First - understand this If you work in a supply depot in Oklahoma you can go to Airborne school. One school in Ft. Benning GA. Only a limited number of classes being held so the entire US Army has to share the available slots. So an Army truck driver serving in a NON-Airborne unit in Oklahoma would probably NOT be slotted for Airborne training even if the soldier requested it. Right? A soldier can REQUEST Dept of Army Sniper school, Air Assault school, Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape school, whatever you want... whether your unit actually has a slot available or chooses to use that slot on you is another matter. Having said that... if you go to Airborne school, (and graduate) you are awarded a set of "jump wings." This badge is worn on your uniform for the rest of your career. It says "I passed Airborne school." WEARING THE (maroon) BERET says "I don't serve as a maintenance tech in a transportation unit, I serve in a unit with active "jump status." In other words the army would actually call on this unit as needs dictate for airborne ops in a real world situation. They are not going to call on the transportation unit in Nevada to conduct an air drop. The 82d Airborne has people for that. Right? Make sense? If you are wearing (officially) a maroon beret you are serving in a unit on active jump duty. You have to complete a jump once a month (or so) to maintain that jump status. Everyone in the unit. You don't go to Airborne school and get a beret, you get the jump wings badge. So Beach Head is active airborne if he wears a maroon beret (red). NOT serving in a Ranger battalion. But I thought he was a Ranger? Aren't Rangers airborne? I thought they were "Airborne Rangers?" Yes they are. To be a Ranger you have to be Airborne QUALIFIED (graduate jump school, get the badge) and are on active jump status. But if you complete Ranger school and receive a BLACK beret you are NOT going to wear a maroon Airborne beret believe me. You are going to wear the BLACK Ranger beret. So... what about Stalker? He wears a green beret? Whats up with that? Stalker is called a Ranger and has Ranger experience, training, etc, but must be assigned to one of the US Army's Special Forces Groups. They are the only units allowed to wear the famous "Green Berets." But in GI JOE... you can wear whatever you want. You are not US Army. Wear whatever, carry whatever weapon, get ALL the chicks!! Those 80's visors were kinda GI Joe trademark for me. I was used to Star Wars Kenner and when Joe came out I thought the articulation and backpacks and removeable helmets were AMAZING. 4th grader me was very impressed!! Thanks Kill-Shot, love your viddies

Infantry are basic soldiers and calvary were soldiers that rode horseback. Now calvary can ride in vehicles like Bradley Fighting vehicles aka tanks and helicopters. Still a nice video and just wanted to give some information

Because of the original figures’ designs I still assume that the marking on the helmet and the silver logo designates an officer even though it might be packaged as a trooper. I got one of these at a convention, wish I’d bought it at DG!

The characters like this drive me crazy. I feel like this kind of figure ruined the army man vs terrorist army vibe. Gimmicks (that worked I guess) that were out of place in the original "intent" or universe they started in '82-'83(?). But that's just my purist view. Some of the collectors love them more the zanier they got. Stalker was my first and favorite. I dug Firefly too. Still do pretty much. Thanks for another great video Kill-Shot!
