Someone was playing "Smooth Operator" and some memories unlocked. Now I'm looking for all these Smooth Jazz commercials. Thanks for the nostalgia.

Yeah, well the war of worldwide animation discussed in this documentary (conveniently omited) from this clip was supposed to happen in the spring/summer of 1999. When last I checked that was twenty five years ago.

Yeah Detroit has had several format changes since the jazz station changed. I wish we had a jazz station on FM but I don't think we do. It used to be a soft rock station about 3 years ago.

That kid was nothing like The Carving Guy. He recommended BBQ ribs instead of the lasagna, and banana splits instead of hot fudge sundaes.

My heart started beating differently as I heard this video. I was 21yrs old and both of my parents were still living when this originally aired. I was returning home from the army in September of that year and moved back into our east side Detroit house before moving out to start my career post-military…my younger siblings were still teens and younger. So much time and history has passed…I’m now a married man of 17yrs with 3 teenage children. This really tugs at my heart because it takes me back to far more innocent and simple times for me.

James D. Rolfe (V/O): lately I've been doing these videos where I'm showing all the things that got me interested in monster movies from a young age this is the last of these videos before the month of October hits us and another monster badness is in full-swing so this is a universal monsters VHS series the first one I saw was Frankenstein Meets The Wolfman and from that moment I was hooked I found out you could order them to purchase and that's when I decided I must have every one of them the best part of having these tapes was the advertisement before the movie I love the narrator's enthusiasm yeah do exactly what he says go into the local video store and ask for the Universal Studios monsters Classic Collection say it just like that anyway it was hard to collect all these because they kept coming out with more of them you look at that commercial and see all those tapes you think that's it but there's more then the intro started to change and they started showing VHS tapes flying at the screen oh yeah but every movie that appeared on screen mean another 1995 I had to beg for my parents here's actual footage of my collection around 1995 I had them all displayed like I thought I was running a video store yep the Universal Monsters stood proud in my room there's no space to do that anymore I still have my tapes even though I got them on DVD too I guess I'm too sentimental to get rid of them there's so much more appealing to look at than DVDs sure they take up more space but I love how uniform they look and the covers are so badass that's all I have to say go sink your teeth into something spooktacular

The last time I went to Violent Diarrhea Buffet I watched a fat kid with a big plate of wings take a bite, dip it into the chocolate fountain, take a bite, dip, take a bite. All while talking to one of the drink ladies. Mmmm hmmm. That was over ten years ago.
