what does it connect to? is there a motor or does it connect to power? it just showed you putting it into the wall but not what was going on on the other side of the wall

Eco fan runs off a power plug, no motor. For me it was a big waste of money. Knocking out a few extra bricks and replacing the inside vents solved my damp problem

So far, so good! I installed this fan yesterday. kzbin.infoUgkx7yWIKcrbA9KMHkGSfcgxW2lsjHT6B8Sh I've been watching a continuous radon monitor in my house for about a week, and the levels have been running between 4.5 and 7.9 pCi/L. Shortly after I installed this fan, the radon level started dropping, and in less than 24 hours since I installed it, the level is now 1.9. My basement is approximately 2,000 square feet. Total home square footage above basement is approximately 4,000 square feet. The noise level so far is very quiet. Mine is installed indoors, so I had to purchase a cord and connector. If I have any problems later, I'll update my review. But for now, I'm very pleased with it.Update after 48 hours: Using a constant monitor, my radon is now fluctuating between 0.38 and 0.45 pCi/L. I've moved the monitor to my basement and am getting a constant 0.43 reading. After 24 hours, and when I know the weather will be safe, I'll place the monitor outside for about 12 hours. I'm thinking that the 0.38 to 0.45 may be the outside "ambient" radon level. I'm using this monitor (purchased from Amazon): Corentium Home Radon Detector by Airthings 223

what if it is wet outside, this fan will be drawing moisture into your subfloor?? isn't it better to just extract air from out of your subfloor and leave some vents to allow passive circulation?
@meteora88889 ай бұрын
Yes but it would be moving the air and moving air dries out is my guess

*Well-made, delivered quickly, and easy to install with **Fastly.Cool** . I may be imagining it, but it seems quieter than the 14 year-old unit that I pulled out. Of course it was noisy at the end due to failed bearings, so hard to compare.*

Good video. However @ 5:23 He threw an empty box off the roof. It is not a good practice to throw anything off a roof in general. It may have been harmless in this instance, but I've known people who forgot there was a tool or their phone in an empty box and that was the end of that. Not to mention others who "thought" no one was below.

@meteora88889 ай бұрын
For this house they couldn't access the other side so they weren't going for cross ventilation but positive pressure to flush out stake air
@denniskennedy92884 жыл бұрын
If he’s a Roof Expert like he says he should build a back with Silicone on the bottom row of Tiles to stop blow back under the Tiles because with. 75 mm lap on Tiles cutting and bending bottom of Aluminium Flashing will not keep water out .

Is there a difference between pumping air into the basement or extracting air from basement. If I have the option to put a fan into basement, is it better to extract the air form the ceiling or from the floor?
@work2live7563 жыл бұрын
There is a difference and either will help, but - but you need a combination of both for best results.

What if you need light in your ceiling cavity to see what you’re doing, turning the power off is not an option . So why is turning the power off so important if you are going to cut around lights anyway. Don’t most homes have the lights on one circuit and power points on a different one, in which case wouldn’t a work light on an extension lead still be safe ?

I have a large mass of white mould in my basement when we were about to embark on a spray foam insulation application on the joists - we found x2 large white masses. The debris, dirt and moist soil were still there from house renovation days, which we have cleaned out. Even with that soil gone and my dehumidifier down there for a few days, it has started to dull the colour of the white mould. All common sense really. I would still like to get one of these fans, so that we could improve the airflow of the basement.

Yes install at least 4 under vents. In most houses in Australian which existed before 1990 and you will have asbestos, a shame there was no warning in the Edmonds video !

I have question regardin this. I want to put one in my garage because the garage gets super hot in summer. It has no ventilation. Does it matter where I put the whirlybird? For eg the highest point on the garage roof? Also is putting an exhaust vent with fan in the garage ceiling so inside the garage a must for this to work properly?
@bradfordinsulation7 жыл бұрын
Hi Patrick, thanks for your question. We checked with our technical support and this is their response: In terms of where to position the vent - the higher up the roof pitch the better. For a metal roof, the best place is at the very top, were the flashing will slide under the ridge cap. For a DIY tile roof, we recommend 3 tiles down from the ridge cap - this is to avoid cracking the cement pointing when they remove the a tile(a professional roofer would be able to install it up higher as they have the knowledge and tools to do so , however we recommend for consumers to install 3rd tile down). The second part of the question relates to installing a ceiling fan and grille in the garage to support the vent removing heat from the roof cavity. Taking the heat out of both the garage roof space as well as the garage itself would help, so a ceiling grille with a fan would make a difference.

When walking on a tiled roof, NEVER stand on the middle of the roof tile - it is the weakest point. When walking on a tiled roof, ALWAYS stand on the bottom of the roof tile, as it's reinforced by the top tile from the course below.

Because I have a ducted air conditioning system, I have thought for a while that installing a few of these would be a good idea to reduce the heat build-up in the ceiling. I was interested in seeing the complexity of installing one of these myself as opposed to getting a professional installer to do the job. Based on the quality of information in this video, I'm actually leaning towards getting a professional installer to do it. I have some of the tools, but not all, and I definitely don't have the correct safety equipment. I'm pretty certain that a recommended installer could also accurately determine how many vents I'd need to install to successfully cool the roof cavity. Thanks for the detail in this video, CSR Bradford. I'll take a look at some recommended installers in Brisbane and get some quotes. Just a note: the description says "...SupaVent on the *metal* roof of your home". You might want to modify the description, and put a link to how to find an authorised installer in the Video description.

I did 2 on my roof with no problems at all. As long as you can lift the tile out, have a screwdriver, a spirit level and some silicon sealant then you can do it yourself in a couple of hours tops. A ladder would probably be useful also. I'm assuming that these Edmonds SupaVents are basically the same as a whirlybird you can buy from Bunnings, but they look the same. Would recommend starting as early as possible as it gets hot up there.
@jaredmorgs10 жыл бұрын
Lee Meredith Did you use a harness, or did you "free climb"? I take it as long as you walk on the edges of the tiles you shouldn't crack any, particularly if you have a newish house.
@leemeredith240610 жыл бұрын
No harness. Just paid attention to where I walked. Once you are up there it's fine. It's the transition from ladder to roof that I'm extra careful about. Try it this weekend, just get up there and have a walk around. Suggest you wear sneakers tho, thongs are probably not the best.
@leemeredith240610 жыл бұрын
And while you are up there, see if you can lift a tile out. If they are like mine, then you should just be able to lift up the bottom of the top tile and slide the bottom tile out. Some of mine were wired on the inside to the frame, not all, so try a few different ones.
