I agree with this 100%. But it can also be a sign of abusive parents. I moved to Florida from NYC at 18 to become a commercial and charter fisherman living outta trailer and working as a repair man for the complex for free rent. While I didn’t have the best relationship growing up with my parents, the lack of hand holding prepared me for the reality of life and took it by the balls and never looked back chasing what I want to do, learn what I wanna learn, 27, certified in four trades, never went into any debt, currently in my own apartment back in Brooklyn with a bengal cat I rescued from a breeding mill. Never went into debt cause my dad saw how much I hated school and showed me trade school as an option. Now that I’m in Brooklyn again I’ve come back to help them out in their old age with cleaning , repairs around the house, and do whatever I can for them

It’s honestly made it hard for me to make friends with people by age because so many are still so immature financially and how they carry themselves. Many are still mentally in high school 10 years later

This is a terrible argument. For one it's poorly worded. I'd take the million dollars and wake up tomorrow afternoon. But for two the argument is just plain weird. Basic existence is necessary to get value and enjoyment out of literally anything, so it must be chosen. There is no decision to actually make here unless you're suicidal.

I think where he was going with it was that you should be that level of excited simply from waking up every morning. If the catch of getting this money was that you’d die, you wouldn’t take it because life is more valuable than the money, so when you say “oh I’d be absolutely stoked to get that money, hell yeah”, you should be just as excited if not more so just by being alive everyday.

Crazy. Was just having a convo with My bro about this. I feel like in so many ways, it is (not necessarily " healthy ", per se) but I'd much rather be in the moment and express whatever emotion/feeling it Is in the moment rather than take the passive route. (A lot of this has to do directly with family) 1. I know there is a hard line within myself in regards to determine at what point am I OVERREACTING to the point of potential problems (violence, ect) 2. I have noticed, through my years, of being the one on the receiving end (from my parents)of them turning up for whatever reason that, If I am going to force myself to NOT get that emotion out, in SOME WAY. Whether it be letting your mf nuts hang and let it be known that im angry or I won't take this respect, ect. It's doing a disservice to myself. Because then that's something I get to take to the bank and deposit in a savings account that compounds like a mf. And there will be a point where the bank is full(terrible example) and you will pop off REGARDLESS. In a much worse fashion because now your dealing with RESENTMENTS. Harboring resentments has been such a damaging thing I've essentially been programmed into doing. Life is such a trip. Literally and metaphorically. So many things that I have had to learn along the way by trial and error, on my own, or by divine intervention and Grace of God. But the truth is, a single parenthousehold has made life on hard mode. Especially when you have 2 parents that are going at it and you are caught in the middle. Society, or maybe some human reaction tends to make it so the father is essentially villainized and Yo. Lol holy shit I just caught myself. Ending rant 😂
