I think it should be called a tarantula fern. Due to the hairy tentacles. Thats what I call mine and it suits it perfectly

Do they die after blooming and once the bloom is done do I cut it off?
@berryfreezepop Жыл бұрын
Does anyone know if the top of each cutting needs to be the end of a vine? I had 2 *really* long vines and I’d like to cut them shorter and hopefully get several cuttings. Is that possible?

Yeah... mine turned yellow so I don't water and then they die. Spider plant is still alive. So. Yep. That's all I get.

This to me is one of the most forgiving calathea too keep. Mine has been outside on my patio getting watered maybe once every 3 days, is absolutely huge. Orbifolia is close to the same as well

I agree! This and the rattlesnake calathea can be a little less finicky

@outsideinco yes, It took me a long time to figure they need a little neglect, people see them at stores and want too baby them, and they hate that in my opinion,

I did that once threading some old nylon stockings through the drainage hole on the bottom of a flowerpot into a hole cut in a plastic margarine container that was the reservoir for water & liquid fertilizer (“Blossom Booster.”) This resulted in literally the BIGGEST African Violets I’ve ever seen; some were nearly as big as dinner-plates! *amazeballs!*

Fyi the mesh around the root sack should be removed asap. It restricts root growth, as the roots develope it becomes more difficult to remove.

I agree an don’t care what experts say, dealt with it too many times an the biodegradable or the plastic plug always ends up being a problem in the long run.

Hi, I have a Swiss cheese plant but it’s not growing bigger in size. I’ve had it for mor than a month, it’s doing great but only not growing bigger! Any suggestions on how to make it grow?
@outsideinco2 жыл бұрын
Hi Leena! It could be just adjusting to the new environment if it's newer to your space. If you don't see new leaves unfurling in the next 2 weeks or so, I would consider putting it in a brighter spot and fertilize lightly.

I have a beautiful birkin. However a new leaf is pink on the corner. It looks just like a pink princess leaf . Have you ever heard of that?
@outsideinco2 жыл бұрын
Interesting! I've seen the Birkin's throw out leaves completely white, some with grey, some with maroon-- so it wouldn't surprise me if you got some pink. That's fascinating, and a special plant for sure!
@cherylvitilio54542 жыл бұрын
@@outsideinco Thank you for reply and answer. I appreciate it. I love this plant, now even more. It's my fave. This birkin has one leaf that's almost a full moon pattern.
@angeliquedevosd4162 жыл бұрын
Yes, I just got a Birkin the bottom of the plant is just like all Birkin. However 1 leave one side cream white other side dark green and the top 3 leaves the size of the leaves look just like pink princess and look copper a little pink. I thought it's very interesting and it was only 1 of the all Birkins at local garden store, so I bought it for 25 dollars. Even though I already got 2 regular Birkin at home. I'm keeping eye on the developments of this Birkin.
@cherylvitilio54542 жыл бұрын
@@angeliquedevosd416 Wow you have a special plant too. The pink on my birkin has faded to a copper. I have a neon pothos that just put out a leaf with a dark green center. Love those surprises. Plant keeping is such a rewarding hobby.
@angeliquedevosd4162 жыл бұрын
@@cherylvitilio5454 not only my Birkin the top of the plant 1 leave haft dark green other haft creamy white. And the other 3 leaves 🍃 the shape look like pink princess but more like copper pinkies the bottom haft of the plant looks like the Birkin. I thought it so different from all the rest of Birkins that's why I bought it even though I already have 2 Birkins at home. I have it for 10 days now and keep my eyes open for the development. So far it's healthy.
