and when.

Aren't you bothered that where you were walking was near the Keats House, or that Keats met Coleridge close to where you were having your day out? An encounter that led to "Ode to a Nightingale" being written only a few days later.
@alistairheys9383 ай бұрын
Coleridge: "A loose, not well-dressed youth, met Mr Green and me in Mansfield Lane. Green knew him and spoke. It was Keats. He was introduced to me, and stayed a minute or so. After he had gone a little, he came back and said, 'Let me carry away the memory, Coleridge, of having pressed your hand.' There is death laid in his hand, said I to Green when he was gone." Keats: "... I met Mr Green, in conversation with Coleridge. I joined them, after enquiring by a look whether it would be agreeable. I walked with him at his alderman-after-dinner pace for near two miles, I suppose. In those two miles he broached a thousand things; let me see if I can give you a list. Nightingales, poetry - on poetical sensation - metaphysics - different genera and species of dreams - nightmare - a dream accompanied by a sense of touch - single and double touch - a dream related - first and second consciousness - the difference explained between will and volition - the second consciousness - monsters - the kraken - mermaids - Southey believes in them - Southey's belief too much diluted - a ghost story - Good morning - I heard his voice as he came towards me - I heard it as he moved away - I heard it all the interval. He was civil enough to ask me to call on him at Highgate goodnight! It looks so much like rain I shall not go to town to day, but put it off till tomorrow..."

isn't it strange that the Japanese version of physical endurance is very spiritual, but our Greek concept is secular and agonistic in the sense of marathons being an Olympic sport?

Squiggly career means uncertainty and Coleridge says imagination is precisely uncertain, the mind wavering between two objects. When it fixes on one, then it becomes understanding. Someone oscillating between tech and Eng Lit does call the imagination into play. Did you ever watch The Ascent of Man series written and presented by Brunowski, a scientist who wrote a monograph about Blake. He presents the idea that scientific leaps forward are underpinned by imaginative thought. So, in this sense your originary degree is not that different from tech entrepreneurs inventing new devices. By which I mean the writers worth studying are those that make it new and have something original to say.
