I do not recommend to use flask with flat bottom for vacuum destillation, lucky it didn't explode that time.

You tipped the distillate back into the boiling flask. Why not simply reflux? Is there something I am not getting?

Why no straight conformation with the nitrile group, it’s not bent

I have never been more angry looking at a chemical structure in recent memory. 😤 My brother in Christ if there’s a triple bond it ain’t supposed to be bent like that

9:45 : gorgeous sublimation! I love that you were able to succeed with this dehydration without using something like P205. Scanning your past videos, looks you have the ingredients for some very interesting perfume indeed. Thanks!

that stirrer has seen some sheit so much that even the knob had to be covered in aluminum foil hehe i was also using that glassware when i started doing chem, before you buy too much chinese glassware, id recommend you check out secondlab (not to advertise him or anything but) Benzonitrile is a very nice and versatile starting compound, an even quicker and higher yielding method for making substituted benzonitriles is by starting from the aldehyde and reacting that with hydroxylamine hcl. doing a grignard with the bromobutane and the benzonitrile would now also be a very nice way to convert something kinda chemical cherry smelling into something offering the same "that kinda smells good but not really" esthétique

Please, please no more music--it distracts badly from an otherwise nicely done synthesis and explanation of what is happening.

Na percarbonate is used in whitening toothpastes to bleach enamel. Unlike the percarbonate, Na perborate contains a peroxide linkage in the molecule itself. It also has dental applications and is inexpensive. Will it also digest gunk?

Would be an interesting product if you were to see methyldioxyephedrine come on to the shelves. It does exist, but I don't known what it would do. I'm thinking the hydroxylated version of mdma.

so i never used it to clean a condenser but ideally you put percarbonate into your dirty flask and then add boiling hot water. amazing that it still worked
@PoorMansChemist8 ай бұрын
I usually distill some HNO3 or Br2 through it followed by a rinse and then soap and water scrub with brushes. I will usually rinse with water then acetone and dry with a heat gun. But your method sounds a lot safer for the average person to do.
