Exactlty, islam don't recommend to go on date. Instead ask for her guardian and talk to her in her home in the presence of her parents. Don't go out for date its still a date.

Think about the questions that you can at least use to filter things, things that people wouldn’t really lie about, things that dictate people’s preferences. Engage in sincere istikhara. Involve family members of the opposite gender. ESPECIALLY for women, involve your male family members if you can!! Men know men, they can vet another man very well in a reasonable manner. May Allah SWT make it easy for all.

I think the family point is a huge one knowing that if you trust your family and let them help you, its almost like Allah found a way through them. Family SHOULD be the place where you have a sense of comfort and openness and something like your first relationship is not hidden.
