So awesome! Shalom. This is an amazing looking DAW that I just found an hour or so ago. It beats MPC Beats and Cakewalk. Hehe. Very nice looking plugins it has, too. Hehe. Programming the Akai MPK Mini 3 is so difficult in FL Studio (I have the trial still lol). I did find a free script, which I'll try later today. I found some free drum plugin that works beautifully with drum pads that I found through the same channel that I found this DAW from.

I have never used FL Studio, so I don't know how to do this in it. Aftertouch should work in FL Studio, but I don't know specifically how to get it working, either. I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help! I'm glad you enjoyed the video!

Very informative, but a barf bag should be included with the video for those viewers that are prone to sea sickness. It makes it very difficult to concentrate on what you are trying to demonstrate.

So would I need a MIDI controller keyboard like the one you have in order to switch between tracks? I'm using the Akai MPK mini mk3 and can't figure out how to use it to switch between tracks
@sustainedsixteenthmusic26893 жыл бұрын
I'm using regular MIDI channel changes to change tracks, I just have each track set to its own channel. Looking at the MPK mini mk3, it looks looks like it might be possible to program a certain pad to do channel changes in the setup software, but I don't know for certain. Alternatively, you could use a midi modifier VST such as MidiShapeShifter to program a channel change with different pads. I don't know if that will work, but it's a free VST, so it's worth a shot. I hope this helps!
@GraziTheMan3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the reply! I did end up using the drum pads to switch between the different channels and it was working great. All the way up until I tried to do it while recording lol. Waveform seems to block switching tracks or arming/disarming tracks while recording is in progress. Gonna have to get ahold of Tracktion to crack that egg, I think! Thanks again for the content and the reply.

@@GraziTheMan No problem! That recording issue is strange. Have you looked into punch recording in Waveform? It seems to be what you're describing, and it works well for me, so their may be an issue with your installation. Here's a video on punch recording that might help. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eJvZoIhugMaVbKc . It goes into more detail than is probably necessary for you, but you basically arm a track, press record, then disarm it. Then, you should be able to arm and disarm tracks as you wish. It works that way perfectly for me, but it seems like you might have already tried this, so I don't know. I hope this helps!
@GraziTheMan3 жыл бұрын
@@sustainedsixteenthmusic2689 Yeah Zane's channel was actually what made me choose waveform as a DAW. So far, punch recording in Waveform is track specific, and allows you to either manually arm and disarm a track while the rest of the song plays, or set a range for it to auto punch. Unfortunately, it doesn't come into play when I'm trying to switch my MIDI input from one track to another without stopping first and rerecording. I might have to learn a bit more about the MIDI channels that you were using, because apparently you managed to get it working. Other than that, I think I will have to submit an official feature request!
@sustainedsixteenthmusic26893 жыл бұрын
@@GraziTheMan You're right, I forgot that you can't switch the input device while recording. The kind of hacky workaround that I'm using is using virtual input devices to split the signal of my MIDI controller to several tracks. That way, I don't have to change what input is on each track, I just have to arm and disarm tracks. Submitting a feature request is still a great idea though, as being able to switch devices while recording would really make it so much easier to perform live!

I really liked bars 1-4, 8-10 and the scale in bars 10-11. I think I would have used both of these again later in the piece In bars 16, 18 and 20, I would have had them play in thirds instead of doubling in octaves, or just something else in one of the lines The last thing I'll say is that (as you said) the motif you use a lot only appears for the first time in bar 6, which makes it weaker in my opinion. It's not indroduced as a motif you should listen out for, and then later it suddenly starts repeating over and over. I don't know what I would have done about the first appearance, but I would have definitely used it later starting on different notes (so maybe Bb-C-G instead of Eb-F-C) IDK what other music you write, but this is a nice piece
@sustainedsixteenthmusic26894 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! I listened back to this piece and there are so many things I'd want to change. Especially the trombone part. Currently I feel like it just feels like a bassline, not a countermelody that accompanies the French horn. Also, those octave parts do jump out of the texture when I listen back. I agree that if I did this again, I would change those octave parts. I'm currently writing a sketch of a piece for orchestra/wind ensemble on paper. It's not even close to done, and then I'll have to arrange it and put it into musescore. It's coming along really well at the moment, though. Thanks so much for the feedback!

Quelle était l'ambiance du moment?! ( No sustain pedal ?! )
@sustainedsixteenthmusic26894 жыл бұрын
"Quelle était l'ambiance du moment" - "What was the mood of the moment?" That's a really good question! I was feeling kind of uninspired, so I decided I would just improvise what I was feeling. I really like improvising because I can almost always come up with something, the ideas I stumble across may be quite interesting, and it makes me feel better. Also, I did use a sustain pedal, my MIDI controller has a sustain jack, so I plugged one into it. I also used lots of reverb! :)
