Coach Bobby Pants was hired to bring Texas Tech back, with the personal goal of bringing the university their first ever championship. His first course of business was to set Time Stamps. Coach Pants wants to line out a few goals each season, with 2024's including: 1 - Win at Least 9 Games per Season 2 - Sign a Top 20 Class 3 - Sign at least One 5 Star Player 4 - Keep Micah Hudson Happy to Keep Him from Transferring 5 - Make Tahj Brooks a Top 5 RB. Coach Pants walks you thru the Depth Chart @5:15 including potential developments at various positions while highlighting strengths of each player. He then runs thru some recruiting basics @14:14 and targets, particularly A. Butt, so he can say, "Sacked by Butt" and "Nothing Butt the Quarterback!" With that, the first game of Coach Pants reign of dominance begins. Texas Tech is at home playing against FCS West, or Abilene Christian. Coach Pants can't believe the penalty calls from the refs in the first series. Can FCS do anything without a black and white escort down the field? Tech holds FCS West to a field goal, which their NFL ready kicker who wears #81 somehow banked in right down the middle. With Tech's first position, Brooks runs for a 1st down. Tech proceeds to march down the field with a clutch 4th Down conversion. Tech hits Micah Hudson for the go-ahead score. Tech's kicker, who wears #99 sends the football sailing thru the upright to take the lead 7-3. ACU then answers with a sideline bomb to go up 10-7 with busted coverage from the guy who wear's #1. Hudson returns the kick for a few years before Brooks busts off another 10 yard gash. Morton moves thru the pocket and picks up another first down before Brooks jukes an ACU player for another gain of +10. Morton then nails Conyers at the goal line with Brooks diving in for the go ahead score. ACU's George Littlejohn scanters up the middle to increase his YAC to an absurd level. Tech finally breaks thru with Dylan Spencer's sack triggering a punt and stadium pulse. Morton shows his athleticism on a QB scamper before Hudson gets a long jet-sweep setting up a 2nd and 1 conversion to TE Conyers. The refs then call intentional grounding to impede the dynasty. #99 squeezes in a FG to make the game 17-10. ACU's QB claps his hands and delivers a flat route that goes nowhere, only so Littlejohn can continue to shred the defense. Edit, Stockdale. Tech forces a 4th and 3 where ACU elects to go for it. Tech blitzes and gets burned on a draw. ACU the sends Stockdale in for the tying TD. Tech answers with a massive strike to Kelly, with a play that looks like it came from the Leach/Kingsubry Air Raid Offense. ACU answers by continuing to move the ball rather effortlessly, I assume they have a great player's lounge. Facing a 3rd and 12, Tech holds ACU to a checkdown and FG. Tech takes possession and marches down Cody Campbell Field with QB scrambles and then hits another massive RAC to Kelly. ACU takes over and sees the refs extend their drive with PI against Tech's #1 CB, or at least the CB who wears #1. ACU continues to beat man coverage and forces Coach Pants to pause the game and checkout their OVR Ratings. After the pause, ACU goes right up the middle, clearly inspired by the other coach looking at their OVR. Tech takes over with 40 seconds and goes into the hurry up. Morton makes the bad read and teleports the pass right to ACU, who sends it back for 6. With 20 seconds left, we have a 3 point lead for ACU. Tech returns the ball with 16 seconds left in the half. Morton chucks one in a rage of desperation only to see Brooks up the middle for the advancing play. Morton sends a hail marry deep to Kelly who pulls in yet another long TD. At the half, we have a 38-34 lead for Coach Pants' Texas Tech Red Raiders. Tech takes the ball to start hit 3rd and Brooks shows why he is one of the best backs in the nation. Coach Pants preaches that Tech will need 60 points. Morton slowly turns into Patrick Mahomes with another long strike. Tech goes up 45-34. ACU moves into the hurry up on 3rd down and after several audibles, the QB gets taken down the turf, forcing a deep punt. Tech returns to the ACU 40, setting up the short field. Coach Pants shifts into a more ball control approach, only to see Brooks wrapped up by a DT that won vs a +20 center. Morton returns to the air and hits Conyers for the score. Tech his the PAT to go up 52-34. ACU returns with surgical air strikes against the Red Raider secondary. The QB can't find anyone and ACU is held to a FG. Tech takes over and Morton finds room underneath and with Brooks to slowly move down the field. Coach Pants calls an end around jet sweep that pays dividends by setting up the short field for Brooks and friends. Tech goes read option with Morton deferring to Brooks, who is stopped at the goalline. Brooks redeems himself with a long goalline sweep as Tech goes up 59-37. Tech forces a 3 and out before Douglas takes a jet pass in to increase the lead to 66-37. Morton now has 7 scores. With that, Freshman QB Will Hammond comes in for some in game experience. If anyone knows of a way to do group subs, please tell Coach Pants in the comments. Hammond responds by throwing his first pass for 46 yards and the score. Tech jumps up 73-37. Coach Pants puts it in cruise control to wrap things up. Tech wins 80-54. Morton finished with 453 Yards and 7 Scores to go with 1 Rage INT. Hammond goes a perfect 5/5 for 74 Yards and 2 Scores. Brooks took 29 Carries 225 Yards tor an average of 7.7 YPC and added 2 Scores of his own. ACU's QB had a career game, despite the loss. Coach Pants likes offense, but maybe not this much offense. Coach is mortified to see that his Jr. LB Joseph Adedire is Defensive Player of the Week. His 2 Sacks and 3 Tackles in a game giving up 54 points does not set will with the tone of play Coach Pants is hoping to instill. Josh Kelly's 5 Catches for 252 Yards and 4 TD earns him Offensive Player of the Week honors. Coach appreciates this more, but did think Morton's performance was more impressive. Coach wants your feedback on whether you'd like to see juggernaut shootouts, or more defensive minded battles. Up next for Tech is a matchup against Washington St. and North Texas.
