Love this tune but it definitely sounds derivative of Motown/HDH girl group sound.

His first top twenty hit and unfortunately one of his least known songs showed his range that he didn’t play it safe just performing r and b songs.

I would add this to the list of versions of "Spanish Harlem" that knock me out: Ben E. King's original, Aretha's funk/soul workout, and now Augie Moreno's exquisite West-Coast take.

Nice version of a classic tune. Such a shame Goldstar no longer exists, as the Motown studios still do.

This a great, new-to-me song. Should have been a hit. I could hear either the Walker Brothers or Righteous Brothers singing this also.

What a terrific record, Anthony! I never knew that Jerry Walker was a Righteous Bros stand-in for those years. His voice is every bit as good as Bobby Hatfield's, being remarkably similar in timbre, tone and upper register-capacity. "Turn To Me" would have been an even more outstanding single, had it been shared with Bill's husky, deeper tones. Thank you for posting it for us. 'Lies' is an all-time favourite and still a 'staple' of many Oldies stations, its appeal being enjoyed by today's generation.

Long time no hear, thanks for posting real country. I vaguely think I remember the flip side of this 45 was a cover of Carl Smith’s ‘Are You Teasing Me’, also a good cut. Margie was married for a while to Doyle Wilburn but I’m not aware of any records they made together although she did sing with the Brothers on their TV show. For sure her best known song was her biggest hit ‘Poor Old Heartsick Me’ which became identified with her for the rest of her career.

Like what he did with Connie Stevens, Thom Bell tailored this gem to suit the voices of Darlene and company. The only constant from the Delfonics' original is the drum work of the great Earl Young - who, like Darlene, is one of the few surviving folks from this session.

If you like Ray Price singing harmony with Skeets, another favorite is ‘Where You Go (I’ll Follow)’. If you like a little variety you can hear Johnny Paycheck (then Donny Young) singing the tenor on ‘You’re Not Wicked, You’re Just Weak’.

Worship Darlene Love and love hearing the Blossoms on background on countless records. This pre-disco item is listless and dreary despite the flashy production and talent involved. Bit of a shame.
