do you get much drift on resawing? and, is the rip fence pretty accurate?
@WoodWorkTherapy14 күн бұрын
I usually don’t experience significant drift with my setup, and I try to be fair in assessing the potential causes. I typically pre-cut the wood on the saw to establish a clean rip line before resawing. Here’s why I do this: 1. **Material Density**: I often work with very dense woods (like walnut, hickory, and sapele). Pre-cutting reduces resaw time and results in a cleaner overall cut. 2. **Blade Size**: My bandsaw uses a smaller blade than professional-grade saws, which can be 4-5 times the cost. This requires a different approach to ensure accuracy. 3. **Blade Type**: I prefer to use high-speed steel (HSS) resaw blades rather than carbide ones, so pre-cutting helps to improve cut quality and blade life. I also spend considerable time aligning the saw-setting the correct baring distance, adjusting blade tension, and fine-tuning everything to minimize drift. The setup process is crucial; even the best bandsaws can have some drift, especially with smaller blades, which are more prone to it. Proper alignment and control of feed speed are key-let the blade do the work! As for the fence, I don’t often use one while resawing since I prefer to adjust manually for any drift. When I do use it, it’s generally adequate, although a taller fence would occasionally be useful for certain resawing tasks. Otherwise, I’m satisfied with it. And that’s my engineering analysis on bandsaw drift with the Wen 39962!

This seems like an advertisement for the Base camp mask. Base camp looked far more annoying to put on with all those straps and it even took you considerably longer but you said it's somehow easier?
@WoodWorkTherapyАй бұрын
Yes, it was easier in my opinion. How you ask? When you put it over your ears, it holds it in place while you get the perfect strap fit. For some people (such as myself) easier is not nessisarily faster. It does take longer to put on. You are correct. However, it is easer to get in a proper position to get a good tight fit. It's a trade off. The RZ on the other hand you can get on faster per say, however the fit is not always correct, so additional adjustments may need to be made causing it to actually take more time undoing and redoing the strap over an over to get a proper fit. You always have one side trying to fall off, and cranking your neck while your trying to get the proper fit. I have neck issues and I do not find that part of RZ comfortable, or easy by any means. So may sound like an add, until you look at the reasons why I said that. More so a well thought-out opinion really. I hope that helps.
@DigitalEternalАй бұрын
@@WoodWorkTherapy I'd have to try them side by side because the RZ seems much easier. You put it on your face and velcro the back, no straps to mess around with. I have masks and respirators with lots of straps and I don't wear them because putting them on is a pain, takes too long and they just aren't comfortable. Plus then the straps are always catching your safety glasses or hearing protection, makes you not want to use any of it. Ultimately the best piece of safety gear is the one you're actually going to wear and just being able to quickly throw the RZ mask on without messing with straps is a big plus for me.
@WoodWorkTherapyАй бұрын
@@DigitalEternal I can feel thta. I wear mine with ISO tunes 2.0 amzn.to/47POdf2 and regular old Harbor Freght safty glasses, and it sits well. I also have some safety glasses I use when spraying that have extra pading and allof them work just fine. I still occasionally use the RZ, it's just not my go to per say. But that is my preference, and works best for my needs. You needs may be different. Remember that honest reviews will have a mix of opinions and facts. Paid reviews are just facts/propiganda being spouted. I just got hit up for a paid review the other day, and declined that offer, because I feel the viewership deserves facts over propaganda that some corporate body tells me to say. I just got delivery of the same VEVOR table saw blade sharpener. A few problems with it. The motor housing covering the end motor had a lots of dents, less than adequate packaging to handle a 60lb tool and probably some rough handling during shipping. Motor was not damaged. The large cupped washer that secures the blade was not as deep as the center bushing is tall. The blade bushing adapters are 1/8" taller than the cupped washer, leaving a large gap between the blade and the washer. I stuck some small rubber pads to the underside of the washer to make it work. The last problem I noticed right away was the diamond sharpening blade had a lot of runout (wobble) on it. When I measured the runout with a dial indicator the total indicated runout was 0.020 (twenty thousandts)...that's a problem! When you touch the saw blade to the sharpening blade you can easily hear it making uneven contact. When the motor stops and you look at the sharpening blade, you see only about 1/2 of the blade is actually making contact. This could be due to uneven diamond sharpening blade, very slight bend in the motor shaft, or the thick washers that secure the sharpening blade are not very flat. The problems are disappointing but not total show stoppers that would warrant shipping the tool back.
@WoodWorkTherapy2 ай бұрын
You had me at damaged motor housing. I would return that one. Especially since the other issues were prevalent as well. Mine came nice and mint as you would expect. So yeah I would return that in a heartbeat. That would be unacceptable in my book. Sorry to here you had that happen. :(

In the pencil, the red top has a sharpener inside it. The small hand saw I ordered too, and whilst it’s ok, i was disappointed because I was under the impression it was a flush cut saw. But the teeth splay both sides so no, not what I was expecting. I have the temu version of woodpeckers parallel guides and they are great value, well worth the price if you are looking at them at some stage. I also got a version of the kerf gauge which is great, and a dowel maker, again pretty good. Next I have a rather well used and slightly dented Pauolini pocket rule, awesome tool, and am considering to see if temus versions are as good or not.

7:05 is that standard embossing powder? How does it hold up against actual use (or do you epoxy the surface afterwards) Also, do you have a name for that little assortment kit of rubber feet, or remember where you got them?
@WoodWorkTherapy4 ай бұрын
The HotCoat Powder Coat we used was this: amzn.to/4cxPo4t I will tell you this is tricky to get right. I felt the video made this look rather easy. It does take many layers to make this look right, so start thin and work your way to the top, let it cool between layers. You should avoid the issues we had when doing this. LOL I did not wind up using epoxy on this one. However since it is a non-cut surface it may not be a bad idea for filling in small holes that can form during the heating process. On it's own it is very stable and hard. That being said it is powder paint just like the stuff that is on the bottom of your chassie, so it is rather durable. However it does have a gloss, so I would assume it would scratch over time, or at least show scratches. I don't think you would be able to cut through it easily with a knife however. I have NOT tested that theory just to be clear. LOL The feet are from this kit(realy nice kit by the way, just remember to predrill first LOL): amzn.to/3WaZ27t I hope this helps! Advise for press that won’t open
@WoodWorkTherapy4 ай бұрын
The press will not open. I would do 3 things. Unplug it for a minute, and plug it back in see if that helps. Try pushing down on the dial several times(may have gotten something in there like dust as an example), and also try the control button on the press itself at the front(remember the buttons only work if the unit is plugged in and shows signs of power). If none of that works I would contact Vevor technical support. Here is a link: www.vevor.com/pages/contact-us. It locks in place when it closes so they would need to provide a more manual way to get that open. I have not experienced that issue so I can't advise further. However if you do have to contact them, drop us a comment and let us know what you found out.

Anyone know how well these masks work for those of us who with eyeglasses? Also, are you locked-in with their replaceable filters or are there 3rd party filters?
@WoodWorkTherapy4 ай бұрын
I found that it works well with standard and work glasses. Little to no fog. Fit is a little more comfortable than RZ for glasses. However, it will raise your glasses just like any other mask so keep that in mind. As far as filters go, the ones they offer are rather cost effective so I don't think you would need a 3rd party filter replacement. However, it does seem RZ mask filters fit okish in there. I did try that out of curiosity. That may be a good sign if you find generics of those. However, I would not recommend that, as the fit was not the best.

I've been curious about that too! Surprisingly, I've had a really positive experience with the Vevor Table Saw Blade Sharpener. Honestly, zero complaints kind of happy with it. As for the water-based option, I'm not convinced it would make a significant difference. Since the blade only touches the grinder briefly, it's not like it's grinding the carbide extensively. Maybe it would provide a slightly finer result, but I doubt it would truly impact the blade's performance. Anyway, I'm no pro sharpener, just sharing my experience! 😄

How much would you sell these?
@WoodWorkTherapy7 ай бұрын
Considering the expenses involved in materials, labor, and markup, a walnut board typically costs between $60 to $80 USD. However, it's worth noting that most boards are 4/4, so you'll need to rip them down to 1/4 for the sides, and then to 1/8 for the top and bottoms. To streamline the process and potentially reduce labor costs, it might be beneficial to batch produce them. Ripping one board to create multiple pieces is more efficient than doing it individually each time. By adopting this approach, the cost could be lowered to around $40 to $50 due to reduced labor. While I don't personally sell these, I believe this pricing reflects their value as lasting keepsakes that gain character over time. Hopefully, this insight is helpful to you.😀

And if your on the pro side, it will pay for itself very fast! :)

Why don't you put a stop on the teeth so that all the faces are ground the same? Then what is it there for? If you only grind your teeth by hand every time, after a while you will have a different tooth and the work with the disc will be much worse. While the angle of the blade is larger, after several manual grindings, each tooth will be a different height. I have had the same sander for several years.
@WoodWorkTherapy6 ай бұрын
Not fully understand the question you are asking. During the video, we did use the stop so we could only go so far on the grid. I know that it is hard to see in the video due to the angle but you can see the arm of the stop on the opposite side of the grinding wheel from the camera angle. Ultimately you can put the stop at any tooth that will stop the blade in a position that kisses the wheel realistically. 9:21

You don't address the over all quality of the machine. Are all the knobs metal or plastic and is it a solidly built machine. No one cares about allen wrenches or plastic cover over the switches. Also, you are just "flat" sharpening the blade teeth with no mention of angle to the grinding wheel. Poor video.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We acknowledge your points, and upon reflection, we realize that some details, such as the materials used in the machine, might not have been clearly conveyed through visuals alone. We understand that the angles, particularly during the blade grinding process, may have been challenging to perceive due to the slight angle employed. Upon revisiting this video, recorded almost 1.5 years ago, your insights now make perfect sense to us. We appreciate your suggestions and valuable tips. As we plan to revisit and reevaluate this content in the near future, we commit to incorporating your feedback, along with additional insights and lessons we've gained over the past years. Thank you for helping us improve our content.

lifting two wheels is standard for some vehicles, my 2019 bolt EV is one that the manufacturer recommends using the jack point under the front doors to lift both wheels on the side that is to be changed. I use this method because it is recommended by the people that design the car.FYI. also is that a true impact socket that I see on your gun, and if you have locking lug nuts on your nice shiny wheels never use your impact gun to remove these type of nuts. always use a power handle to remove the locks and to install them a torque wrench for the final tightening with a re-torque after about 50 miles with alloy wheels.

Great advice! I appreciate the insights, especially regarding the EV 2-wheel aspect. As for the Vevor car jack socket, it does seem quite durable based on my experience. The chrome finish does raise questions about it being a true impact socket, given the more common black metal ones. However, considering it's designed for loosening bolts and the 80-110 pounds exerted, it should be safe for standard sockets in non-regular use. That being said, I share your hesitation about using these sockets for a full auto repair job. While they might handle it, I'm cautious based on the color alone; most impact sockets I've seen are black metal. Your input is valuable, and it's wise to consider the right tool for the job. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

That's the review I needed! Thank you a lot! 🙏😊 Can I ask you about your opinion...I never touched an airbrush in my life, but now I'm gonna need one 😊I don't know what paints you used in this video. I'm gonna use Vallejo's Model color and Model air for my project. Do you think this kit will handle with Model color? Thank you in advance and best regards! 🤝

It will probaly do better than what we used. In our case we used watered down chalk paints, which do clog the small nozel after a fair amount of use. So in esssence we showed the worst case scenario for use, and it worked like a champ. So a thiner paint like your talking about should have no issues. May just have to make sure you keep the pressure in check. We balanced the pressure durring each color change by using a piece of carboard we had from a box to see the patern and volume, before showing on video. This way you all did not have to watch us do that. Not that it took all that long. That is good advise however any time you are working with a air brush or HVLP gun. I hope this helps out! 😀
Hello, can you put on those large polisher wheels like the ones on a bigger unit has? Thanks

That might be possible if you were to disassemble the housing around the wheels. Never realy looked into that, as it is not a normal use of the mini griders. But without disassembly it would not be able to do that.
