I had these notes on my phone from some months ago so figured I'd share with anyone using the follower glitch. The reason I use the glitch over any mods is the AI being able to act slightly more independently. If anyone has any thoughts or has experienced different outcomes feel free to let me know ________________________________________________ Things that completely reset the glitch: Sleeping. Dying. Loading any saves. Leaving companion range/exceeding visible distance on the mini map. Riding on any trains. Initiating any main story cutscenes. Playing poker. __________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________ Things that don't reset the glitch: Walking into the primary camp. Tearing down secondary camps. Initiating some side quest cutscenes. Playing dominos. Strangers on the sides of the roads such as people needing medicine, rides to different locations and other non-cutscene related ambiant open world missions. Finding collectibles and points of interest. Ordering at bars. Shopping at stores Shaving/haircuts. ________________________________________________ ________________________________________________ Companion abilities and limitations, notes and other oddities: Companions will walk around like lunatics open carrying aiming guns at other NPCs until you force their AI to change. You can do this by initiating combat with any human enemy in-game, the NPCs will begin looting bodies post-combat, changing their AI. I believe this is because after building the camp and tearing it down, the NPC still believes that rather than in the custom player made camp, they are instead in the primary Red Dead 2 camp and that the law is coming. After looting the body, the NPC begins to act almost semi-automously, when you follow them around they will walk independent of the player and sandbox (until you move a certain distance away from that companion) Companion horses have unlimited lives and can die unlimited times. If a follower doesn't spawn with a horse, travel a bit and it will spawn. Companions will sometimes get stuck on their horses and not want to come down, to deal with this you have to set their horse on fire, this will then reset them to strange independent AI that is still a companion but idles as though it was one of the local civilians. For example, after I got John off of his horse he walked over to an alley, sat down and smoked a cigarette completely unscripted. After this he didn't move until I forced him to enter combat, we shot up Van Horn and then his AI (John) went inside the saloon and started whittling next to a table. He stayed in there, until a fight happened outside between two entirely different NPCs where one shot the other, John was smoking a cigarette watching. After the shootout between those NPCs he stood there not doing anything until I forced his AI into the water, then it swam back to shore where it reverted to following me once more. Under the right conditions, it is possible to change companion AI behavior upon entering and exiting a boat. For example, even though John stopped following me directly, his companion dot was still appearing on my map, so I entered and exited the boat and just like that he began to follow me again. After I got Karen as a companion she hopped on my backup horse instead of spawning in her own. My backup horse then transitioned on the in-game map from a white symbol, to a red symbol. After in an experiment I had jumped on the back of her horse, the AI began making 180 degree turns but did not dismount. A bit later when Karen wouldn't dismount my backup horse, in order to avoid having to burn/kill the horse I instead whistled which seemed to confuse the AI on the horse through reprioritization somehow. If a companion decides to use your backup horse and the symbol turns red, using the whistle button will cause the players backup horse to force off that companion. The companion will then leave the players command but the grey dot that represents them will still appear on the map until you leave that specific companion behind. When I was at a specific point in game Dutch and Molly weren't at camp, and the only mission at camp was a Micah mission - I got Micah as a companion and suddenly both Dutch and Molly were in camp. If the specific follower that you want isn't at the primary camp or is out in the in-game world waiting for the player to start up the next mission, they won't be eligible for the glitch. Doing the glitch wrong can result in being teleported to mountains in the far North of the game world. To get rid of a specific companion, steal their horse and ride off with the rest of the gang, if there's one you want to keep specifically make sure that they're closest to you during this process. If a companion won't leave their horse, use a boat to ditch them. Sitting down or pouring coffee inside the camp can cause some followers to revert to original AI. Not guaranteed but worth watching. Boats with extra seating (more than a canoe) may leave the NPC inside and unable to move. Forcing a companion to swim for an extended amount of time results in them swimming back to shore, they then grab the camp guard only guns (inaccessible to player) that say they're only usable by perimeter guards and then the NPCs start patrolling. The companion dot is still present though, so far I'm unaware of how to revert the companion AI to following you after doing this. Leaving ally range on the mini map causes them to leave. Companions will linger behind the player to the point that they need to be consistently watched to ensure they move forward. For example, me and John were moving at a speed that nearly resulted in us losing Javier because the AI needed to be watched by the human player. He refused to move forward unless I turned around and look at him, then he actually came. Companions idle both on their own and can be forced to idle by having Arthur stand still or seated. Companion idles are limited to standing guard, smoking cigarettes pipes and cigars, drinking from flasks, sitting in some chairs and at some campfires. After we took a rival gang camp I even saw Lenny laying down at the fire looking up at the stars. Flashing companion dots indicate movement or other NPC actions that indicate the companion AI is "thinking". Losing your wanted level with more than 4 followers is almost impossible, companions are too good/invincible. If you want to specifically get rid of a companions hat, I've done it by having them get in intense combat preferably with a rival gang and letting them shoot it off of that companion (they're invincible) Companions will change their clothes depending upon time of day. ________________________________________________

I have a save that I never went to new austin with John and in this scene he said that already have been in Tumbleweed, also in the first time I went to Pearson store he recognized John like it wasn’t the first time he was there. This glitch ever happened to anyone ?
