Thx. Yeah in the US, especially AZ it's so much easier to collect knives and pretty much get any knife u want vs. in Germany. Germany has much worse restrictions on knives than California. In Germany only slip-joints and/or any other opening mechanism that requires 2 hands, is allowed. And blade length is also limited to if I remember correctly, 3".

@BDevi0us correct. And if you're member in the Olight FB group you'll see some folks already showing pics of their lights chipping. Which to me is fine. I bought it as an EDC, and I expect chipping during daily use at work.

@dEEPcITY71 I was thinking about getting the Marauder Mini actually. As a light to carry in my truck. And the Arkfeld Ultra as daily EDC pocket carry, since its the perfect profile to carry, besides my knife, Leatherman, pen and pew pew.

Yeah, tbh I'm really disappointed with the Kobalt case. The tools themselves aren't bad at all. But having this issue with the extreme tension holding the tools in, is really annoying. I wanted a set that is just as complete as the Kobalt set is, because it has small sockets that I use pretty often. Metric and SAE. Ant their skinny ratchet is also pretty good. But the case almost makes this a deal breaker for me. I looked at the HF Icon set, but it is missing the sockets for me. I don't like to have to carry an extra case just for that. However, I just stumbled across some HF news, and it looks like at some point early 2025 HF is releasing an upgraded Icon set with a slightly larger case, that also includes 1/4" sockets. I'm really looking forward to getting my hands on one of those at release. I might take this Kobalt set back to Lowes and see if there is anything else comparable in the meantime.

@@Knifes-and-Gear-Insights The problem with the tools being too tight in the case may have a fix: WD40 or light machine oil. The sockets can probably be removed with the ratchet if the ratchet can be made to come out a little easier. Kobalt's problem that probably can't easily be fixed is that the driver doesn't have a magnet in it to hold the bits. As far as Lowe's goes, there should be a Craftsman version available. I was looking for it when I found the Kobalt. It just wasn't available at my local Lowe's store. The appeal of the Icon bit set is that it is easy to carry in a pocket. The sets that have sockets in them are too big for that. When Icon releases their socket version, it may be too bulky to pocket carry as well.

@@mmaimmortals yes it will be somewhat the same size as the latest Craftsman V Series case. It's still more compact than most in that area.

I used a razor knife and small file to trim the locking tabs slightly until they had just enough tension to hold the tools in place. A bunch of the ratchets have a bad selector lever. Mine works fine in the forward direction but when you switch to reverse the lever will jump to the center location where it is locked and doesn't ratchet in either direction. I suspect there may be a burr on the main gear or the lever gear. There are other reviews noting the problem and some possible fixes like loading it up with grease on the inside.
