Sorry to hear that! How terrible!! Did you boost a car with it? I never had a chance to do that, only use it as a power bank a few times.
@ChuddleBuggy Жыл бұрын
The GR engine makes that ticking noise from the piston rings. A properly broken in GR engine will have a slight ticking at idle but should quiet down when under load and then come back on when the engine is unloaded,,, meaning not accelerating or declerating. You can test your GR by lightly accelerating and then lifting slightly on the gas without fully releasing it, just so the engine is turning without pulling on the car or being dragged by it. You should notice the ticking getting louder when you lift on the gas and quiet down when you push on it slightly again.

So it means that it's alright if there's a slight ticking noise when idling?
@ChuddleBuggy10 ай бұрын
@@danksauron3172 I think some time in 2018 or thereabouts, the GR engine had a slight internal design change for one reason or another. This is when the ticking phenomenon started. It went away around 2021 (again an estimate, only a Toyota engineer or tech could confirm) when people started complaining about it. It nevertheless did not cause any real concern because the engines didn't burn any oil or any major mechanical issues..just the annoying ticking noise that people started complaining about. Also, this was only noticed in the 1GR. The 2GR was perhaps immune to the problem because of its lower piston speeds at idle.

@@ChuddleBuggy Thanks for the reply, i have 2003 version of this motor and it makes a slight ticking noise when it has warmed up and idles for couple of minutes.

My dad's cousin trained at that base before going overseas to England during WW II. There he was a medic, receiving and caring for the injured. You'd better not touch anything metal as they probably could kill you. Is that Okanagan Lake? I didn't think it froze in the winter. Beautiful shot of the lake and the cows.

That's awesome, starts on the 2nd pull. I notice you don't need to mix the fuel with oil - it does that automatically, does it? You just add oil in that first reserrvoir you showed. What weight oil do you use? 5-20?? If I had a lawn you could come do it anytime - especially if I was paying you by the hour - more like by the seconds, you did it so quickly. LOL
@heavenscape6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for commenting Robert! No oil mix is required for this one. The manual calls for 30 weight oil so I use full synthetic 5W-30 oil, the same oil used for my car. As for fuel, I just use regular gasoline with 87 Octane.
