master piece no doubt, but why does the second movement sound so sad? I cry every time I listen to it.😢

I've always found it hard to count the number of the fast four-note figures at the end, but now I see that Rubinstein added a couple extra, and I feel a sense of relief.

The German 6th chord after 1:52 always gives me chills. You can hear it echo throughout the entire cadenza. What an astounding interpretation by Mr. Marc-André.

Other people: If I had a time machine I would want to meet Jesus. Me: If I had a time machine I would want to hear famous composers play their own masterpieces - especially Liszt here and Beethoven with the Waldstein.

I know I shouldn’t be criticizing on this since his interpretation is amazing, but… 3:01 he does the sequence wrong, he does 9 notes instead of 7

The gradual buildup at 1:33 and the MASSIVE crescendo at 2:06 is what I'd imagine Elster regaining her memories would look like. Small glimpses of places she wasn't and lives she never knew of and then an overhelming tide of memories washing over her in a flash like a grand revelation.

The sonata begins very simply: four calm, quietly descending quarter notes in the right hand that return to the first. They are quirkily harmonized, becoming instantly otherworldly. No piano sonata takes you into its realm quite so readily. The left hand at first mirrors the right but quickly inserts a rising idea. A repeated staccato tattoo emerges, which Scriabin notes in the score as a mystérieusement murmuré.
