Another fun adventure! You can't have alcohol in Minnesota state parks? Nah lol I thought this was America! Lol I say the state owes you a beer or two for all the great videos showing off the parks. Cool park either way! Thanks for sharing brother.

Most of my life I've done my camping mostly in the north, but the last couple of years while exploring these areas on the west side of the state, I've really been impressed. I think alot of people are missing out on these less known state parks. Thanks so much for watching!

Thanks for another great video. Glendalough is truly an another gem (nice thought about Sid Hartman). No RV or trailer sites is especially nice and the trails are great. I hope the park can remain minimally developed for many years to come. I've been there a couple of times - late April and late October - and both times were quiet (lucked out I guess). November might be the optimal time; another trip/date to put on the list. It's nice to see the view from Inspiration Peak remains unspoiled. It was a regular stop when visiting family in Battle Lake back in the day. A year end review and/or thoughts on KZbin would be interesting. Happy camping! P.S. The bench/boxes at the campsites are for marauding raccoons - they're clever little critters, hence the ability to lock them.. 🙂
@stinkleberryfarmer4 күн бұрын
Those pesky raccoons, pretty sure that was what I was seeing just outside the campsite the second night. I really like that area, I stayed there the first time three years ago. The mill to the north and the town of Battle Lake were both huge highlights, just not enough time to document it this time around. Inspiration Peak was great. Thanks so much Peggy!

You crammed alot of hiking on this one man!!! Glendalough is a jewel but very popular, you picked a good time to go as it can get really crowded with people and barking dogs. I actually stayed and parked right by you at site 9 back in September so it is awesome to see you there and reminisce (a little starstruck too!)! Inspiration peak in November was beautiful so thank you for the tour!!! Happy winter camping and see you soon!
@stinkleberryfarmer4 күн бұрын
I came home with about 2 hours of footage, which is alot for me, lot's of editing, but the hiking was just really enjoyable and when there's nobody around, it just makes it easier to record. Inspiration peak was something I've seen on a map and really wanted to check out, I was impressed. Thanks so much Cipher!

Did you go to Molly Yeh's from the food network's restaurant? It's called Bernie's in East Grand Forks. They have Scandinavian/Jewish and other influenced food. It's also a bakery. She also has a show called Girl Meets Farm on the food network. They live on a farm in East Grand Forks.

I forget the exact year, but some of the damage you saw to the trails was caused by a huge flood that was in that area just a few years ago. I know that one sign you showed said 1969, but there was a flood much more recent took out a bridge and did a lot of damage.
@johnkrohn128217 күн бұрын
thank you very much for sharing that video. Camden State Park is near and dear favorite of mine. I live only about 30 miles away. I’ve camped there several times and usually stayed in the campground you were in. i’m a landscape photographer by hobby and actually have a picture or two of that park hanging in the hospital in Marshall. Again welcome to Marshall. Welcome to my area and thank you for sharing the video.

Wish I would of had more time to check out the town of Marshall, but I did stop at the brewery for one. So cool that you have pictures up at the hospital, I bet it's comforting to people who might be anxious there. Thanks for a bit of the history and thanks for watching!

With all do respect, I don't think RV camping is really camping. Oh well rustic is not for everyone.
@stinkleberryfarmer18 күн бұрын
Yeah, I have coworkers who say camping is going to a hotel. I guess everyone has their own definition of camping. More rustic spots for the rest of us! For my next few videos, I'll be 'camping' in camper cabins, because of the colder weather. I still will have to use an outhouse, so thats definitely camping for me. Thanks Chris!

I have a Travel Trailer that I use most of the time and I actually agree with you. I prefer to call it RV'ing and not true camping. ( I still love it though and I'm getting out of the house by using it) I also like going for walks at these parks but, I don't consider that "Hiking" . Hikers are people that put a tent on their back and go for miles out into the woods. I just go for walks. To each their own though.
@CavemanCBB18 күн бұрын
I live near Camden and go camping there a couple of times a year. I too like the non-electric spots in the upper campground. That swimming pond that you see near the end of your video is spring water fed. On hot summer days it's really cool ! ( in more ways then one lol) ... The train is hit and miss. I've camped there when it only came through a couple of times a day. Other times is comes through every 2 hours... That park was built in the 30's by the Veterans Conservation Core. During the Great Depression the government set up a series of programs to put people back to work. Many of MN State Parks were built by the Civilian Conservation Core or CCC . This park was built by the WW1 veterans through the Veterans Conservation Core or VCC. And, you just happened to post this video the day before Veterans Day ! Thank you to all the veterans for their service. Have a nice Day.

I wish I could say that I planned that, but a great coincidence for sure. I love checking out all the old structures they built, some standing, some just rubble. Thanks for the history, and thanks for watching!

Another gem of a park in SW Minnesota. One of the many highlights of the prairie landscape are the small river valleys that create the wooded oases (I had to look up the spelling). Thanks to past generations for the foresight to preserve some of these for us to enjoy today. Happy camping!

You're right, it's nice to have these little areas to explore in the middle of the prarie, and yes much thanks to those who plotted out these areas for future generations. Thanks Peggy!

My sister and I used to play in that quartz canyon when we were kids. On top of the rocks, right where you were, we would be sightseeing and, just 50 yards behind us, a herd of bison. No "restricted" signs back then. Also, in the same area, stood the home of author Frederick Manfred (think I got that right). He was rather reclusive, so we never saw him, but his house was kind of futuristic looking -- for the mid-1960s, when we were there. Anyway, the rock canyon looks exactly, the same, 60 years later, and nice video!
