Great review. I have the Skogso and it's a brilliant, breathable jacket - perfect for dog walking. I have it lightly waxed for a touch more rain resistance. The arms are very long, so I have tucked a cuff-length (2inch) layer of the arm material under the cuff and added a couple of discrete stiches to hold it in place - looks totally normal and no cutting etc.
@WatchesKnivesEDC8 күн бұрын
Thanks! It's become my go-to jacket for doing stuff in the great outdoors. I went mental waxing it so it's pretty good in the rain now. I love the long arms but your solution sounds very clever 👍

@WatchesKnivesEDC10 күн бұрын
I can't tell you from experience as I simply don't use this bag as a backpack, but I imagine after an hour or so it'd start to get annoying! Those backpack straps provide, as far as I'm concerned, a great additional carry option, but are a bit of a red herring; (for me) it's not a backpack, it's a travel pack with carrying straps.

why is it that everything these days have to be so damn big and heavy. watches and cellphones. cellphones are basically a tablet and watches are like a brick. they used to make great watches. not anymore.
@WatchesKnivesEDCАй бұрын
I agree - most of the watches I *actually* wear are quite small. This one however is a) from around 2010 and b) is full of so much ridiculous technology that it needs a lot of space! I'm with you though, things are just too big nowadays :-(

1:25 Fjälräven had this clip on their backpacks already in the seventies. Proven concept and nice to see it again on modern bags. As it is a G1000 material bag you can use the Greenland wax too to make it very very water resistant. And more durable. I use that on an Övik bag and it works. Wearing a Greenland coat too?

Thank you! You hit on so many important points, like the inside colour making it easy to find stuff, or showing how much "give" there is in the laptop compartment. I am looking for a bag exactly like this for multi-purpose use (additional bag for longer business trips, touristy stuff, walking...). And the laptop compartment looks flexible enough to hold my Steamdeck. Just need to decide between the medium and small one... (Shout-out to the birds for providing the perfect background!)

I have a theory about why they changed the design of both the medium flathead and the Philips head drivers: in the original design, the middle tools in each handle (medium flat on one side, Phillips on the other) provided an opening for the pliers when the tool was closed - but the design also allowed those specific drivers to deploy almost along the centerline of the tool, which is close to ideal for turning screws. HOWEVER, since those tools didn’t lock, it was possible for the drivers to collapse under pressure. The later design deployed the drivers far to one side of the handles, so applying force to the handle tended to leverage the driver toward the open position, decreasing the likelihood of the driver collapsing. That’s my theory and I’m sticking with it.

I just got mine and was hoping you'd explain the second strap you get on the back. But you've removed yours? And don't mention it. I didn't know about the secret pocket so thanks for that. Good video. Nice style and tone. Relaxed.
@WatchesKnivesEDCАй бұрын
Yeah, I didn't mention it because I didn't have one on mine (I got it 2nd hand) - sorry! However, I now know it's a waist strap you can use to keep the bag close to you if you're cycling for example, or to avoid that annoying 'shoulder bag swinging round into your face' scenario if you reach down with it on. It's a great feature, well thought out, and having it removable is handy too (except if you buy it and don't realise it's missing!)

Why a premium price for a watch as you've mentioned, made in China?
@WatchesKnivesEDCАй бұрын
That's a tricky question to answer! But I'll try. It doesn't seem like a premium price to me, it seems quite reasonable. The watch was designed in England and I suppose their manufacturing options are relatively limited. Being made in China isn't by default a bad thing, especially when it's so well made - the finish is great and the materials are good quality. Also, the key components - the movement and SuperLuminova - are Swiss. Ultimately I was happy to pay what I paid because I love the watch!
