I remember my mom telling me that she was there in Hogan High school 1989 when Dre Performed that song because that song "Too hard for the Radio was everything in Vallejo, and still is till this day and she also says Mac Dre was so popular that everybody knew he was next up Rip to the late Great Mac Dre

I am from Vallejo, California born & raised. Sadly looking back on my life I regret being so closed minded & rebelling against this type of music. I never hated hip-hop/rap but opted to be different. Point it I have recently learned how Mac-Dre himself was such a trailblazer in not only his style of 'raps, but promotion. Hence the Vero popular 'Thizz-TV' DVD's. I don't think any rapper set the pavement for doing things like that, back in the early 2000's.

I was 14 when Stupid Doo Doo Dumb came out, living in Concord, CA, in the East Bay Area, and had just started smoking weed. Listening to his raps for the first time, high as hell, I was hooked. His flows and lyrics were on another level. He was so good it made other artists on the track sound amateur by comparison (apart from Andre Nickatina and Smoov-E). If you listened to rap in the late 90s and early 2000s in the Bay, your favorite rapper was Mac Dre. I got to see him at Rasputin Records in Pleasant Hill, CA. Mac Dre loved all his fans-Black, White, Asian, Mexican, Indian or whatever you are- he was Non-Discriminant, which is also the title of one of my favorite tracks. We all couldn't wait for his next albums to drop and would buy them the same day they released. Bangers on every track. Most rappers' albums will have like 3 or 4 tracks you listen to, but Dre's albums were 100% fire and kept getting better with each one. What really made him blow up in popularity was when he dropped Treal TV, which he filmed the intros for at DVC in Pleasant Hill with the help of his boy Justin Lomax, which is also where I went to college. No matter where you went, everybody would be saying the same thing, "Hey bro, have you seen Treal TV yet? We gotta watch it right now." Anytime there was a party, they would put on "Thizz Dance" at the peak of the night and shit would go crazy stupid with everybody giggin'. He was starting to gain popularity outside of just the Bay Area and we all knew Dre was about to blow up. His talent was unmatched and was key to the hyphy movement at the time. He was supposedly about to start touring the country with E-40. I was born on November 1, 1983, and went to San Francisco on Halloween night 2004 to celebrate my 21st birthday. Everybody was bumpin' Mac Dre, and some dudes even ghost riding their whips next to us got arrested. It was peak Mac Dre craze era in effect. Only to wake up hungover on my birthday to the most tragic news possible in the rap community: Mac Dre had been shot and killed in Kansas City. I couldn't believe it. Still to this day, it was the only time I actually cried when hearing about the loss of a celebrity I was a fan of. Me, all my friends, and everybody were devastated. We would never get to hear a new Mac Dre album again. He was and always will be my favorite rapper. For a while, I didn't even want to listen to new rap songs because nothing could come close to the talent and rush of Mac Dre's verse on a new album. I am honored to share my birthday with a day we will always remember the greatest rapper to ever bless the world with his genius. I still bump Mac Dre songs all the time, even today in June 2024, and damn, I can't believe it's been almost 20 years now. I give props to all the rappers that helped keep his legacy alive long after he left us. Mistah Fab's "Still Feelin' It" released in 2016, and even had a remix made with Snoop Dogg and G-Eazy in 2017, goes to show how important his legacy was and how much respect he had in the rap game. Even Drake dropped Mac Dre mentions in his music when he was the most popular rapper. Lil Jon dropped a track with Mac Dre in 2019. I appreciate anybody still keeping his legacy alive. Man, I can only imagine how many banger tracks and new albums we would have if he wasn't taken from us. My respect and condolences to his mom Wanda and his daughters. Rest in Paradise on Rappers Island, Mac Dre the Furly Ghost.

@Incarnaxion4747 me too bro I can only imagine the kind of dope shit he would be making in all these years that we've missed his genius. Can you imagine all the stuff he would have made in the 2010s. Mac Dre was an Illuminati sacrifice. You have to peep the signs and symbols with your third eye. Notice that Drake’s career really took off after Mac Dre’s death - that’s when Drake joined the Illuminati & had Mac Dre murdered & sacrificed to Lucifer. It’s a conspiracy. MAC DRE - 6 letters. Drakes AKA name: DRIZZY - 6 letters. Drakes government name: AUBREY - 6 letters. 666!!! That’s why Drake mentions Mac Dre in his song, to subliminally signal to the satanic secret society that secretly runs the music industry in secrecy. On Degrassi Aubrey was in a wheelchair. Mac Dre was known to say “go dumb” & “go yellow bus”, using short yellow buses on the imagery of tee shirts & fliers. Who rides on short yellow buses? That’s right - people in wheelchairs. It’s all connected. Y’all better wake up!! 👁️

“Yet his influence still goes unnoticed by much of the mainstream music world.” For the most part, I’ve never had any respect for the mainstream music world when it comes to Hip Hop. Real, quality Rap music has always come from the underground. Sometimes it is so good it’s inevitable that the mainstream has no choice but to accept it and promote it. But for the most part? “Major” labels (if you even want to call them that anymore) can eat a d|ck!! Thizz is peace Furl!
