I'd say, in order to get ship attitude displyaed in synthetic vision, you need an attitude source (aka AHRS). And here your choices may be limited to some Garmin products (notably to Garmin ADSB-In receivers that also have an AHRS). It is not the ADBS-In data that creates the attitude view, nor would all ADSB-In receivers necessarily come with an AHRS. Having said this, the larger aero 760 seem to have an in-built AHRT that provides attitude information.

Xplane 12 lighting isn't a contrast issue, it's an "exposure" issue. Our eyes can adjust, the sim can't. Regardless, getting a Thumbs Up for running the voiceover through a plugin, for that GA intercom effect

Thank you for the info. Well, I certainly hope the laminar research folks get that fixed. I simply cannot fly it, which is very disappointing. Regarding the microphone, I’m actually using the Transcom intercom box from my real airplane along with an aviation headset.

Thanks for the outstanding demonstration. By chance did you have MSFS 2020 zoomed out a bit more than X-plane? Also, does MSFS require considerably more processing power than X-Plane, and have you noticed differences in the flight models? Many years ago I built a projector based sim in my hanger that used real aircraft and helicopter hardware and, and found that after MSFS 2002, and with MSFS 2004 and MSFS X, the flight models, became less realistic, especially with rotorcraft dynamics, and overall more like a video game that seemed to be carried over into 2020. I recall users complained about the 2002 version being too hard to fly and Microsoft saying they modified the model with 2004. With the help of a friend who was a rotocraft instructor I got pretty proficient flying helicopters in MSFS 2002 and was able to hover and fly an actual Enstrom F28F and R22Beta pretty well with about 40mis of transition time in the actual helicopters with no actual rotrorcraft time. As MSFS 2004 on were much less realistic as far a helicopter dynamics I doubt I could have done the same using the later versions. Having an realistic cyclic and collective and pedal controls and three projectors helped to detect the the subtle pitch and control input effects required to control a helicopter, something that computer joysticks and monitors don't really provide, and likely why the more realistic MSFS 2002 model was impossible for most to fly on a desktop computer.

"does MSFS require considerably more processing power than X-Plane" I fly both XP12 and 2020. I have a strong system, i7-13700K, RTX4080 16GB, 32GB DDR4 4800. When I fly XP12 my cooling fans are indeed buzzing. When I fly 2020 the cooling fans are going crazy. They are almost to the point of my computer hovering around the room like a drone.

Yeah. I used XP exclusively for instrument proficiency training in conjunction with PilotEdge. My first take on MSFS 2020 was that it seemed a little bit “gamey” and oriented toward the Xbox community. Hi, probably prematurely, abandoned it in favor of X plane. Recently, however, I have reengaged flight simulator, 2020 and focused on becoming proficient with all the nuances associated with it. I have been using it for Instrument flight training with pilot edge and it to be a very capable instrument training platform. I must admit that the graphics aspect is very attractive to me. I am astonished at the incredible quality of the Real world graphics in MSFS 2020. For now, I am sticking with it and I hope that with the release of MSFS 2024, there are improvements with respect to the program ability of systems within the aircraft. Also, it would be nice to see improvements in the weather programability..

You’re right. Part of it was my unfamiliarity with Microsoft flight simulator. After having used it now for many hours, I understand that the lens distortion can be resolved with a setting. I do plan on doing another comparison video with a more fair approach. Clearly, flight simulator is far superior with respect to Graphics outside the airplane. I have become quite fond of it and have been flying exclusively flight simulator lately. There are some Systems related issues with respect to Aircraft that I wish they would improve upon. Nonetheless, I have become quite fond of flight simulator.

Hello there's a bias, because those from X-plane we don't see the plane, so it means you have the view inside the plane without the plane no great angle lens. And for MSFS2020 we see the plane so distortions are due to the lens. You can do a zoom to reduce the great angle effect. But the most important regarding physics model.

Definitely everything outside the airplane is more realistic in MSFS. However, when it comes to the airplane, its flight characteristics, systems, programmability, clarity of instruments, capability of fully interactive 2D pop-out panels, replay capabilities, X-Plane wins on all fronts. I absolutely love the MSFS visuals and really hope with 2024 they improve their airplanes. I think their biggest limitation is they are beholden to the XBox gaming platform and this takes away a tremendous amount of flexibility.

@@sogpilot3137 You need to get the A2A Comanche. That is the only GA that flies realistically in MSFS. The X-PLANE 12 default aircraft aren't great either especially the default 172 in both sims. I have about 70+hrs in real c-172 a few in a real archer TX and a 1960s Cherokee. A2A needs to bring their 172 to MSFS. You probably being a real pilot would know flying is about feel too. No sim can replicate that.

Great job but a simulator ain't about the way it looks please dear friends! Even full D level professional simulators aren't good looking or eye candy. How about the feel when flying? The physics, the inertia, ground physics etc? Fhe flightsim community now don't even talk about these anymore, everything is about fun, casual, stunning views! I remember the old days of flight simulation when it was all about physics, flight model, system depth etc!

Then you should fly VFR blindfolded and just make sure your seat goes up and down and spins around. In real life below 15,000 feet gets people killed if they are disorientated with no visibility in foul weather. Not sure if a blind person can even get a flying license on the same note.

Hello. Sorry, but I wasn’t making that comparison in this video. The reason is, because I had to fly Microsoft flight simulator from an external view to produce the video. I believe this is one of the weaknesses in MSFS. The ability to run a replay after a flight from external view, instead of having to fly it, live from external view.

Hi...on my monitor, the image never get stretched out or distorted on FS2020! it must be a configuration issue somewhere! Im an atp rated pilot and like to either anticipate or simulate past real flights and sometimes,in some areas, its even confusing vesus real flights! FS2020 has an incomplete WX engine (no Cirrus,no TCU´s) but the haze and fog are nice! I would never buy XP12,way too weird! And believe me,some flights on Longitude or TBM are very, very amazing and also serves as an excellent IFR trainning tool dor its precision and representations! thank you...and crossing my fingers to see a much improved WX engine on FS2024,hopefuly

I think I know why the images are becoming distorted during flight. I am using a wide screen curved monitor, and apparently Microsoft flight simulator causes the view to become distorted as it moves across the curved screen. This affect was not present using XPLANE 11 and 12.
