For sure....I just took a measurement of the od of the pipe I wanted to use and then went to the store and found a cap that was just a hair smaller!

It's been awhile since I built these but pretty sure it was 3/4"....you want them to fit snug!

Oh I gotcha....well I only use these while launching and the boat launches are pretty safe where I am. I launch the boat, set the dock sticks in place to keep the boat secure while I park my truck, then I remove them when I am ready to leave the dock.

Sorta...I have all my humminbird finders on an accessory switch mounted on the console....the Garmin unit has its own power source straight from the battery...the disconnect for the unit and the black box is mounted in the battery compartment

Forgive me for asking so many questions- Does the garminin fish finder and the Livescope black box operate on the same powered wire or does each have their on power source? Thanks for answering questions.@@BBbroussard

@@ronaldphillips8750 no worries! The black box and head unit are ran on the same power and ground wire....just make sure you use sufficient sized wire for the run you are making....my boat is only 18' long so 8 gauge was perfect for my setup!

So the actual dock stick company (the expensive ones) has a video out that recommends that when you use the sticks try and have the dock side lower or higher than the boat and not dead level. It also recommends that you angle them in a V either with the ends on the boat closer together than the dock ends or the dock ends closer than the boat ends. That should keep it stable because yeah if they are straight at the dock and dead level there’s a chance the bit moves forward or backwards and hits the dock.

The key is to “v” them. So just make sure you don’t put them parallel with each other. You either point the ends easy or toward each other in a v.

I actually have another set that I made this exact way....the hooks do come in handy when all the cleats are taken sometimes to...quick rap around a pole and hook back to itself!

@@BBbroussard We are looking at a 2012 king ranch expedition, but I can not confirm if its really able to flat tow. all my searching online has turned up different answers. hoping to find someone that is towing.

Most four wheel drives are capable of being flat towed.....if you look in the manual for the vehicle it will also explain if and how the flat tow option works!

It will shift the boat around but once it settles back down everything returns back to where you set it...I always make sure in on the opposite side of the wind so it pushes me away from the dock naturally keeping it from contacting the dock.... normally not a lot of waves next to or around our docks since it's a no wake zone
