🌴 So here’s the thing it’s not as bad as your saying yea the first thing to check on the motor is try and spin the flywheel on the top of the motor to make sure it’s not locked up or seized , spray some blaster canned penetrating oil on the plugs let ‘em set for a day or so and see if they’ll break loose by a couple new plugs , spray some of the blaster inside the spark plug holes to lube the cylinders , you need to run a compression test on the cylinders they should be around 100 psi for good compression, I don’t know if it’s a pull start or electric start ? You need to get the motor turning over , check oil on the bottom end , and make sure all is hooked up on the top end , squirt gas in the carbs see if it fires up , 🤔 once you get the trailer ready get the boat up on it get to an area to clean out the inside and outside, if the boat is gelcoat it can be sanded and buffed to restore it , the interior will need to be redone at a interior shop , ain’t no need to rush it ! It’s a project boat and it takes time , one by one off the check list 👍🏼 ya got this 😉. You can always resource looking one how to do stuff on you tube 🫲🏼😳🫱🏼
@americanrambler4972Ай бұрын
The trailer is good. Look around. You might find the wheel hubs, wheels and tires lying around somewhere. They were removed to provide head room while it was stored in the garage. That is a simple boat. It’s fiberglass. A good shoveling out and scrubbing will bring it back a lot. Those chain clamp things you threw over the side were the tie downs used to hold and tie the boat transom to the trailer at the back. The rope at the front used on the wench held the front of the boat. The windshield is plexiglass. That one is in great shape! It scratches easy so be careful while cleaning. It’s plastic, not glass. To replace these, you go to special shops which reconstruct them from a flat piece of plexiglass using heat and a mold form. They are not cheap. The engine is an old Johnson/Evinrude or Gale probably between 25 and 40 hp. You can probably still get parts for it. They made a lot of those and there are still quite a number of them around. It’s a smoky somewhat thirsty two stroke.

The spring raccoon traps are actually for locking transom down onto trailer when towing. Don’t forget to unhook when you launch😅

When I turned 16 my dad bought me a 14’ 1962 Crownline. (4 yrs older than me). It looked much like that boat. We took windshield off because it was broken. I think dad paid $500 for boat. Floor replaced, We made a bench seat across the back and where the drivers seat would be. Took out steering wheel. Dad put on a 30 hp Suzuki. I sold the boat, motor and trailer 10 yrs later for $1,500.

Motor will never run again - just found a BIG BIG problem
@danielfitzgerald3417Ай бұрын
i agree with first commentor, The motor is made of aluminum, that stated its probably ok inside, its a old motor but you can find parts. so my advice, simple build a simple outboard motor stand place the motor on it and see if it will turn over, get a loosening spray agent spray the plugs with it, if they are siezed in place. if the motor will not turn over with or with out plugs in use diesel fuel fill the cylinders with diesel fuel let sit for 48 hrs, then see if the pistons will move if not then they are siezed maybe from sitting, you will have to take off the cylinder head cover, next get a rubber mallet and a block of wood and lightly tap each piston see if they move. you may need new coils or points of cleaning up of the old points you will need a carb rebuild kit and a new lower unit impellor check the gearoil in the lower end see if its a milkshake color if so their is water in the gear oil meaning new shaft seals are required. chances are the old motor is fine its not the outside that counts its the inside, you will need new fuel hoses and probably a fuel pump. check out old outboard motor collectors sites they can help you with finding parts. Frankly the new outboards are no near as well built as the one you found with the boat. Best of Luck!

I just walked into my backyard and looked at the motor again... there was a catastrophic failure that I somehow didn't notice the first time I looked at it. This motor without question will never run again :( I will show it in the next video.
