the system works as intended. private prisons require a steady influx of inmates to make more money. lobbying ensures that the law prioritizes incarcerations over justice. deprivatize prisons first then change the treatment from punishment to rehabilitation and lastly amend the laws to reduce the incarceration rate.

Kind of like Trump. He had 12 Trump hating jurors and tried in a city ( N.Y.) that hates Trump. White people take plea deals. J6 people took plea deals because they went in front of left wing activist judges. This womantries to make it about race.

It's just one of the many factors that's broken in the U.S. criminal-justice system (& I use the term "justice" very loosely). This includes the penal system. It's an issue I've been passionate a/b for decades. I've certainly become more educated a/b it since my son became incarcerated, which is in a different state from where I reside. While I pose pointed questions to DOC officials in the state where my son's incarcerated, I'm a thorn in the side of the governor, AG, legislators, & DOC officials of the state where I reside as it's so inhumane.

During my son's ARD meeting, i got bored and read ahead of them, and on a page about 3 from where they were, i couldn't help it. I busted out laughing hysterically. .. Well, whats so funny? . Right here. Page 7. It says on his goals ...reduce his rate of expectation. It SAYS that... . .yes, but why do you think that's funny? . He's only going to to do the minimum that you EXPECT him to do. You're supposed to expect MORE out of him so he progresses. . 😶. . Dang, no wonder you have so many problems with him. He's bored out of his mind. . He's not like this at home? . UH......NO. he knows i expect his absolute best, and there's big trouble if he slacks. . Yes, folks. Lewisville Tx high school 1994. I threatened to pull him out and homeschool.. Yikes and it just got worse and worse. You expect nothing, you'll get nothing.

.00016% of preschool students are suspended. That’s a very tolerant system. Those are often students whose parent/guardian refuse to engage with the school. Preschools are a luxury and behaviors are learned and mimicked at that age especially.

Extremely smart mom. I was in a car & others had drugs & we all got arrested but the one who left their drugs in the car got let out with no charges. Me they wanted me to go to do 4months . I refused they then wanted me to go to n/a classes like wha what ?? I refused. They eventually dropped it. But had I accepted I’d have a record. Not me not this lifetime.

States rights are fine, the issue is we need clear and definitive legislation on what states aren’t allowed to control without oversight and education, healthcare, and the justice system are 3 big ones.

There's an old saying that more people should pay attention to: "When you lay with dogs, you're going to get fleas." If you aren't aware of who the dogs are in your circles, then you are putting yourself at risk.

My mom had the philosophy that if no one confessed to whatever the crime was, every one got the punishment -- even when she knew who did it. The only thing that accomplished was to turn her kids against each other. It also made us have a very low opinion of her "justice".

These laws are so awful. It is not really fair for those who don't know what's really going on They know who the criminals are in the cars. They know who really bought those drugs They know who's the person using them. But that's where you have to be careful who your friends are and you may not even know your friend does it do you. It happened to a cousin of mine. My cousin picked up a friend at a house that the kid often to care of especially in the summer while the people were out of town and so he was not surprised that the kid called and said hey pick me up on your way to work and drop me off at my house I don't want to walk it's getting late. Okay no problem. My cousin had nothing to do with the robbery Unfortunately some very expensive valuable coins that this young man knew were in the house and I guess he had decided he was going to leave town unbeknownst to anybody else My cousin didn't even know this kid was going to do that and he had decided he wanted to get out of that hip town and he was going to leave and he was using my cousin for him to make a quicker getaway by He wasn't going to have to walk home My cousin was going to take him across the valley to his house and then my cousin was going to go on to work and then the kid could pack a piss stuff and catch the bus out of town and he figured he'd be halfway across the state before anybody figured out that he had stolen the stuff Unfortunately the neighbor saw him over at that house and unfortunately he saw my cousin pull up to the house kid comes out gets in the car and the guy called the police cuz he didn't get told by the people who live there that the boy would be coming over and checking on the house and it was a newer neighbor and didn't know that this kid went in and out of that house all the time. Problem was my cousin didn't know the kid had done this. He had no idea that this boy had decided after graduating a few weeks before from high school that he was done with this small town and he was leaving. But not my cousin He was engaged to be married He was going to go to the community college and he had a job that he'd had ever since he was 15 years old at a place and he just been promoted he was not leaving town He was building a life. Sadly thanks to that friend and the police officer who showed up right behind him my cousin they said was an accessory and nobody who knew him there's no way he's just not that kind of kid He doesn't even go out even drinking with the kids He's too busy doing other stuff but the court just wanted to make an example got to be careful who you're hanging out with. And it ruined my cousin's life He didn't get to marry his sweetheart He got fired from his job and he spent two years in jail because it was a felony not a misdemeanor who is breaking and entering and it was a dollar amount that was definitely not a misdemeanor. Sad part was he was definitely not the kind of kid who would get himself into trouble. He didn't dare cause any problems because his parents were so super strict and he had a little sister that he didn't want her getting into any trouble or anything like that. There was just no way he would cause any problems for his parents as she was so little and his parents were older. As an oops baby he was concerned his parents may not live long enough to raise her and he wanted to make sure that he had a stable life so that just in case he would be there for her and now he was facing jail time.
