Yes, you can download in PDF, doc and many other formats in Canva. No, if you use the free templates in Free Canva then there will be no watermark. If you will select the Pro ones with crown 👑 logo on them, then the watermark will be visible, as soon as you start editing it. I hope this answers your question.
