if they are going PVE focused, they should give us unlimited flight, focus on gear looks/wing upgrades for stats, and let us explore and play how we want, focus on dungeons, open world content, raids. Aion 2 could be the most amazing MMO they ever released, if they'd only focus on giving the players what they want, battlegrounds, arenas, sieges for pvp players, but make the sieges instanced like raids.
@Azphelgg
@Azphelgg 14 күн бұрын
That's what their plan is, more freedom, more flying and more focus on PvE. But you also have to recognize that we haven't gotten any real news about Aion 2 for quite a while, so we don't know how their plans are working and if those plans stayed the same.😅

Hey! I always welcome people to help or correct me if I'm wrong about something, in the end I treat this channel as a documentation of the Aion Lore and Quests. 😄 I cannot say if I will cover the Retail Lore in the future, because there are no real documentations or ways to play through those patches again (only certain patches are available due to private servers). I even talked with Gameforge and NC back when I was in their Hero Program, but both told me that even they themselves have no documentation of the Lore, the Quests and that there is no real way to get these informations (ever) again. So for now I focus on the patches up to 2.X because until then it is the same for classic and retail.

I have a question. where did the Drakan live? did they live on the surface of Atreia (Balaurea)? Could it be possible that Aion created the Drakan as a way to protect his creation from outside forces? (Beings from different world?) Hence the reason why they live on the outer part of Atreia? I'm also aware of the Danuars beings that were created by Aion as the same time of the Drakans. I believe their function is to be the administrative department and the drakans basically lead a coup d'etat.
@Azphelgg
@Azphelgg Ай бұрын
There was always a theory about that, because Fregion found a source of power "outside of Aion's reach" and to this day nobody knows how Fregion actually gained his unbelievable power. However there are no other signs of beings from other worlds or something like that, so it just ended there. I also thought about the Drakan/Balaur, it is kinda weird because they are mentioned inside the planet and outside of the planet. On one hand they are mentioned to rule over the different races - including humans - inside the planet but it is also mentioned that they were created at the same time as the danuar. The Danuar being Light while the Balaur were Darkness, just like the Elyos and Asmodians are now. It is also mentioned that the Danuar were such a gifted Race that they became the Overlords of the outside Planet, what we now call Balaurea. They were capable of defending themselves against the Balaur. One explanation could be that there always was a way from the inside to the outside of the planet and while the Danuar dominated the outside, the Balaur ruled over the races inside the planet and only moved outside when they were desperately searching for more power. (Tiamat)

Don't mention my mistake with the small chatbox in the bottom left corner.. 😅 Anyway, what do you think about the Petraliths and their potential power? Do you think when fully repaired they could become a threat to the Balaur Lords? Also we see many Petraliths in the Aion 2 Trailer - what role will they play there? 🤔
@Badjorraz
@Badjorraz Ай бұрын
do you think Petraliths have to be control like a robot or are they sentient ? Fregion is not afraid of them clearly, but a bunch of them can take out a lot of balaur.
@Azphelgg
@Azphelgg Ай бұрын
@@Badjorraz Petraliths are "alive" but they lack any conciousness and therefore follow the orders of either their creator or whoever activated them. In later patches the Hyperions show up, they are smaller in size but match the power of the Petraliths. And while the Hyperions were built by the Danuar, the Petraliths were supposedly built by Aion himself (according to the Reian).

A bit of a shorter one today, I was kinda busy with streaming my Elden Ring (Bow only) run 😅 Also: NC has confirmed in an earnings report that Aion 2 is scheduled to be released in the first half of 2025. Now this is an earnings report for their investors and such, no official news for us gamers or any additional information about the game or the release itself. They stated before that they want to launch their games globally now, meaning that they publish it in all regions at the same time. We do not know if they still plan to do that, but it would be cool if Korea is not 1-2 years ahead of us.😄
@Badjorraz
@Badjorraz Ай бұрын
I think its a general thing were developers want their games to come out globally instead of just regionally, and it only makes sense, it creates more hype, instead of some parts of the world having to wait a long time for the updates and when they come the hype is sometimes kinda dead already.

No, in classic you do not see the classes: Bard, Gunner, Aethertech and Painter. But you have new classes: "Executioner" and in 3.0 "Brawler". (Executioner both in Eu and NA, Brawler is available in NA but not yet in EU - should be released at the end of the year.)

Short answer: For now I will focus on Elyos only so we can catch up with the current Patch. Long answer: I would say we are like 75% through the Elyos story now. Afterwards I will probably make a couple of videos to summarize the Elyos Story with more editing. (Because even though these videos have a lot of information in them, they are not made in a way that is appealing to many people) I'm not sure what happens after that, the option to do the Asmo Story is open, but it also means a lot of work, since I am not only following the Campaign quests, but I also do all the side quests for additional information and read through all the storybooks to gather more knowledge. 🤓

Short Answer: Aion 1.0 starts in the year 750 - 800 A.C. and in 5.0 we are at least 1000 A.C. (A.C. = After Cataclysm) Long Answer: It's a bit hard to say, but 250 A.C. is when the first big rift in Verteron appeared (with Deltras and the Stormlegion) 750 A.C. is when the Book of Elyos and the Book of Asmodians have been released which both are in the game in 1.0 and 1000 A.C. is mentioned in a later Patch (In 5.0). "He laid low for a thousand years and slowly forged a new approach to his plan as he started to operate under the guise of Lephar and founded the Lepharist Revolutionaries." The wording here is a bit questionable and could be understood as we are 1000 years A.C. but we know that Aion 2 is before the Cataclysm and plays 900 years before the first game, so the first Aion game has to be at the latest in 800 A.C. I do not know if we got any more hints for the timeline in later patches, I do not play retail aion anymore and focus on Aion classic now. The reason I mentioned 400 years was because I wanted to be a bit more generous, Aion had retconned it's story before and if they simply decide to ignore the Book of Elyos/Asmodians then the time window would be much bigger. Because if we take my estimate, we would only have up to 150 years before the Cataclysm happens in Aion 2. 🤓

As you know, I'm not that interested in MMORPGs. But Aion was already a game that got me hooked when I played it. Firstly because I was fascinated by the character creation, but I also liked the world itself and the combat system. When I started Aion again years later, it fascinated me and also picked me up as a newbie. The environment was simply beautiful and I also found the story and the characters exciting. You were free right from the start and the tutorial quests weren't as annoying as they often are. I also played Throne and Liberty and the character creation was one of the best I've ever seen! But that was almost the only thing I liked. There's no story at the beginning to pick you up somehow. Even though my playthrough wasn't that long ago, I can hardly remember anything. Something about star shards I think, but I have no idea how I have any significance in the story. With Aion, at least you know you've lost your memory and I love everything about collecting the memories and watching my character be a hero on the one hand then appear as a hero through main and side quests as well. In Throne and Liberty you were thrown into so many small, unskippable quests and you couldn't decide to explore the world first. That just annoyed me and the dialogues didn't catch me either. But the weapon system did pique my interest. The possible combinations alone are simply wonderful and it's great fun to find and perfect your own fighting style. But shortly after that, the tutorial continued in a trivial and, in my opinion, stupid way and robbed me of all interest. I'd love to see AION 2 take a leaf out of the character creation and weapons book, but I think I'd miss the classes too. It would be a good opportunity to introduce more classes or class expansions like Dragons Dogma Mystic Spearhand or Trickster. Do you think such a possibility would be a thing for NC Soft? Last but not least, I completely agree with you about the cosmetic candy, I hate everything about it! OH! And we must never forget how nice it is to collect before the quests in Aion! ARIA FOR PRESIDENT! 🥰
@Azphelgg
@Azphelgg 2 ай бұрын
Yea the story and how you are thrown into it is not a great experience for new players. I also never liked these handholding tutorials where you have to follow the tutorial for the first 5 or 10 minutes, it is exhausting. Aion 2 will have a similar weapon system to T&L, this could be positive or negative, I mean I like new inventions but I'm also afraid because it changes a big core mechanic of RPG's and therefore it has a lot of potential to fail. Hopefully crafting and collecting will play a bigger role in the new Aion 2 game! 😄

It is hard to predict anything regarding Aion 2, since the latest official information came in 2022 and since then it has been mostly leaks or mentions from earning reports, for example that they use many more people now for their new flagship title aion 2 which is not using UE4 anymore and instead got upgraded to UE5. But the information we got before all these adjustments was that Aion 2 should focus more on PvE than the first game. If this is still the plan - well nobody knows. However I have some new Info on Aion 2 and I will make a short video about it next week, nothing crazy but some lore, regions and pictures. 😄

Since the making of this video, Throne and Liberty already had an update which will adjust the combat system. I don't know all the specifics about it and if it will change the direction for the game drastically but I assume T&L not being in the Top 50 games in Korea gave them motivation 😄

PvP is what made the game challanging and fun. Problem is they are catoring to PvE players and will likely lose the remainder of the OG playerbase... I remember Aion retail at its peak. NC does not do PvE well. Tank and spank with a few mechanics. Just go play FFXIV if you want a great story and no PvP.
@Azphelgg
@Azphelgg 3 ай бұрын
I somewhat agree, I loved the PvP from a long time ago, but these days it feels like Pay 2 win and zergs are just ruining and preventing the PvP fun we had back then. But maybe that's just me prefering Solo or small scale PvP and thinking competitive PvP in a game with Pay2win is a waste. Furthermore I think the "OG playerbase" for Aion in the west is so small that they can only make a step in the right direction. In the end it will be a new game on a new engine, so with the exception of some key parts like the lore, it will be something very different that is not directly aimed at the current playerbase of Aion and instead aims to get many new and returning players into the game with something the first aion game had always promised - better fights that include aerial moves. While I have my own concerns for the game, I still hope that it will be a success. 😄

@Azphelgg
@Azphelgg 3 ай бұрын
Well it depends, I for example don't think Aion PvP has developed in a good direction. With pay2win and most open world pvp being zergs, I think it has lost a lot of the charm and fun it had before. That doesn't mean that you shouldn't enjoy it, I'm happy for you if you enjoy yourself and keep going! I personally love the battlesystem in Aion, in this sense for me there is not necessarily a better PvE game than Aion. You can argue about how raids/dungeons and bosses are done better in other games and I would agree, but the battlesystem still feels superior in Aion in my opinion. And that is about to change with Aion 2 anyway, so we will see if it passes the battlesystem test, because if it doesn't then it doesn't even matter if they focus on PvE or on PvP.😅

Making Aion PvE driven will kill the game. There are already too many other MMO that do PvE way better. The mechanics are even designed around PvPvE. I think they need to stick to there roots and find balance

@@Kush2020 If you talk about Aion, then yes it should stay as it is now, no reason to pivot anymore. When it comes to Aion 2, it is practically a new game with a new direction, new battle systems, on a new engine, etc... Aion 2 for example will not have the usual class system that we do have in the first Aion game. With this many changes in it's structure it is not a situation where they have to stay the same, they can innovate and improve in many different directions. If it's good or bad depends on how they do it and who you ask. I simply hope for the best. 😄

I wanted to know the lore, but again, just like you said, the lore was hidden, fragmented, and hard to reach sometimes. BTW thank you for making these videos!

Yea, the way I have to figure out the lore is by recording and writing down every quest one after another and then at some point I can summarize them and actually explain them. And as I mentioned in the video, you simply can't remember all those snippets of information because maybe you need 10 hours of gametime to go from Lv 20 to Lv 31, that in itself is a long time but then you also have other questlines that throw their snippets in the pot as well and maybe you even take a break for a few days because you are busy in real life. You simply won't remember the details unless you write it down yourself but most people don't want this type of extra work, which is completely understandable. 😄 Thank you for being here!

When level cap was 50 in retail, people were very much invested in the world and lore, and the game even had some RP population. Seeing the story going to a different direction, also the poor execution overall of the 55 content such as Balaurea and its regions which was much more shallow, with a lot less to explore.. took away alot of interest from the game and generally kept the players who are deeply invested in character progression and gameplay. You can see it even in today's classic version, how drawn and invested people are into Atreia and the Elysia-Asmodae war rather than the Balaurea conflict: in 1.9 version there were groups formed purely for the intention of doing PVP, whereas today people only do PVP out of reward necessity, to get 5 kills every day only to spend time behind their fortresses and doing pve. You can also say that NC wasnt really pushing the story too much... barely any cinematics, and when we got those they had poor direction and execution. As a game that was designed to be a wow killer, wow was and are always pushing a lot of their story as a main aspect of their product, and it keeps the players drawn and engaged for decades.
@Azphelgg
@Azphelgg 3 ай бұрын
You think so? I never had anyone really talk about the Lore or be invested in it or there weren't any videos back in the days. But maybe that was simply that my focus was different back then. PvP back then definitely was more fun than it is today, you had less zergs and less pay2win which in my opinion was very good for the game. I actually wanted to include your last point into the video at first, mentioning that they don't really invest anything in their cinematics or good storytelling with a slideshow of pictures, even that would be enough for a lot of things. You gotta remember Aion was insanely popular in korea, it was the number 1 title for 160 weeks, the money for keeping the hype up, by for example making a quality cinematic, should have been there. Even the comics that they did make (and they are actually very well drawn) they are for some reason not available in english for the west anymore...😅

As i see it, Aions main focus is gameplay and pvp, which is why the lore is often convoluted and (maybe?) not always thought through. Im interested in seeing what NCSoft will do with Aion's 2 story
@Azphelgg
@Azphelgg 3 ай бұрын
The lore is actually very thought through, especially in 1.0 with spoilers hidden in side quests and storybooks, like the archdaeva story is mentioned in 1.0 even though it only is really played in 5.0, the child of the two empyrean lords is mentioned and it's story even told in 1.0 while it only gets really revealed and 3.0. Only in later patches some stuff actually conflicts with each other. I think Aion 2 has to be more focused on the lore, since they said that PvP isn't as big a focus as it was in the first Aion game.😄
@Azphelgg
@Azphelgg 3 ай бұрын
This is not meant to be negative towards the game or the lore, I simply wanted to have a little ramble about how I think that it could have been done in a better and more engaging way. Also I don't know if I expressed perfectly what I meant with the first and second reason: The first reason is an example that you only get little snippets of information every like 5-10 levels for a specific questline. The second reason was to show you that you have five of such questlines at the same time, dragged out over your entire leveling process. This makes it complicated to understand and remember everything, because you are doing so much other stuff inbetween. Maybe a Lore summarization in the questlog would help to read up on what you mabye missed or forgot in the meantime. And let's be honest whatever we have in the finished questlog info now, is simply useless. 😅
