British - English - White - Race - Culture and Civilization permeated England before 1900. England’s political Elites felt guilty about their non - white imperialisms and as a liberal form of psychological compensation, invited the former empires non - whites to emirate to England. And now, the chickens have come home to roost. The same thing can happen to your country!

Wonderful to see Margaret Ratherford and such a delightful actress plus, one can see the younger Nigel Stock (famous for) Dr Watson. It's such a lovely film. Thank you so much.

Fantastic record and a great soloist. However, in these transfers, for me there is TOO much mastering and cleaning process involved - the real sound of recording is lost, pity.

I wasnt sure of this but wow , endearing film, even if the overacting of the kids was alittle OTT. especially Petua Clark speaking in cockney .

Contrast to what has been happening these days in Rotherham and places similar. British values. Do seem to have been eroded.

@@stephenlever419 Not quite. Britons rescuing hapless Americans has become a (medal) cliche. Though it's usually a VC these days. But he already had one. Noted film pointed out "cost" of operation on handicapped child. Just a year or two before founding of NHS. It is a film concerning the evolving altruism of British values, purpose and aspiration. Care. without doubt. But the fact there are no obnoxious Americans or Britons (as if they don't exist) is perhaps, too cosy? Or too rose-tinted?

No idea why Frazier didn't ask the general to join or assist the Warmington on Sea Home Guard. Or was Frazier hiding out as a gardener ?? Did he get caught up with one of Walker's blackmarket operations ??

Petula Clark and John Laurie, two actors with long careers. Laurie probably also referred to this part as ‘crap’ , ( his comment re. Dad’s Army.

This movie is sweet and Ms. Rutherford was always a charming actress. Instead of being deceased Uncle Simon's niece maybe the part of Clara should have been written as the his sister instead simply because of their ages.

If the people do not use their rights, they will lose their rights. President Thomas Jefferson is supposed to have said something similar. "The people deserve the kind of government they get." Ironically, sad when the criminal gets punished for hurting innocent people..."Let the people sing" certain ly not on January 6th,...1942 die for the United Kingdom, or would the easiest be to learn German. (Do the people out of there rights. Oh, excuse me as an American I should mind my own business, an unhappy time when nations give up their freedom for iPhones, PCs, & computer chips, eavesdropping, monitoring, and Censorship. ALL ON TOPIC.

Magnificent light comedy. 1938 I was not born born yet, but the spirit of the times, the ambiance was there in 1941. Contemporary society in United States is now "cold" isolated and indifferent. Thank heaven for motion pictures, preserve the past in motion. Maybe imagination, but from a child's view friendly sociable time (but of course the war aways in the background influenced how people thought and acted). Sad, and hidden pain people put up a brave front...
