As someone that doesnt do drag racing or really know the history, whats the difference between Nitromethane and Methanol power cars? Figure they switched from nitro due to safety, or i could be completely wrong about the entire concept.
@drag.race.god7316Күн бұрын
If you would start the motor on nitro it would explode, nitro explodes in the combustion chamber instead of the regular gas or alcohol.

NOTHING to include Military Artillery Guns or IED’s, Sonic Booms from Jet fighters nothing I’ve ever experienced in my life before or since compares with the explosive sound (mind you there is a feeling of all the air being sucked inward and then the resounding shockwave) then the boom when the old front engine dragsters would swap over to alcohol and you were in the stands.

I really don't know what I just watched, but that is some quality film footage if it is from the late '60's. That has to be 35mm film doesn't it? I thought this could have been from last month based on the quality of footage and lack of bell bottoms, hair styles (a few beards and everybody ball capped), and nobody smoking a cigarette.

You knew this unit was pre 1970, the motors in the front. Remember when "Big Daddy" almost lost a foot? The next year, he introduced the modern rear mounted engine, "Swamp Rat" that car was considered experimental. It ran solo and is on display at Don Garlits drag racing museum in Florida. It is always great to see operational history. We have to know the past, so we understand the present.
