This brought tears in 1995 when I first heard it when my daughter was in the band. It still does.

WOW....WOW...WOW......... That was such an incredible and powerful experience to be there and see that... and participate. I couldn't see very well at the time, partly from being in the balcony, and partly from the tears. It was awesome! It moved everyone.... the pauses were SILENT.....Mr. Noble will be missed for sure...... But I feel he was lovingly channeled by DR Last for one final performance......Incredible. How fortunate all of you who could participate in this were. This is something I will not forget. Thank You for posting it Linda.... It gives me goosebumps....

It is a reflection of the values of a much different era that's for sure - hence why one must perform with a certain amount of sarcasm... :-)

I'm singing this in my choir at Campbell University. Love the music, hate the text. It's so sexist.

Ms. McLeod has her music available via "sounz.org.nz/contributor/composer/1071.com." The composition the choir performed was very lovely - the language, too, was much like Italian with its open vowels.

This and the other two Maori songs we did are so fun and quirky and interesting...thaks Miranda for bringing them to the US for us! Jenny McLeod must be a fascinating person.

This must be what choirs do now, but I'm 57 years old and have never sung it. To my great regret. Would love to.

@drkknight27, Aaron Copland is probably better known for orchestral compositions. "Stomp Your Foot" is actually an excerpt from Copland's opera (which also met mixed reviews in its time), "The Tender Land." This particular choral arrangement is one which probably nearly every choral singer has sung once or twice since about junior high school.

If this is Copeland's best work. This is terrible if my choir would do mostly this stuff they could count me out. Pee UUU

Great! Good luck on your performance. Copland certainly intended for it to be a little "tongue and cheek" with the interaction between the roles of men and women.

not a recording of ours...we did record it in the recital hall in jensen...and we did get her album with a picture of us in the center fold...it was neat....i know nothing about the summer tour tell me more!
