So it will work without the coin comparator hooked up? I am getting a code 21 and assumed it was because the comparator was broken. Maybe I need to check the optics.

I have an igts+ the coins drop straight thru back into the payout tray. The yellow light is flashing what should I check now. Its not reading a code it says insert coin

@@TURBOLANDRAIDER I tried cleaning the optics and it didn't work. I then replaced the optic board and wiring harness and still get the 21 error. I am wondering if the next step would be to replace the comparator however wish I had a better way to troubleshoot than throwing parts at it. When it first happened I could get it to clear intermittently but think it was more coincidence than anything I was really doing. It worked fine and then within a few days of getting the first 21 error it ended up like it is currently.

In the slot repair world we usually have an identical cabinet next to it, so we can swap parts back and forth. Much easier. Iirc, the comparitor does not communicate with the machine (in an s plus) is just the optics. The comparitor just decides if the inserted coin matches the sample coin. Your optics may be bad, or a bad harness going to them.

you hopefully figured out what was wrong after a year, but if not ~ your are missing the connector cable that goes from the connector (your were holding at the 25 second mark) and the power inlet on the coin comparitor . CC-16-D SMALL COIN COMPARITOR PIGTAIL - hope that helps. saw one on ebay for less than $10.

I am having the exact same problem with that error 21 code. I see in your very last video you were able to fix it. can you tell me what you did? I also pulled both those parts out and cleaned those sensors underneath the first coin box. No luck. Any help will be greatly appreciated!
