I do have 1 question tho, since my server (and yours in the video) are already EOL from HP's perspective, are there free or cheap license keys that we can get to 'activate' the ILO for our own remote access use? anyone in the chat have an answer, much appreciated.

I found your video, watched and it was VERY informative and helpful. I got an older hp proliant dl580 g5, from where I worked (it was a decommissioned unit from one of our clients). It works fine, did come with the built in smart array p400 and the secondary add in pci card for 2 HP smart array p400's. has both drive bays and 15 drives, 72gb/15krpm, of which 5 had failed, the array failed but can be rebuilt to what I choose. it only has 1 proc and 8gb mem atm, and both batteries for the cache (BBWC) are bad. using this as a lab server for learning a few things and to possibly build a minecraft server for some of my friends and I, also maybe a plex server. you video was helpful in understanding the ILO part.

Were you saying anything?, I could not hear your voice over the music. If you don't want to hear about it over and over again, delete the video from KZbin, load the video into your editor, remove all the sound and record your voice on top of the video and upload again.

I have an earlier model of Toughbook that ran Windows XP; I actually took two different ones I got off eBay and mixed and matched parts to get a whole one. It has the extendable antenna on the top of the screen and the proper Cisco WiFi card (which is actually an internally mounted PCMCIA/PC Card). You could throw that thing against the wall and it would damage the wall. I actually impressed people with how tough it was - by putting it on the floor and standing on it. On at least one occasion a Toughbook saved a soldier in the Middle East....by actually stopping a bullet. Did I mention you can set it out in the rain and it wouldn't bother it either? I intend to get a newer one; they have SSDs and they even have a 2 in 1 tablet one (the CF-33).

Video is mistitled . This applies to this particular server but not all brands of servers. It's just a BIOS change, not like a rebuild or replacement of fans to quiet the server. The "your" in the title does not apply other than as clickbait. It should read "HP Server" or similar.

I got an old HP ProLiant server, and it doesn't have the thermal configuration option, but it still runs pretty quiet.

May I ask how is your monitor connected ? via vga - I connected a video to my server and can't get anything to display.

I Have a server that is pretty loud and tried to do the same thing as in the video but it didn't make any difference. Im guessing that the problem could be that the fans of my server are hooked up to a separate board or that that board is only connected via a 3 pin header to the motherboard. In any case if someone has knowledge and time to help me i would be more than happy.

It would useful if reviewers knew all functions and did the requisite research before "ummiing" and "soing" for 20 minutes without demonstrating actual uses. PCMCIA slots allow for direct, fast access to the CPU and allow for extra storage, ports which might be needed and even cards containing standalone operating systems including some Linux ones. One interesting thing, it happen to me on some older HP, in my case server was loud until i power both power supplies. I had one server that go full burst when have single PSU powered (was in power failure mode) - after connecting both PSU (to same socked, i did not have two phase system) - it went into normal mode and went quiet. I believe both PSU share load and don’t require much cooling in compare to situation that one is carrying whole server. It’s just interesting thing that happen to me and maybe help someone.
