You’ll be safe and looked after, you’ve got this! The most important thing is to educate yourself about all of your options (pain relief, boundaries, music etc) so that you feel in control. I think a lot of people have bad experiences when they think it’ll be to plan and then they feel out of control when it doesn’t, so try to have a positive mindset about all of the things that could end up happening and don’t be afraid to get the epidural IF you want it and struggle with the pain. It can be intense but know there is always something to help! It is a marathon so prep with snacks and a plan A, B, and C. It’ll be over before you know it and it’s an amazingly beautiful, intense experience. You’ll do so well and you’ll be safe and you’ll get your beautiful baby by the end. Let me know how you get on ❤️

I started teaching in the early 1970s and the story then was similar. I was put in a room with 36 students and literally no equipment except desks and empty cupboards. Only bloody minded perseverence and not knowing where else to go, I gradually learned that it wasnt my fault that it was so difficu.t. After 45 years involved with education I can honestly say its a fools game. Read deschooling society by Illich nd a mathematicians lament by Lockhart . In the 70s and 80s there was a lot of effort in trying to make sense of the job by teacherz, the the national curricu.um came in and gradually we became the deliverers of govt policy. At the time eminent educators warned against allowing politicians control over education.

I taught mostly physics with most HS science subjects ( except biology) for 32 years and recently retired. I agree with many of the problems other teachers have talked about. But I was in the USMC before I went to college and started teaching. I had plenty of things in the corps that were stressful. Like many posting here , I had some trying days teaching . But you keep your head , stay the course and complete your.mission to the best of your ability. That's exactly what I did with few complaints for over 30 years.

Hi. Thank you for making this video, this topic is really hard to find any information about. But pls I have a question. Can you tell me how the ministry of education takes teachers for schools in Scotland? Do they use special universities and courses or do they just employ people who have taken the teaching course from other universities?

Girlie, it sounds like you had an unnecessary induction and delivered with medical staff that seemed bothered you dared to even show up. And that's not even mentioning the gas lighting when you said you felt the need to push. Congrats on your beautiful baby though <3
@JoannaStewart
@JoannaStewart 26 күн бұрын
100%, I agree. I definitely could’ve delivered earlier if I was listened to, and I didn’t push for it out of fear of giving birth right then so I just held back as much as possible. I’m just glad it was a positive experience and I knew the process for what to expect. Hypnobirthing definitely made me think of it positively which helps. It was deffo an unnecessary induction though which is sad

actually I’m trying to pgce in Social Science. For January 2025 intake I secured place at university of Essex ( MA Politics ) ,but after research I came to know job after MA or Funded PhD after MA is very difficult. So I thought of taking safe route and got to know about PGCE QRT . I heard that employment rate after that is more than 60% even in SOCIAL SCIENCE. So I thought of getting into PhD by my own fund earned through this route

I'd like to know 3 things that are beneficial for mum as well! :) Just found your channel yesterday, thanks for a nice video, I'm currently breastfeeding my 1 year old and no plans to stop! I found out recently that there's also no risk for the pregnancy if one got pregnant while breastfeeding, which I always had heard (although could be harder to GET pregnant). There is so much false information out there! Did you know this information? :)
@JoannaStewart

So glad to hear you found this helpful! Love that you’re breastfeeding your 1 year old and not stopping yet, enjoy every moment 🥰 Yes! I have heard that supply can be a bit all over the place in the first few months with the rising hormones / lead to increased sensitivity which can be uncomfortable but it gets better and perfectly doable. Just gotta fuel yourself! I’d definitely like to keep breastfeeding my wee one while pregnant if I got pregnant anytime soon, the idea of sharing milk seems to sweet 🥹 But you’re right there is so much misinformation out there and a lot of stigma. Thanks for sharing that fact! Just hope to share some pro breastfeeding and positive parenting content! 🫶 more BF benefits coming soon 😊

I always use bio too, could never get a decent clean with non bio, even with adding vanish or washing on 60. We've used cloth nappies for over 12 years and havent had anything fall apart before its time. Ironically when we were using non bio for a while we saw lots of wear on our night nappies, im guessing now looking back we had ammonia buildup and was eating away at the fabrics.

Glad it worked out. But it’s a concerning that they gave you deadlines; like 4 centimeters in 4 hours. It doesn’t have to be that fast. Pushing only fur an hour? Also not realistic. Saying it’s because baby not tolerating labor? Well they are pushing the limit by giving pitocin. Makes artificially strong contractions. So, the induction causes the problems and then they threaten c-section. It’s crazy. You’re lucky it worked out. The suction method has very real risks too, even worse than forceps ( if dr is skilled with forceps ). Again, glad you and baby got through it well. I just wish doctors would not interfere unless truly necessary.
@JoannaStewart
@JoannaStewart 4 ай бұрын
I don’t think there was much logic behind it, it definitely seemed like a ‘we have x many other women to deliver so let’s time block each delivery’. Which tbh the whole induction felt like that as there wasn’t much justification for giving me an induction in the first place. I got a sense of being understaffed and wanting to manage each labour by scheduling inductions etc but maybe I’m cynical. I researched a lot so I felt informed thankfully, and as a result I’m at peace with it all. But these situations can be unnecessary and traumatic for a lot of women, those experiences seem to be common in every mat ward right now. BUT I will say that yes baby and I are great, thanks. And the actual many thin experience of dilapan was much better than I anticipated compared to other methods so I wouldn’t want to scare anyone. Just research everything and try and be confident and in control

Don't blame you for quitting. I work in IT, and my girlfriend is a teacher. There is technical solutions to ease the workload but from what I can see they will NEVER implement them. And even if they did they would then add more responsibilities to the job and you end right back up at square one. Teaching seems to have descended into a horrible overwork culture. And if you want to see how bad it can get, just take a look at a South Korean Hogwan. It needs fresh thinking and a total update in terms of resources for teachers such as AI, reporting tools, timesaving solutions such as generating lessons which can then be changed or tweaked at will, data analysis so that you can then see what each child is having trouble with and you know what to focus on with lessons, a system that will automatically tell you when there is enough availability for meetings, a scanner that will read an entire classroom of test papers and then use AI to mark them more accurately than a human. But there is no will for this change, and I can't understand why.

The pecking order of the school system is government, higher ups in school, parents, teachers and last of all the kids. It's more important to pretend to the parents the kids are being educated than actually educate them, it's more important to achieve government targets than educate the kids, it's more important to raise the teacher's pay than educate the kids. I worked in the UK system, both full time and supply teaching and like a huge number of teachers, I sent my kids to a collective homeschool while working in a school. Now I work in a foreign school, classes of 10-12 kids, and 200 in the whole school, kindergarten to sixth form. Really laid back, nurturing and family environment, no targets to meet or masses of admin, no tight curriculums, just make sure the kids have fun each lesson is our main raison d'etre. And this isn't an expensive private school either just a local village school. The British school system is an antiquated system based in Victorian ideas. It's little more than a baby sitting service for workers and a way of crushing kids souls and dehumanising them ready for life. The only solution is to abolish the whole system and start again.
@JoannaStewart
@JoannaStewart 4 ай бұрын
I totally agree, it is archaic and isn’t in line with the times and the future economy at all. It just makes a majority of children into workers, it is sad. It is great to hear of an alternative though, I hadn’t known home schooling to be a big thing amongst teachers but I will look into that. Which country are you working in? It sounds fantastic! 😊
