I purchased a Jet Black and it immediately started cutting in and out, spent $1800 some odd bucks on that amp. I contacted Bad Cat customer service and they told me to take the amp to a local service shop, or send it back to them, When I replied and asked for the repair address and RA# Bad Cat C.S.dld not respond to my emails or voice mails. I'm convinced their C.S. deptartment is run by 17 year old ex-Guitar Center employees. Horrible Amp, Horrible experience. If you are thinking about purchasing from Bad Cat, I'd suggest moving on to a company that values their customers.

I have a PRS Hollowbody II Piezo. It's a unique guitar. I was getting used to it... It has a unique touch of wood. You like playing it with your fingers, there is a specific feeling. It plays very well. I took it as a universal guitar, but it's more for softer styles. It is rich in harmonics, for a more distorted sound, it is good to take away the midrange frequencies. Maybe the 57/08 or 58/15 pickups will be better suited for more rock styles (they also come with Hollowbody) but the low signal "Archtop" pickups I have have just that woody jazz/blues sound! Piezo is another dimension. Mixing it with a humbucker adds a sharper atack reminiscent of a single coil. On its own, the piezo plays beautifully. I was lucky. I bought it from a second-hand store in new condition. For about $2900. Prices are going up, and a new one today ranges from $5,000 to $7,000 depending on the pickups used and the year. But in the end, it's in your fingers :) Good luck.

Sound not matching the video playing. Suspicious as to if this is the sound of this guitar or just guitar lip syncing. Hmmm?
@tpap682710 ай бұрын
Matchless sounds like a vox or dr z. More articulate not as warm or raw. Just a matter of taste. On snall combos i prefer a brighter sound eith chine and better chord articulation. So for rhythm i will take the matchless. The lead tones it depends. For gut bucket blues solos and raunchy blues rock the bad cat. For a creamier smooth tone i like mathless, and vox type tones. The bad cat is more of a hard pick attack, dig deep type of blues solo amp and the natchhless seems to bloom better and responds well to a light touch better

The 22+ has the graphic equaliser … so this is the basic version
@40WattPodcast11 ай бұрын
That's actually incorrect. The 22+ has a master volume on the lead channel. The regular 22 didn't. You can clearly see the + on the faceplate of the amp indicating it is a 22+. The graphic EQ was available as an option on the 22+ but is not always present.

I got one of these in the late 90s. Loved it but let it go because I thought I needed a bigger Boogie. Hated the bigger Boogie and missed my Studio 22+ so much that three years ago I found myself another one. The perfect amp to compliment my boutique tweed knock off. And with that lead channel who needs a pedal board? I have one of course by can’t remember the last time I used it. Although for me this amp is at its best between clean and light crunch. That was apparently how Kurt Cobain used his, although he also used pedals in his chain to create his tones. Couldn’t tell you which ones.

And a surprising fuck up. The tubes are too close to the motherboard so you got a real high chance of your motherboard getting melted by your amp committing suicide!

I finished my p90 Tribute lp and installed the rwrp Antiquity set, 2 Dimarzio custom pots for volume, 1 Dimarzio custom pot for tone (neck only tone control), and moved the new 3-way switchcraft toggle to the vol/tone cavity 4th hole. Works great. Will install Tesi kill switch in the forward switch rout. This Tribute works and sounds great now!!!! You will definitely appreciate removing the junk pcb electronics out of your tribute. My tribute was very low quality - a lot of my Chinese guitars were nicer than the cheaply made Gibson Tribute, a disgrace really ... This tribute is a great guitar now, but Gibson let the customers down with the toy-like pcb based expensive lp type guitars marketed as 'tributes'. There should be legal standards for requirements to market a product as being a 'tribute' model. It should contain core attributes of the item it is a tribute in relation to. This type of thing has built Gibson's bad reputation. Gibson needs to wake up.

Not all gibsoms p90s are made equal. Compare the gribson p90 in a 50's Tribute to an available 2 wire Genuine Gibson replacement p90. Also in the Gribson pcb board models you need not not only replace the pickups but you then need to replace all of the rest of the electronics. This is an expensive and time consuming job. This is because the electronics of the Gibson are tiny plug in wires and connectors that attach to a printed circuit board with permanently attached components. Bizarre idea to attempt splicing into that pcb micro connector. It could ... be done. Replacing the pickups in a 50's Tribute can be a big expensive job. In the end just stripping out the junky pcb electronics and pickups could be a good start. Work on the guitar. Go over your wiring. Change the values of the pots and capacitors. And using a common overdrive pedal like a bossy od-1, green screamer, metal earth breaker, etc., effect pedal can be a great addition when plugging a p90 guitar into an amplifier. Listen to Mississippi queen. You know what I mean?
@matthewbolduc2714 Жыл бұрын
I refer to the guitar by other names, but it is a genuine Gibson, not to be mistaken for an off brand fake. Nevertheless my genuine Gibson 50's Tribute does not reflect positively upon the company. It is cheaply manufactured but of decent core value. After all Gibson has a lot of old jigs and patterns of design shop drawings, and cnc machines. Plus there is no substitute for experience and Gibson knows how to make guitars.

Matchless amps tend to run incredibly hot, pushed to the limits and manage to still hold on tight - but it isn't without the few drawbacks, such as the additional noise from the high end EQ sparkle and hot bias. The bad cat tends to focus sightly lower in the EQ resulting in less noise and possibly more mid/bass control. Drawback being that it sacrifices a large bit of the hairy treble that makes these so well known. Splitting hairs under normal circumstances, but under well pushed limitation conditions, you can easily see which is best for you. Similar to how people choose an SM58 or E835 microphone, they often sound relatively similar until pushed to its limits.

For your lead comparison, I prefer the sound of the 335. But, if you picked an inch away from the neck pickup with the HB II, as you did with the 335, I may have liked the HBII better. As it was, you were almost on top of the PRS pickup. But, I like both of them and the PRS is stunning looking, as well.
