I love how this game so often foregoes 3D spatialisation in favour of solid stereo sound effect!

Start offering private lessons or create a course. For the money you can grab Ableton 12. I'm in pain watching you have to use 11 being as talanted as you are.

@noahsitrin9823 You're against pirating software, I assume? It's on Audioz if not. I bought mine but yea I wouldn't in this economy, steap prices.. you seam to have quiet a following though, have you thought of creating a patreon or something?

Personally I liked the first version as for a gun with a suppressor, but your edit does sound meaty, so kudos to you :)

really cool sounds man! Could you maybe do a tutorial like this or just generally sound design using free plugins? that would be an immense help! Also maybe showcase your reaper setup? recently got it and its a bit overwhelming ahaha
hey Noah, thanks for another greatly inspiring video! really cool to see all these techniques, stole a bunch :)) also I found out, as @Noldy says, kHs Filter Table is pretty wild for this type of sounds. Just staking some parallel instances with the same table moving in different ways OR totally random complex 'filter tables', gets very nasty very fast! Also, thinking about sharing some more kHs Multipass/Snap Heap techniques in the future? Thanks man and have a great 2025!

i wonder if snap heap/multipass can load preset recursively like a preset contains the same preset that also contains itself inside

I got a lot out of this. Helped me get a little out of the box I was in. Now there is no such thing as too many filters.

the fact you made a 20 minute tutorial basically around the concepts of neuro basses without namedropping that once is really funny to me lmao coming from someone who makes sound design focused music and just getting into media sound design as of recently this is the kind of sound design that i feel like i'm pretty good at but this tutorial showed me a few cool things i'd never thought about before so thank you! great tutorial as always

Noah, it looks like you’re putting some plugins on your master chain (pro-mb, neutron, etc.) that are affecting the sound design of the gun in a linear sense, more specifically for areas of the auto firing sequence when frequency buildup starts to crop up. I did things like that whenever providing a client linear or in-daw video previews. I would start with a single shot, then lay those out for auto fire, and that’s when I’d notice the frequency buildup and apply some plugins overall to the auto fire sequence, perhaps similar to what you’re doing at the end of your video. But we were only asked to provide the single shot audio assets and the client would then sequence the auto fire in their game engine/middle ware. In a linear sense, applying plugins to an overall sequence is fine, but I always struggled with balancing out the end result auto fire in a game asset context, especially when we would only provide single shot assets and that would also have to work as the sound for in-game auto fire. Do you have any thoughts on what a better approach might be for an issue like that? How can I anticipate frequency buildup issues or other rapid fire gun audio type issues when you’re just starting with one single shot sfx ?
@noahsitrin982310 күн бұрын
I mean if you’re implementing them then there’s usually some tuning back and forth from engine to daw to get the performance how you want it, that’s pretty normal. Sometimes gotta make design choices that sound odd in daw but make sense in final context, and the latter is all that matters

Hi! Re the ending Q, my two cents are; Feedback from viewer submissions is definitely something I'm super interested in. I think if you created a submission window where you were transparent about it being reviewed publicly, it shouldn't be an issue for anyone. Honestly the public route I think might be the most beneficial for both the viewers and the submitter, even though it's stressful I think you do a great job of setting a constructive tone & it might really help ppl!

Well, this gun actually sounds way better and different than in a footage you used, you can easily find footage with correct sound. I know its educational video but its just misleading.

I’d like to better understand, did the title lead you to expect this would be the actual in-game sound in Apex or Titanfall? Or was it something else?

This is awesome, I just started working on some scifi gunshots today and this has a ton of great ideas and information, awesome video as always Noah and really enjoy the theme of going back to review work from a different stage in your career to see how you would have done things differently with your current skillset and knowledge.

I think they went for realism in a some weird way. Lazers are high frequency waves after all. My last thing, plasma or electric arcs sound like drowning fire. Well, I way more like guns that kill ears too, but not your bass driven ear drummers.

I really dig the critique overview format. I think a lot of people could benefit from having their designs augmented by a trained ear/trusted third-party designer like yourself (of course, so long as they're fine with it being showcased publicly). It's a great idea and I'd love to see more of this stuff in addition to your usual content!

It does sound much better now. Thanks for the explanation. One question, what plugins are you using there for spectrum and widht analysis? Do you have them as floating windows or are are you actually able to dock them in Reaper? I have my analysis tools in the FX Monitoring chain and that docked, but I can only see one at a time. EDIT: I just saw that you have a video about that on the channel already. Just edited my own screensets. Thanks a lot!
