I think the age of kids going to school should be 8 or 9
@chrispleasantable2 жыл бұрын
This not only happens when a child is being dropped off at school, it could also happen when a child is either being dropped off at the house of a relative (grandparent, aunt, uncle or cousin) or being left at home with a relative or family friend (babysitter).

My 4.5 year old just started preschool last week, I've stayed home with him since he was born. The first day, he was excited to play...every day since he's been crying at home begging me not to take him to school, saying he doesn't like school. I've tried positive affirmations, letting him know he's safe, but he just says mainly that the beds aren't comfortable and he doesn't want to nap. He's making himself sick worrying at home, and it's breaking my heart for him. I'm watching videos and reading ways to help him, but need advice.

What is the best thing a parent can do when they drop their child off on their first day of prek? Thank you
@user-vi6zj1ir4k3 жыл бұрын
As a preschool teacher of 3 years I suggest when you drop off to do so quickly. I know it’s hard especially when your child cries but it is best for their adjustment to know that when we come to school our mommy and daddy leaves but will come back to pick them up in the afternoon. Often times when my parents linger around during drop off the child will have a more difficult day then if they dropped off quickly. Just a tip in my experience:) also, teachers should be there to help calm your child down. Good luck to you and your little one:)

My son just started headstart yesterday. He has never attended daycare or even been to a babysitter outside of our home. He is refusing to sit down during story time, follow directions or pick up his toys. He does all of these things at home. He smacked his teacher in the face yesterday when she insisted he stop playing and go sit down. I'm sure she was trying to force him. Today his teacher called jome saying he was refusing to keep his mask on and would have to put it back on his own face because they couldn't do it for him because of germs. Its difficult for him to put it on his own face. He isn't this misbehaved at home and I don't know what to do. He doesn't have behavioral issues normally and is being disruptive in class. I don't know what to do! When I mention he is just 3 years old the teacher rebuttals with the statement that all the other kids are listening. The class has 3, 4 and some 5 year olds. My thoughts are that he has to stay and learn to behave and listen to the teacher and his new environment. I can keep him home for another year but I really feel that he can benefit greatly from being in school. Your advice would be greatly appreciated!

My son has such a hard time transitioning.. he’s been in school for months but every morning he refuses to go in to his class. I try so hard to ensure him I will be back, I try and to engage his mind to what toys he will play with in his class. But nothing ever helps.

At what age children go to school?
@Caroline84fighter5 жыл бұрын
Personally, I don't think children should be put to daycare before age 3 or 4, because it disturbs the attachment. I have read Gordon Nefuelds book, and it really made me understand why being different in my school was seen as a threat. Its called peer orientation. But if you don't afford to have your toddler home, do what you can when you are at home with him or her to keep your attachment as good as possible, let them sit on your lap, read books with them, sing with them, as much as possible hugging and physical closeness so they feel your love. As a preschool teacher it is important to let the baby cry and not distract it, or she or he will learn to escape his or her emotions. Just comfort as much as they need comfort. Safe teacher= safer child.

Well if the U.S. govt cared about it's citizens they would have universal paid leave to allow that but for most people having a child in childcare of some kind is gonna happen by 1 years old.
@Caroline84fighter3 жыл бұрын
@@aangitano I know ! Many in Sweden have to leave kids to kindergarten too despite payed leave since it's only a year.. I suppose a nanny or similar is the best choice in that case. And to keep loving them kissing them and winning back the attachment as much as possible while at home with them. I suppose you must work a bit harder to keep the attachment as safe as possible between parent and child when separation too soon is impossible to avoid.. my sister had to put both of her boys to preschool before age 2 and she and her boyfriend do well with the attachment at home, they do stuff together as family, bake, play, go to vacation trips etc. The biggest danger is when parents and kids choose to live in two different worlds and don't spend time together and working with their attachment at all and kids raise other kids instead of parents.

Great Video! I have personally admitted my 3 year old in Nordic International School (Nordicinternationalschool.pk). In Start he use to cry a lot when we use to drop him at school but now he loves going school. Nordic is one of the best pre school in Lahore, Pakistan in my opinion.
@Fascinatingfacts776 жыл бұрын
My experience.I was very happy when I found there is a free blende pre K school near my house . I joined My baby who just turned 3 . During orientation I was walking with my kid. The principal and asst principal were greeting everyone, when I was next on line , both principal and ass Principal turned in different direction and looking their phone .it was just a start. I didn't mind that. I walked away to the next booth Pickup drop information. I sent my kid just turned 3 to the blended pre school nearby in USA . Almost all teachers were polite and kind. I was very curious and see group app pics that day to see how my kid was doing . All kids pics except my kid .i asked teacher where is my kid and whether my kid is ok.I know my kid is quite but she participates in class works interestingly .But Teacher said it is kids responsible to come and sit. (As if 3 yr old shud be very responsible?). Also she secretly bullied me called me names hungry ladybug.also next day holloween craft she cut like a middle finger paste on paper and draw "U" in the border and make my kid to hold with that picture while other kids holding pumpkin photos and posted on group app. After she abused my innocent kid like that and She set my kids iPad password as "sheep". She insulted me in the field trip. Point is I am old and smart enough to know I was being bullied by a racist psycho teacher.. Even tho other teachers are polite and kind, and not aware of knowing this .I stopped my kids school and homeschooling my kid. I am typing this to lighten my heart. The terrible thing is other kind teachers might not know the truth or wrongly informed. It is always good to hear the two part of story and decide. For example . If a person point out an apple and say it is a pear, no one is fool enough to believe it blindly. At least they use their own conscious to just see it. One thing is for sure. If only the head is straight, then a tail will be going in a right direction. If a head itself in a wrong direction, then the tail will be in wrong direction inevitably. Even though I like to send my kid to free school, I am really scared . Becoz of some gossiping teachers ,this incident affected my other kid who is in same district connected school .where her class teacher keep giving her whole month lunch detentions for no good reason in the end of year and mentally torture her. In repot card she put ( Positive relationship with school-NA means not improved ) Mental abuse of the kid by a teacher to take on their parents is also a sin. Poisoning other good teachers by gossiping is the disgusting behavior. Point is , if someone gossip, it is foolish to believe it right away.and take revenge on innocent souls. Everyone must understand. Plz don't think just becoz you have power , you can do anything you want and no one is watching . I 100% know there is GOD and he is watching and waiting for the right time to teach a lesson to the vengeful ones. Thank you

Waheeda Abdul Rahman it will take a while sometimes. This is normal. She will settle in. What is your drop off routine at the child care center? How long does it take for ypu to drop her off? This should be done quickly. Do not hang around. Drop her off, say good bye, I love you and Ill see you soon. Then leave. This will help. Micha

Perhaps she hasn't established an attachment to her care giver. This is really important for her to feel safe. Is there a way you can observe how her care givers interact with her? Not all people get along, I've noticed my own child and other children at my place of work be very selective about which adults they like to be around or not. Does your child like and trust the care givers at the school? Leaving this here for future visitors as the original comment was 5 years ago
