@@riverbraid"Pole" gave the right direction. They're called "Deacon Poles". I had a quick search and came up with this: "In Freemasonry both the Senior and Junior Deacon carry long staffs, or rods. Because they are messengers of the lodge, the rods they carry are symbolic of the caduceus, or wand, that the Roman winged god and messenger Mercury carried. The rods are topped by their jewels of office, to match the ones on their collars." I suppose it must be similar within the Orange Order or the Royal Black Preceptory. ​@adrianwalker2833 close, the deacon poles are in Orangeism meant to symbolically represent Aaron's rod, basically the walking sticks of Aaron and Moses. No deacon poles are used in lodge so I'd doubt any meaning or purpose of being a messenger carries over from freemasonry. That and there are no such roles as deacon in any of the Loyal Orders. In terms of practicality, they are meant to be nothing more than marshalls ceremonial weapons same as Swords, the ones who carry them guard the rear of lodges.
