Any good Synthetic oil changed every 5k miles with the filter will exceed your engine's requirements. No MLM Amsoil needed. 3rd generation mechanic and engine builder.

Great video! Is it safe to use the negative as ground instead of having a dedicated ground wire? Other lights I have seen have an added ground wire.

Tried Amsoil for 2 oil changes. Not worth the money if you change your oil regularly. I'd never ever got over 4k even with Amsoil. I switched back to Valvoline Advanced.

I work at Valvoline. I watched an entire project farm series where he tests oils in various tests. And even sends them to a lab for different analysis. Amsoil actually blew every other brand out of the water, Pennzoil was the closest runner up. Personally I'm gonna start changing my oil every 3 to 5 thousand miles. So I'll be going with either Valvoline full synthetic or synthetic blend. Otherwise it'd be incredibly pricey..

Can say that despite the high cost of the oil, it’s better than a high cost of repairs. Maintenance, it’s literally exactly what it means.

True, the Signature Series is their top tier oil. Costs more than the Amsoil OE but pretty well the best thing money can buy. If you're going as far as putting Amsoil in your truck, you might as well go all the way. 🤙

You can purchase a new 3rd brake light assembly (part no. 68298380AH LAMP-CENT) for $37.65 from the dealership, at service and parts. Dodge will install it at a labor charge of $30.00. I think the leak problem occurs because if you park your truck outside, the sun damages the gasket seal. So it will need to be replaced every 3-4 years.

I have about 72k miles on mine, I think. 70k something anyway. Not sure how much longer I will keep it. I'm getting older and don't drive it that much. About tired of paying the insurance on it. lol It's good you are teaching your son the importance of maintaining his vehicle. Teaching him to be responsible. Son, listen to your dad. Amsoil isn’t just oil. The api rating is the minimum standard and Amsoil exceeds the standards. “Full” synthetic is merely a group three synthetic made from crude oil. Amsoil signature is made from group 4 & 5 true synthetic products that out perform petroleum.
@jriff79guitar
@jriff79guitar 2 ай бұрын
Just look up their abrasion tests here on KZbin for their signature series vs. the competition. The only one that comes close is Pennzoil platinum in all the tests. People can say just change your oil, "synthetic is overkill," all they want. The point is to reduce engine wear and extend the life of the internal components. Every car I ran Amsoil sig in ran well over 300k miles. The engines lasted longer than the rest of the vehicle. It's worth it, in my opinion. My dad was a mechanic at the Chrysler proving grounds and retired after 30 years. He only used to use valvoline conventional oil until he tried Amsoil in his 408 stroker. Now he runs full synthetic and hasn't looked back. Amsoil is very slick, and that is what you want, low friction. I also have a work colleague who owns a 69 Chevelle SS 454, and he swears it made his engine run a few degrees cooler after making the switch to Amsoil. Low friction means optional horsepower, especially in high-performance vehicles where it really counts. However, it is the kind of thing people have to try in order to way up the cost benefit.
@MilesIzHigh5280

Just depends what video you watch. I watched one the other day where they tested the used oil of each brand after it had been ran for 5,000 miles and AMSoil placed third with Penzzoil Platinum in second and Royal Purple at the top. If I remember correctly out of those three amsoil had the highest levels of aluminum. It was double the amount of both PP and RP but even then it was minimal and not something to be concerned about. I’ve only ran royal Purple in my gassers and Rotella T6 in my Cummins so I wouldn’t know how anything else ran. I think at this point it’s more of a preference for me as is amsoil to you.
@jriff79guitar
@jriff79guitar 2 ай бұрын
@MilesIzHigh5280 right on. I don't run the Amsoil anymore since PP started competing with them. A colleague of mine used to be a dealer, so I would get it from him. Some places carry it, but it has been to get in my area, so I switched to PP. I've used Royal Purple in the past and liked that as well. But I think you are right, it's preference at this point.

I used Valvoline for over 30 years. Had good luck with it, until I did an oil analysis after 6 months of use. The results...not good. I was so impressed with AMSOIL, I became a an independent dealer. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nWWleIZnfc98ebssi=k67KlMRc89gTy8Vf Valvoline used to be one of the oldest American Oil companies, until they sold out to Saudi Aramco in March 2023.

Finally some common sense. Using synthetic oils is way too overkill. Just do regular oil changes. Even mineral engine oils have changed a lot and are now API sN , so I don't see the need of using a 100% synthetic oil, while cheaper semi synthetic and mineral engine oils clean engines efficiently nowadays

It's just oil. They have to meet the same standards as the other oils. If you can afford it then use it but if you want to be more cost effective just buy any full synthetic oil at the box store. And do your recommend oil change intervals recommended by vehicle manufacturer and you'll be just fine.
@lcoi-3200

@Rep1776 SAE stands for Society of Automotive Engineers which is solely responsible for the viscosity classification. Technically you are correct it is a spec you have to meet but there isn't an oil manufacturer in the world that only meets the sae standard. So im unsure what's you are talking about. For example penzoil platinum (an oil I can get for about 24$/gal locally) meets API SP, ILSAC GF-6A which are the same standards that amsoil platinum makes. Study more

Big issue here is that many car mfg’s rec 7,500-10k mile oil & filter changes & your rec to just follow the mfg’s oil change rec using the rec oil has led to many engine failures etc as often seen here on KZbin by qualified engine builders & auto mechanics. The avg what’s called full syn that’s not true group 4&5 full syn oil can’t handle going past 5k miles max where on avg their visc is sheared & additive pkgs can’t handle the long 7500-10k oil drain periods sludging up & clogging oil passages esp for VVT setups leading to at the very least premature oil burning or in many cases catastrophic engine failure esp in trucks with gas & diesel engines under more load carrying more weight or towing. Just search engine failures related to 10k mile oil changes in KZbin or on google before you rec people follow that regime. This is coming from my 5 decades 1st hand Exp of wrenching rebuilding restoring classic muscle cars & motor cycles & not just being a keyboard warrior making rec they have no business giving that over time/miles can really hurt people financially.

@@lcoi-3200 All synthetic oils aren’t the same. Most of the full synthetic oils are simply a more highly refined group 3 petroleum oil. The best synthetics are group 4 & 5 synthetic base stocks.

@lcoi-3200 21 күн бұрын
@darrylsjodin7184 I never said they were the same. I said they have to meet the same standards. Different synthetics may have different blends but they all perform very similarly because they have all passed the same standards. There are cheaper oils that have passed and exceeded the same tests as amsoil. It's mostly a gimmick.
@lcoi-3200
@lcoi-3200 21 күн бұрын
@darrylsjodin7184 not to mention the cost of amsoil is far from cost effective for daily driver vehicles anyway. If spending more money on oil makes someone feel better that's totally okay but you most likely won't get any benefit from it. I have an old beater truck with 400000 miles on it. I buy the cheapest synthetic oil and a decent filter and change it often. Never had any issues.
