Cans of water. Bottle get nasty tasting but the cans of water stay good longer. So you have something to rehydrate before moving out. Dig it.

The US Geological Service (usgs.gov) has downloadable topological maps of the entire continental US. Get some for your area and have them laminated, or at least keep them is a sealable map case. Pre-mark them with all your bug out locations and routes, include things like hiking trails and logging roads, also fire lookout towers. Get a ferro rod and learn how to use it, lighters and matches break or get wet. You can also use petroleum products as an accelerant for wet tinder, so I keep a tube of Vaseline in my med kit. An alcohol stove and a metal cup with tea bags (not coffee!) is vital in snow country, it will save your life and won't be seen from more than twenty feet away. Some heavy leather gloves for lots of reasons, a bug net and some DEET,

A 'Go Bag' is different for each person. First option is ALWAYS ALWAYS bunker in, stay home. However, times dictate when we do have to Evac, fires, hurricane, 'most peaceful' riots, earthquake, floods, whatever. ALWAYS unique to the person, consider health, younger, middle-aged, seniors, family, knowledge and skills, and surroundings. Urban city different from New Mexico desert, from Florida everglades, from out west farms and ranches. If you have mostly highway and roads or more lakes, rivers, streams. Must not forget, OBEY THE LAWS WHERE YOU LIVE.

When you do your drills, do you do it in those same woods ? I'm constantly asking myself why get a CC if i can't do drills. What do you do? Great video per usual Kel and i support this type of content. Love me some Kellen and his boy Chief to teach me tactics

re the liquid IV, here in UK in some cheap shops, we can get fizzing rehydrating tablets for about 12 tablets for £1. BUT dont take them out of the tube, they spoil with moisture really easily, the tube has a dehydtaion thing in the cap.boy do they work as weve been having major heat waves this last week...

Not practical in a go bag, but a cold raw potato with salt on it is really helpful to eat when you start having heat exhaustion! And put a pair of shorts in that bag, lol

I have a suggestion for you, take a wipe or something and seal it with mint on it, because a wet rag with mint when it is hot is very cooling. Kinda like icy hot, without the hot. Ot you can put int extract in a small water mist bottle to spray on you and cool yourself a little.

Good kit. Good presentation. My 2 cents: Swap out the plastic filter bottle, collapsible pot, pocket stove and fuel. Replace with Grayl Titanium filter bottle and more ready to eat calories (no need to cook from a 3 day kit if you have water purification redundancy and ready to eat calories). Keep the road flares in your car, not your pack. Replace large fire starters with something light and compact like Pathfinder Mini Inferno. Ditch the heavy bolt cutters and replace with a multi tool that has good wire cutters.

@brawndothethirstmutilator9848 Old backpacker here. I kept thinking of lighter options while he was going through his pack. I use my camping gear as my emergency kit. I keep a fully loaded daypack in the back of my car at all times. I could easily live a few days with what's in there - and it weighs about 8#. I wouldn't be comfortable, but I would survive. If we had to run, all I'd have to do is pack some clothes, paperwork, cats, and grab 3 small totes. In 40+ years living in hurricane country, we've always been able to shelter in place.
@raphmaster233 ай бұрын
Grayl are not worth the weight for the amount of water they can carry, i say swap that out with a couple Smart Water bottles, and a sawyer filter which can screw directly onto that bottle.

I like how you came up with an entire ecosystem based on preparedness and mobilization. I do this too and I feel like alot of others fail to see if this way. Which isnt wrong, just a different way of thinking. The Go Bag is different from the Get Home Bag is different from the Bug Out Bag (which is at home). They all work together in harmony and most of the time the Go Bag can be carried with the Get Home Bag for more sustainment along the way without too much extra weight.

why only 670 subscribers, awesome videos. here in the UK most of our kits are weather/protection orientated, a lot of things in this video are to protect against heat/insects, we often have those PLUS cold weather. i remember cycling on a sunny may morning in shorts, and 2 horus later it was snowing. ive slept several times on train station platforms and similar places, unexpected overnight stays at peoples houses, and a lot of BOB/Go bag gear is applicable to a wide variety of scenarios....more specialist things like firearms, satellite tracking devices have less use compared to every day situations....so some people might laugh at having toothpaste in a kit, for some people it would be be usefull, i keep it in a car hygiene kit and ive used several times, ive never needed to use any of my fire making stuff in my car kit, my leatherman and tools I use daily.
