0:32 adds - and is not in fact a reference of the Illuminatis. Just wanted to point that out as people do sometimes pronounce it that way. Keep up the great work Dustin and parents watching this know that your child is in good hands and under the leadership of a youth leader and ministry who really cares about their spiritual well-being and is helping to shape them up into the next generation of the church body in a way that truly embodies the commands of 1 Timothy 4:12. Blessings! Vanya sulie!

The world is changing and things that used to be simple to deal with are becoming harder. Things that were frustrating are becoming downright impossible to deal with. But part of the reason for that is people have become very entitled and lack grace. Most of the things I'm hearing in this video are common to all matriculating students at ANY college. Never will you find a perfectly smooth college entrance. If you believe you have it's more likely that you've given them some grace. You have to do that in life. Everyone does. You say you are not making this video to bash Moody, but that is exactly what you are doing. I know very little about Moody, their curriculum, or the students who go there. Wikipedia tells me the Institute prepares students for an evangelical lifestyle. Part of that lifestyle will include sacrifice. Students will have to sacrifice the comforts they grew up with and with each sacrifice will come a test from God. Ask yourselves: if God were to put it on your hearts to head to the mission field in Africa and you had to give up WiFi for six months at a time or coffee and comfortable bed for the duration of your time there with little to no cell phone use, would you heed God's call? Or would it be too much to deal with and you pack it up and head back to the U.S. where everything goes your way with plenty of little staff members to handle your every issue? When you left Moody and when you posted this video you set an example for the kind of ministry you will have and how you will conduct yourselves. I ask you: Does this video serve God and glorify Him while it shows the trials you could overcome through your faith in Him or does it serve the World and elevate the contempt you obviously have for what Moody put you through?

@dustinsmith8865 Жыл бұрын
For sure, personal study each day is necessary for growth. Plenty of people throughout history have never gone to bible school or seminary and have made excellent leaders and servants of God. Charles Spurgeon and Martyn Lloyd Jones being two examples. Since America has so much access to these kinds of things it is good to get higher education if one can afford it though as it helps further equip you.

It’s a great school, it’s just that many have callings to many other places. You guys make it sound like it’s a bad place. But God bless y’all in your journeys.
@dustinsmith8865 Жыл бұрын
We definitely don’t think it’s a bad place but we also didn’t have a good experience. It was a completely disorganized mess and that can partly be attributed to covid, perhaps or because it’s largely student staffed. Regardless, there needs to be greater order and structure for the sake of the students. The dean of students along with other higher ups on staff met with my wife and I and apologized for what we experienced as well as refunded some of our expenses.

It’s really hard to find Christian schools that aren’t business minded sadly. It’s definitely not as bad as others out there but we can always pray and hope that schools such as these will retreat back to the theological richness on which they were founded upon!

Y'all sound like spoiled kids who didn't get the perfect experience so you left in classic temper tantrum style. Life isn't perfect and smooth, there are countless human errors made every moment. It's pretty sad you quit school because you didn't get your way.

In the video we talk about the reason we had to leave which was due to the school selling the housing for married and seminary students. Since housing costs are often double other cities, it made it impossible for us and many other couples to continue schooling since living off campus required working full time to simply pay rent. Fortunately, Moody reached out and gave a small reimbursement recognizing some major internal issues that led to the experiences we and many other couples had. I’d encourage you to watch the video before commenting, thanks!
@emac5432 жыл бұрын
I went to Moody years ago. No one problem like this, ever. Such a difficult experience for this couple and Moody was to blame, no doubt. I thought they were very gracious by not complaining or putting down the staff. Someone really dropped the ball. I'm guessing it had to do with staff shortage, like everywhere. When I went there over 2 decades ago, getting housing around the college was affordable. I'm really sorry it's gotten like this. I love Moody and hope it can stay afloat.

@@dustinsmith8865 oh I did watch the whole video and still stand on my comment. But then again I'm a much different breed of man, one that has survived 20 years living on the streets in the harshest of American lifestyles.

@@emac543 we had a great zoom meeting with the Moody provost and other “higher ups” on staff last June! They reimbursed us some of the expenses which we didn’t care either way. Who knows how different our life would be had we stayed so we are very confident in God’s direction for our life. I am currently looking for youth pastor jobs after graduating from my school that I completed my associates degree at and my wife graduates this fall with a counseling degree.
@emac5432 жыл бұрын
@@dustinsmith8865 I'm glad they reimbursed you! It's good you know Romans 8:28. There's a reason that may not become apparent until later or never. Knowing the door closed solidly, despite your efforts, helps you know that it was out of your hands. It will be exciting for you to see what God has next! My husband used to be a pastor and one piece of advice I'd wish I'd known before we started was to rent for the first couple of years if you are relocating to an unfamiliar place, especially a small town. New pastors often want to buy a home to show their commitment to an area, but you may only be there for a season. I pray it goes well for you both.

They didn’t help us either during the lockdown, we were told by the Head of student housing that our daughter needed to fly back there and and secure or remove her property from her dorm room. We told him we live on the west coast and that’s ridiculous during a pandemic! Non essential travel! He told us to hire a moving company to come in and pack her belongings. Non of this made sense as she was returning there. He stated that all rooms need to be cleared to paint. Four years there she never had a “fresh painted” room! So we paid someone to secure her property. When she returned in the Fall she found a few items were missing which she saw here and there in lounge areas, and her Nikes on someone else’s feet! Sad that they were not willing to help during a major event such as a pandemic. Best of luck to you two!

Your attention is being misdirected. The wooden cross, the crown of thorns, the wound on His side, the water, the vinegar, the mount, the darkness at midday, His prayer at the ninth hour, among others, they are references to the Old Testament so that you can recognize who Jesus is, and what His plans are for those who believe in Him and obey Him. If you want to follow Jesus, you have to repent from your sins, be baptized in the Holy Spirit, and walk the narrow path of righteousness that leads to the Sacred God.
