Hello Kay how long did it took you took pass the theory?
@kaytrueАй бұрын
Hi it’s different for everybody it depends on how much you revise a little bit like the car theory test, but for the HGV there’s more to it just keep revising and book when you think you’re ready🙂

Looking around locally I'll get anywhere from 30 to 34k per year, class 2, compared to barely making above minimum wage destroying my body and health welding. Seems like a no brainer tbh.
@Turki-Alalshikh.Ай бұрын
30k a year in 2024 for 12+ hour shifts sitting ruining your health driving a lorry😂 that money would be good 25 years ago. ... stay in school kids if you're reading this or you'll end up a hgv driver.

You should do it just make sure there’s jobs around your area 🙂 even if you just get the license it’s a good qualification to have

I have had my licence since 2017. I upgraded February last year. Fortunately, no one took me all that asking for experience, which is I didn't have any experience yet. So 1 year I've been looking for job class one

You should try support work, if your client has challenging behaviour and doesn't want to do anything you can sit in the office all day looking at your phone whilst getting paid!

That’s not good someone would go 3 months without work.,gets busy then drops away.Most jobs ask for you to have 2 years experience it’s been that way for years.Better on the buses it’s constant work

Hey man, im on a government hgv bootcamp for my class 2 licence. I'm a little concerned about finding work after I get it. If you can understand my concern being a new pass im worried that employers won't touch me with a 10 foot Internet pole. Is it fairly easy to land a job straight away? P.s should I upgrade to the big boy licence (artic) or is a class 2 good enough? I originally tried to gain the licence with warbutons. They were going to pay for the whole thing as long as I worked there for 3 years. It didn't work out (I think the guy who took me for my driving assessment just didn't like me much) they were going to pay me 700 a week when I gained the licence.
@Glenn77193 ай бұрын
I went through the bootcamp, straight from car to class one. Id say i was one of the lucky ones, as the first job i applied for, the one i was eyeing up the most, i got an assessment with and offered the job there and then. A month in and loving it, easy trunking work, depot to depots, swapping trailers, having them unloaded etc. Taking home just shy of £600 a week. Yes it could be better, but id do it for less as i am getting that much needed experience. Been told a raise after 6 months, or i could start looking elsewhere, as you've probably gathered, a lot of companies want at least 6 months.
