Nice cover, were you getting water in the tank? I’ve been having an issue with getting water, same tank outdoors as well
@coldcomfortnorth66634 ай бұрын
Yes, the rainwater comes directly off the roof onto the tank, and snow and ice in the winter sits on top. Ratchet straps would probably work better than those side legs, I may switch it out. Getting the arches used larger pieces of PT so it's pretty heavy.

Hi I have this trimmer and need to grease the head, does it matter what grease I use? Or is the typical grease-gun-grease fine?
@coldcomfortnorth66635 ай бұрын
I"m not an expert but I would just make sure the grease is good for higher speed/heat applications. Think bearings vs joints. I bought a small (8oz) tube of Red Armor from Amazon; it's a little pricier but since this is all I use it for it is lasting a long time.
@pfaenderbender5 ай бұрын
Ok I think I found it. Red armour grease 8oz. It says replaces echo white grease, this is the correct one, or the one you use?
@coldcomfortnorth66635 ай бұрын
@@pfaenderbender Yes, the Red Armor is the one I use.

It is so infuriating that ryobi and other brands too leave out maintenance info like this. As long as it lasts past the warranty it’s good enough for them, then you have to pay for overpriced parts. Same thing with the gas. I found out the hard way that the gas version of this trimmer (S430) needs premium gas, because it just says to use reg gas and reg gas gums up the carb so it can’t run on this unit.

I replaced those plugs with grease fittings on all of my Ryobi 40 volt attachments. Now I have to see if I can grease the bearings in the motor as it is getting noisier.

Have you tried using the brush on your gravel driveway to remove snow?
@coldcomfortnorth666310 ай бұрын
I have not; it's such a big driveway I don't think it would be worth the effort. I do have one of the Ryobi power broom with the flaps that I've used on the walkway with mixed results.
@Pro1er10 ай бұрын
@@coldcomfortnorth6663Thanks. I have a 40V Expand-It snow shovel and was considering getting the broom/brush because I have a part of my driveway that is gravel but I don't want to spend the money if it doesn't work well...or at all because I have no other use for it.
@coldcomfortnorth666310 ай бұрын
@@Pro1er I"m sure it would remove the snow, but probably more gravel too than you'd like. And flinging the stones possible at something which could be damaged. Even my regular snow blower can pick up some gravel with heavier snow and fling it too close to the house.
@Pro1er10 ай бұрын
@@coldcomfortnorth6663Thanks for the reply. I've been considering a DIY brush for the past few decade now but have never gotten around to it. Now that Ryobi (and others) have a brush attachment I had thought about trying it.. I'm not too worried about the stones flying because there would be nothing in their path to damage, besides, they would probably be frozen to the ground for the most part. It's superposed to be near 60 degrees today so all of the snow will be gone by the end of the day. I guess I'll have to put off thinking about it until next Winter.
