this is something starting to piss me off. Yes, making $100k a year is cool at first, but all the expenses scale up with it. Lately, I've been spending $3k to $4K a month just fixing things. The maintenance is never-ending.

@UnblockedOne2 i have again begun to do side work and i enjoy what i used to do so much more than being a mechanic now. Its ok but i truly enjoyed working outside. I was really burnt out about 5 years ago. Some things i do different now is Resting on sunday and going to church. i really beleive that has helped me be more productive during the week. I have shifted my side work focus to real estate and tree and dirt work i dont mow unless its a property i own

@@connorklein6299 right on. I'm going to go all out one more year (next year). Then, I'm downsizing. I never even had a dream or goal of being in this industry. It was just a side hustle that went too far. Now, I just want to pay cash for a dump trailer & pay off my truck. I've worked 6 days a week for 4 years now. Putting a stop to all that.

I put aftermarket dampners on my freedom Z. It is hard to steer. Makes you go slower though. My Tiger Cub steers wonderful with pump/wheel motors. Just bought a Cheetah and it is jerky. Took the dampners off and they are shot. Just ordered another set of aftermarket dampners with the plan to test the control pull with a fish scale to see what pound pull works the best. Just do not want to pay the OE price. Some of them show the pound pull the OEs don't. Inquiring minds want to know.

Just put a fuel priming ball on the fuel line. A good 2 pumps in the AM and it fires right up.

I also have three mowers. Cut every once in a while, a neighbor's yard. Not full-blown professional lawn care. Started with a Freedom Z rebuild job. It is ok for my property. Then I restored a Tiger Cub (old one) It is awesome with pumps and wheel motors. Then for some reason I had to have a Cheetah. Now have the 2017 Cheetah to get back up to speed. Thanks for the compare. Now I want a Turf Tiger though. LOL

the 131r is my favorite for all around jobs, I bought 2 brand new 131r and they both run very bad and the dealer try to fix them but dont want to replace them, its very sad now I have to upgrade to 240r to avoid this problem. I will maybe give it a try to a 111r because de 240r is too powerful for most of my jobs but not all.

I had someone else running it ..took it to the dealer , they changed belts oils , plugs air filters , muffler everything , still didn't run they said it was the throttle body , I did a compression check and thought no it ain't, two cracked heads , I put new ones on it , she runs good again.. 26.5 hp efi kohler 2017 turf tiger 52"

I’m feeling the same way. After expenses I don’t make very much. Every job has so many people bidding against me I can’t ever get top dollar. I can’t picture ever being able to grow large enough to make real money with all the competitors. And maintenance and repairs consume most of my extra time.
@Zachpoteet380

Same here...$2000 in a week as a solo op seems great, but there's 6-7 total months and that $2000 a week isn't consistent throughout the 28 weeks of mowing. I spent so much on maintenance and repairs, and I spent so much time actually mowing for what I got out of it, and at the end of the season I'm lucky if I have more than $1000 in my bank account. I'm only mowing a little bit here and there, am going to get a 9-5 which I'd rather not do but fucc it...I don't know what's in all the companies bank accounts here but in my area most guys don't seem to be doing good at all. I may try this again full time but if I do it will for sure be in a different area, because as I said it tends not to be that great here, and a few are actually doing way worse than I am

Great video - wish there were more like these. My dealer actually prepped the brake bolts before delivery 5 years ago - I asked about them a while ago when mentioned in another video somewhere. Anyway - great info. What I do before every mowing is use a blower to clean all the grass from the engine, oil and hydraulic coolers, on the mower deck and behind the wheels. I mow 30 acres with tall grass and it gets everywhere! I am amazed at how much accumulates in front of the cooler fans. I also dig the wench setup you have - also the safety jack underneath : )

Yup it's a tough call, especially if you are sincere about always doing solid work everytime & keeping your good reputation to where even others speak of your dependable work favorably to others even when not asked of them to do so for you. Same here but I work on custom vehicle fabrication type of builds in my spare time since my day job is slow on available work & even at that, I have to now bid a fixed firm price for the business year for & i can barely compete with other's inferior but 15% cheaper priced work that has all kinds of lazy shortcuts & about half come back with problems for the regular employees to have to either fix themselves or have to take the time to drive them back to the other cheaper priced business. I was hoping that they could've by now disqualified themselves from being considered but they keep beating me in lower prices & all the new vehicles coming out are only getting harder & more time consuming to work on. The other rival business has screwed up countless cars in the past 4 yrs often needing to go back to dealership often by dumb careless mistakes from that place trying to hurry up & finish... while for the past 12 yrs I've only messed up 1 car due to an honest tool mistake on my part... haha ugh! I am so over it. Im currently trying to switch to doing my part time work to full time once I'm done remodeling my backyard garage shop, so hopefully very soon I can get back on track &stop complaining haha

I stick to residential houses. I use Toro mowers with self propel and I can cut a half acre yard in about 30 minutes. I only work 4 days a week and I made 2k a week. I don't do snow removal it's not consistent enough I just do food delivery.

I'm quitting this year after I finish up with some of my scheduled spring cleaning jobs. I never got passed the "schmuck with a truck" phase, I never had many people or quality clients for that matter. I had decent equipment, but my heart was never in it to understand advertising, marketing, and I never even considered hiring someone. I finally realized I don't care about this. I started getting embarrassed because my customers knew more about general lawn vegetation more than I did.
