Daycare is 2k in uk and salary of a senior software developer is like 3k. It is destroying us, but honestly being 24h with kids is more mentally detrimental then a job for me and my partner. By spending time away from pur little rascal we miss him a lot by 5pm and have very lovely and happy afternoons and weekends. I used to be so irritable and costantly shouting when just on matternity leave. When my partner took parental leave the same thing happened - from lovely and patient to a bunrout and easily irritable after just one week of childcare. Having no break and no time away from kids can actually ruin your experience and make you a worst parent if you are anything like us.
@collectum-world20 күн бұрын
That is a very, very accurate statement from you. Not everyone is meant to be to stay 24/7 with children. But I still recommend to look at the overall picture - as you say - you stay away but spend more money to keep the wheel running…

Building wealth is pointless. The only reason to do that is to provide for a family. That is the drive that makes us go. But having a family means you loose your independence. You can't hustle so much. If you are not going to have a family then building wealth is just a game. Like any other.
@collectum-world22 күн бұрын
I disagree - family is the most beautiful thing you can have, but this does not come to the cost of losing independence. It is the opposite. With a family you understand that you need to be more independent to provide for your family. Otherwise you will be stuck in a life from paycheck to paycheck…
@generaalsubutai654122 күн бұрын
@@collectum-world I agree with that. I never cared for wealth. Just independence. Until I got a family. Then I needed more money and started a business to quickly make more money. I was lucky. It worked. But now that I am older I see so many opportunities that I don't follow up on because I can't explain them to my wife. My kids have grown up, I own a good house and savings that quickly degrades with inflation. I don't care for luxuries or status. (wife does of course) I could do something about it. But what for? My family wouldn't understand and I don't need the money.
@collectum-world22 күн бұрын
Okay I can totally understand your point now. You are one of the examples who gave it all and who actually achieved great things! Congrats on the achievement 🌹🚀 the most important thing is that you are happy with it. The opinions of others (even if they are your family) does not matter when you know you did the right thing🍀 For me you summed up the main things a man needs to do. If the woman is incapable of understanding it, that is not your fault 👊👌
@generaalsubutai654120 күн бұрын
@@collectum-world Thank you for your kind words. My point really is that the only reason I can think of to build wealth is for a family. Ultimately, that is the only thing that matters.

- **Initial Context and Motivation**: - The author quit their Amazon manager job after just 2 months, emphasizing that not all jobs are worth the time and energy. - Pandemic challenges in the automotive sector led them to seek new opportunities, with Amazon being one of the few successful companies during this period. - Despite hearing about Amazon’s tough work culture, they joined out of necessity. - **Early Experiences and Red Flags**: - Started as an area manager for robotics, overseeing 30 employees, and made an effort to personally connect with staff and other managers. - Colleagues were surprised at this approach, warning about the lack of time for such initiatives-a subtle initial warning sign. - The first months included training and remote work, which felt positive initially, but deeper observations revealed a drained and unhappy workforce. - **Work Environment and Culture**: - Employees faced unrealistic KPIs that pressured them psychologically, affecting even their basic needs like taking a breath. - Shared a story of an employee working hard to support his family and secure a permanent contract, only to be laid off, illustrating how companies exploit fixed-term contracts to avoid granting permanent status. - Managers were forced to fit into a rigid system without space for creativity; those who did not comply risked termination. - **Toxic Management Practices**: - Managers who prioritized system optimization, often at employees’ expense, were rewarded, fostering a toxic environment. - This culture bred superficial respect with backbiting among managers, further highlighting the hypocrisy of Amazon’s promoted values like inclusion and motivation. - Micromanagement extended to questioning basic activities, e.g., toilet breaks, revealing a dehumanizing work atmosphere. - **Decision to Quit and Final Acts**: - Decided to quit after advocating for a team member who was denied legally protected parental leave. - Quitting was complicated by Amazon’s sign-on bonus structure, which required repayment if leaving within two years, trapping employees financially. - The author warned others to read contracts carefully to avoid such constraints. - **New Beginnings and Reflections**: - Now works at a company that values employee health and has started their own businesses grounded in respect. - Concludes with a message that life is unpredictable, and it’s essential to change paths if unhappy, as growth only comes from pursuing true contentment. - **Call to Action**: - Encourages readers to share their own experiences with challenging employers and follow their content for more insights.
