It's amazing that over 110 years ago, a Colt 1911 survived harsh government testing of 6000 rounds without a single misfire. And that was with ammo that was not as good as today's options. And here we are all this time later and Colt can't make their almost $2000 Colt 1911 reliable, getting 15 misfeeds or misfires out of 426 rounds. A pistol should be reliable from round 1 with good ammo and magazine. There's a reason I carry a 50+ year old 1911 or Sig P210. They were made to last, made to easily repair, and made to do their job reliably.
@SurvivalOnPurpose20 сағат бұрын
To be fair, 110 years ago they used ball ammo (FMJ) and I had no issues (that I remember) with FMJ in this one either. I just had less all around issues with the Tisas.

I’ve been carrying the Razorback for about five years now. I do not leave home without it. I would trust my life to this knife any day of the week. A lot of people are in here, complaining about the price. I would say to those people, how much is your life worth?
@SurvivalOnPurpose22 сағат бұрын
To be fair, I'm sure there are other knives that cost less that are just as capable. Heck, I have reviewed some of them. But I really like my Razorback and I'm not sorry I bought it. What is interesting to me is that so many people feel the need to denigrate something that costs more than they want to spend and even insult those who decide it is worth the price to them. The only reason I can see for that is rooted in envy.

Yep, the Copenhaver is more user ready out of the box. As other have said, the tip is a personal preference but us "Americanos" normally want that sharp tip. The way the blade was sharpened on the Copenhaver is typical of South American machetes. Razor near the handle and more or less chopping sharp near the tip. The wood handle is more or less a "Do it yourself" project. Tramontina sells blade blanks for people who make their own. I like that forward lanyard hole in the Copenhaver. I guess you would need to drill your own in the stock version.. Excellent job sticking the Copenhaver. It was light years better than stock in the rotation test.
@KnifeChatswithTobias2 күн бұрын
To be Honest, This is about what I expect from a $20 Machete, straight from the box. You're going to need to put an edge on it and you can probably do that with a stone from the creek. A lot of people will profile to edges on a machete. The bulk of the blade will be at a chopping edge for cutting branches. But about three inches of the blade near the handle will have the hair shaving edge for the fine detail work. As the handle is wood, you can also sand it down to fit your hand just right! Most excellent review but I would like to see how it performed after doing a little work on the handle and getting the edge sharpened the way you would like it be. I bet if you were to sharpen that tip you would be sticking it with ease. You've got the knack. Still, very much a fair assessment for the machete straight out of the box, so to speak.

How did the buffer tube retaining pin break because the folding stock? And how did it exactly cause a failure to fire? I’m genuinely curious how this breaks your gun but the other one doesn’t. This really isn’t making any sense.
@SurvivalOnPurpose3 күн бұрын
Because the stock one won’t work with the crappy folding adapter and the one they include is just as crappy as the rest of the set-up. And I am not sure exactly how it caused a dead trigger, but it did.

Just bought one of these from home depot couple weeks after seeing this video. looks great feels great but the condition for my specific one is not the best coming right out of the packaging. The edge does not look too smooth, the sharpness is from from what it performed in the video. It is true that I shouldn't be expecting too much from a 16 dollar knife but still the sharpness in particular is rather disappointing for my specific unit.

@SurvivalOnPurpose3 күн бұрын
Yeah, I could tell when I was shooting that I may have done that a couple of times. But I did notice it and tried to make sure I wasn't and still had issues with ejection. Maybe I was doing something wrong but I've never had an issue with my Mossberg 590 or my Remington 870 (or any other pump gun) so I guess it could just be the ergonomics of this gun don't fit me or something. I'll try to do a follow up and really focus on keeping my hands clear. I'm not highly optimistic ;-)
@kakimotoK203 күн бұрын
I was thinking the same thing, another option is to put on ear muffs. Mine are Bluetooth and I can turn them on and hear well but it muffles guns. Suppressors add another thing that can cause a malfunction especially on a pistol. I opted for a sbr, PCC. I wanted a mpx but they were sold out so I went POF phoenix and it’s not 100% reliable so far so I’m back to probably ear muffs. Idk maybe the POF needs to break in
@SurvivalOnPurpose3 күн бұрын
Earmuffs don't help the rest of your family. Hearing loss is non-reversable. Ask me how I know, but you'll need to speak up a little ;-)

I have a S&W Bodyguard 2.0 no manual safety I carry it in a Mika’s pocket holster do you think it’s safe to carry with a round in the chamber?
@SurvivalOnPurpose3 күн бұрын
The question is not whether the pistol is safe to carry with the round in the chamber, because it probably is. The question is whether you are safe carrying with a round in the chamber. And, to be clear, I am in no way, assuming you are not safe. Just a reminder to always follow the four universal safety rules. It is always very important to protect the trigger from any nonintentional pressure. Since they changed from a double action to striker fired, it is even more critically important. I would recommend that you check out the Hawg Holsters stash pocket holster.
@Mike-45473 күн бұрын
@ thank you for the reply. For about a week now I have carried it by racking the slide ( magazine removed) to reset the trigger and then inserting the magazine so far with doing every day activities the trigger has been on point, and just for reference I do put the firearm in the holster then the pocket. I will definitely give Hawg holsters a try seen it’s a company that has been a my list.

It just seems it may be difficult trying to raise the gun out of the holster with the 3rd & 4th finger because of the holster back. You wouldn't be able to grip with the web of your index and thumb until the gun clears the back of the holster? It appears that the gun is initially being raised by the "tips" of the 3rd & 4th finger. With a standard IWB or OWB, all 4 fingers and web of the thumb are around the gun grip on the initial draw.
@StevanOutdoor4 күн бұрын
Don't blame the tool if you totally lack the skill. The wooden handle being a bit bigger than the steel is on purpose because it can get bloody hot out there and you don't want to touch the steel. For this same reason they sunk in the rivets. The blunt tip is on purpose also. Expectation is the mother of diappointment but it gets funny if you don't understand the tool and it's function. I've been to South America and Asia and have seen 6 years old kids (even girls) handling a machete like a pro. You have no clue on how to handle a machete. I probably have some 30+ machetes from all over the world and this simple Tramontina is still one of my favorites. I actually have a video where I modified an even cheaper model Tramontina and used it in the kitchen to slice all kind of vegetables including mushrooms. With the exeption of people like Joe Flowers Americans just have no clue about how to use a machete.

Our get home bags are quite similar. I live far enough away to where one overnight somewhere is pretty much a given, and my trek will be much more rural/suburban, so that drives some of the minor differences. I've reached an age where playing Spec Ops Ranger Commando is no longer an option [as if it ever were], so every piece of gear in my bag has to serve a legitimate purpose (and hopefully multiple purposes), rather than just look cool. I've seen people who've absolutely convinced themselves that esoteric stuff like night vision goggles belong in their bag, and they'll defend that decision to the death. More power to them if they want to haul all that gear around. I'll trade that fancy night vision for a shemagh and a Bic any day.
