There could be one or more of very many things going on. What does the Profiler show you with regards to whether you're CPU bound or GPU bound (I'm guessing CPU but you never know until looking)?

Hey, I know this video is old but I’m just wondering why you never mentioned instancing. AFAIK you can render hundreds of thousands of objects without any performance drop even on mobile.
@CassiusJohnAdams Жыл бұрын
It depends on the kind of instancing you're referring to. There's instancing of the materials happening on the GPU. If you mean mesh instancing on the GPU (caching?), I didn't really get to doing that in this project. But there is a fair amount of batching happening. Maybe I mentioned some of those in the other videos.

@@CassiusJohnAdamsyes, I meant geometry batching as it’s more convenient. Anyways, I liked the progress you made so far. It’s fun to watch

volumetric lighting would be a perfect fit for your game, great video
@josiahjack455 Жыл бұрын
Nice! I wonder if the camera pans when dropping them off would be better if the angle of the sweep were halved so it isn't as jarring. A night mode with some bloom for neon lights would be amazing
@josiahjack455 Жыл бұрын
Also, adding basic keyboard support, while probably not as fun, would be a good idea. Could probably add some sort of lerped ramp in over some short time period so it's easier to feather the controls when using keyboard keys.

Right arrow key to expand Left arrow key to contract Tend to find myself using up and down arrow keys a lot as I nitpick lots of similar gameobjects for ones with mistakes. Have to click on one first. Also....minimize nesting on things that move as much as possible.

I did/am, yes. Spent like 14-16 months of making those assets with the intention of re-using them some day. It only makes sense to re-use and update them for this game. :) Won't be the exact same city layout though.

not performance related but i feel like the city looks too monotone from what i can see . there is no distinct theme or land marks in any specific area so all the streets look too similar in most directions. i suggest making more unique things for each area that can function as land marks for players to navigate around and make your city more lively and memorable .

I really like the concept of a taxi driver game in a futuristic setting with flying cars, and that's why I think this didn't need to borrow Crazy Taxi's direction like this (90's "radical" attitude, campy humor and the color pallete). In a possible sequel, it would be great to use this concept in something with more attention to atmosphere and world-building: then I believe you'd get something that could really stand out.

I'm having the issue where I want to drag multiple sprites from my Project into a parent folder within my Hierarchy set up. It only allows me to do one at a time and when you have tons of items, this can be very tedious. Any time I try to select them all and drag all together at once, it gives me a prompt to create a new folder within the project, which I don't want to do. What magic trick will make this work?

I want to buy this game Thursday, when I get paid. But, I would like to know first, you say in this video that it's finished, but from the reviews so far it seems very basic at this point, and I'm wondering if there will be regular updates and improvements going forward. You don't really speak on this in the description of the game or this video- What are your intentions?

Why do you need a gamepad. I bought the game exited but it just says gamepad not detected. It's on steam a pc game store. What the heck
@gman102formyspace Жыл бұрын
A lot of games on steam are developed for gamepad in mind. Some are even gamepad only. This one isn't the only game to do that
@ShadowAngel1860 Жыл бұрын
@@gman102formyspace Doesn't change the fact that gamepad only on PC is really strange and doesn't make a lot of sense either. It's definitely a reason why this game is such a fail.
@gman102formyspace Жыл бұрын
@ShadowAngel1860 doesn't change the fact that the gamepad on pc is strange for you is just a personal opinion, not a fact.... and so is that the game is a fail. Maybe to you. I'm digging it. Most PC players I know switch to a gamepad when a game needs them to drive, driving is just objectively better with a gamepad or actual steering wheel. So, to complain that you can't use a keyboard and mouse in a game where you're basically driving a flying car in a 3d plane is wild to me. And if it bothers you that bad, there are programs to download that let you emulate a gamepad and bind keys to it, but I do not recommend that for this game

Dude why... the concept is so cool! i used to love crazy taxi and i love the fact that this is futuristic. that being said i was sadly let down even with just 5 mins of playing it. The elevator sceen is just weird? why on earth would showing buttons illuminate up to 670 make me feel like this world is huge? if anything it makes me feel like its small because you arent showing me the actual world instead you are showing me the door of an elevator which is even futuristic looking! you could have taken inspiration from starwars episode 2 that elevator sceen atleast shows you the world in the background... or just some quick aerial shots of the coolest sections in the map idk just anything... the choosing the character animation takes way too long and awkward. At first i even thought it was forcing me to play as a character due to the weird panning and seeing the character drive off. just have them drive off to the side theres no need for the player to watch them drive off unless if you press ok the controlls are wonky..the fact that it doesnt let me play without a gamepad even if im on a computer is bad. there is no image to show you what the controls are on the game pad and no way to customize them. i have no idea how to go up or down fast which is odd since its a flying car game. theres also like a weird height limit warning? which not only ruins the vibe since it seems to be very restricted but also i guess it wasnt tested because some of the heights for the passengers and their destinations are crossing those lines... its just ehhhhhh the thing that made crazy taxi was going through areas you wouldnt be able to go through (grass buildings paths etc)..and having those boosts jumping off cliffs exploring etc. the way you made the map is just unfortunatley bland and uninspiring sadly because its just blocks with pretty decals on them. You couldve made the buildings different heights have them more futuristic...have you go through buildings.. like even batman arkham games has a cooler looking city Because it is varied and they arent just all blocks....have you destroy some electronic signs like collectibles like in burnout paradise.... have the buildings so they are round or odd shapes which would make the pathing more interesting riding aswell instead of the current straight hard left or right... its a car game....what good car game doesnt have curves?!?!? drifting is arguably one of the things that defines a good car game... besides boosts and fast speeds and destroying objects.. just make the map more interesting.... have a night mode to have the neon colors stick out and please synthwave cybepunk community like there is so much you could do to actually make this a fun game. the voice acting is pretty bad ... i know that crazzy taxi was obnoxious aswell but this is almost 20 years later this game should be an improvement not a downgrade And i think thats just the main problem with this game. This game really didnt bring anything new...theres been 1000s of games that came out since which you couldve taken some inspiration or from movies, music, paintings ,cartoons,shows, etc etc to make a mix mash and create something unique ...but instead it just seems like it was a forced worse copy of an arcade game from the 2000s with some fith element city but unimaginative. like even the menu you could have made it more unique....like futuristic how an arcade game in your head would be in the future.. but no its just crazy taxi or a university student project... the only thing that seems to be pretty good is the music
