Good music collection but not all of them are progresive rock like Door CSN or Cream. However good collection. Tks

When I look at the first painting I see that typical cliché of very manly machos and their guitars, holding them like long guns and looking like John Wayne. But that primtive image fits perfectly to the preceding musical era, the Rock´n Roll. But progrock is strongly connected with the rise of the keyboards and the entry of musically way better educated keyboardists into the rock sphere. And that means rock music became interesting, even for classical musicians like me. For them and their bands it was not about being the cowboy or the killer - like Jerry Lee - or about a macho image or making music, that anybody wanted to dance to. No, it was solely about music and its development and nothing else. It´s like Trump for Rock´n Roll vs. Jasmine Crockett for prog, translating it to the political sphere. So back in the days Uriah Heep, Blind Faith, Cream, Deep Purple, CS&N, Hawkwind, The Band, The Doors, The Moody Blues, The Strawbs, Velvet Underground and Traffic were not acknowledged as progrockers at all. In some cases they were the poor man´s version of progrockers, in other cases they were just pop bands and nothing else. Among prog there were only a few bands that reached a musical climax and imho they all were topped by ELP. Instead of that infamous Lucky Man you should have chosen Tarkus (the piece), Toccata and Jerusalem. Besides - the band Gentle Giant is sadly missed in your list and so is The Nice. - Back then there was a parallel musical universe that tended to the Rock´n Roll legacy. That included Deep Purple, Led Zep & Co. and among them Jimmy Page and Ritchie Blackmore invented the "guitar god". Although they were brilliant guitar players this primitive image was the radical opposite of what progrock stood for. But it survived and it´s still the dominant factor in today´s rock music - unfortunately.

A bit off on the years - did you mean 60s and 70s. As a Caravan fan there's 20 songs I'd have chosen before that one, and it's a sort of unwritten rule to stick to one track per band. But some excellent stuff here - some familiar and some not. Pretty pics are a bonus.
