Evil? On what authority do you insinuate that? The most loving thing I could ever do is teach my children to love Christ with all their heart, mind, soul, and strength so they will have a fighting chance to not be conformed to this evil world that surrounds them. The world is full of people led by their feelings instead of the truth of the Bible. But right, let’s teach them that their life is about selfish ambition and desire, and ensure they please their flesh whenever they feel like acting on their feelings. Yeah, that’s a great way to lead children, and it’s totally not why the youngest generation is struggling with an identity crisis right now. Thanks for the awesome parenting tip 👍🏼 “And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.” - Mark 12:30

Peterson has a unique audience that traditional evangelical pastors might not reach with their rhetoric or terminology unfortunately. Being in academia, he presents ideas in a way that suits his role. Criticisms aside, many people have likely found their way to faith through Jordan Peterson, despite his not overtly professing in traditional Christian language so you cannot say God is not using him. The earliest church didn’t even called themselves “Christians” they were Jews who believed Jesus was the prophesied Messiah so religion is not the goal. Many analytical and rigorous individuals, like myself, appreciate Peterson's ability to reconcile science with the reality of God through Jesus Christ
@wax99

@Nahmean-pe2ri I do agree with most of your statements (minus god using him, I think that is very much financially motivated and angle to target and increase his following). However, I think his sophistry does have an impact on the religious demographics and helps assuage some burning questions. I might not agree with you that he does a great job reconciling science with god since he is not a scientist, he is a psychologist, and his angle has always been more philosophical than naturalist. But I do have to recognize the hold he has over an active audience. The opinions I have about him are much more unsavory than I'm willing to express on this channel so I'll just stop here.

I agree with Peterson's idea about imagining wanting to have the spirit of the Almighty dwelling in you. It's a profound idea that we know we'll fall immensely short of that standard, as demonstrated through the story of Israel. Only the Son of God could incarnate the only true will. In doing so, He provides a justification for our insufficiency. We are grateful that Jesus fulfilled this role for us ❤

Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”

But it's "giving all the wishes of your heart", making life bearable because of the HOPE HE gives us. Now compared to what He went through, no one should bitch or complain. Following KING Jesus is EASY with what is TRUE LOVE. Following Jesus is EASY if you truly LOVE HIM. Once we know Him it is VERY EASY. "Take heart, I have overcome the world", take peace because if you follow me "my burden is LIGHT". Do we not take peace when we have hope? Did He not give us HOPE? Taking the burden of life or the world is NOT what He gave to us. It's overcoming it WITH HIM!! Working at it TOGETHER. If their's "nothing impossible for Him" and we "draw close to Him that He may draw close to us", why wouldn't we HOPE for many other promises He gave us? True it is that it is DEFINITELY worth it, no matter if it easy for the honest and humble or hard for the proud and arrogant. If it's not easy for you then speak for yourself. It may difficult and hard at times, but not as hard as you make it sound my friend. Btw, isn't the tribulation for Christians? Or more so them persecuted for LOVING JESUS CHRIST The KING of LIFE? THE KING OF LIFE! Perhaps you're misunderstanding some scripture brother? And don't remember every promise He gave us to have HOPE for? The best way to have the best within us to manifest is to kill the ego. Destroy the flesh. Crucify it. After doing so, the burden of life disintegrates. Their is a fallacy in your thinking brother. 🔥👼🔥
@iameddieruiz
@iameddieruiz 4 ай бұрын
I find it fascinating that, as a brother in Christ, you decided to attack the foundational understanding of suffering as presented in Scripture. Not only do you fail to use any Scripture to support your points, but to claim that I have a fallacy in my thinking would imply that you possess complete knowledge of Scripture, yet you don't cite any. The real fallacy lies in believing that we don't experience suffering in life. I would challenge you to consider that if your life isn’t hard for the case of Christ, you might not be truly following Him. He clearly told us to pick up our cross and follow Him, clearly implying that we would have hardship for His sake and Kingdom. If your faith isn’t tested then you live in a fantasy bubble while sitting behind your keyboard and typing away. Here’s scripture to give you a fresh perspective, not based in my opinion, but based on what the Bible clearly teaches, which ultimately is what we are after. I don’t much care for what you think, I care for what the Bible actually says. Matthew 16:24 Then Jesus told his disciples, 'If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.'" Luke 14:27 “Whoever does not bear his own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple." Matthew 10:38 “And whoever does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me." 2 Timothy 3:12 “Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted." 1 Peter 4:12-13 “Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice insofar as you share Christ's sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed."

To Jordan Peterson literally every statement is true because discussing which type of truth is being used is literally all he can do. Dude cannot answer the question "if a video camera were at the tomb of Christ on the first Easter, what would it show". He'd just be like "well we have to define what the word first means as well as the word Easter. Can there really be an Easter if Christ isn't risen in some sense?" And on and on. It's the philosophical equivalent of sniffing your own farts.

I really appreciate his perspective on a lot of topics, but I agree that getting a straight answer from him is frustrating, to say the least. I thought that perhaps it’s his way of not affirming things in public because he knows his reputation. But that’s just speculation on my part. I do think he has a heart for men’s mental health, especially in such an unhealthy season in our culture, which is fantastic. But when it comes to spiritual matters, he knows a lot, he has studied a lot, but living in the spirit seems limiting for him. Which is a direct result of him knowing entirely too much about many topics.

How can a person be conformed into the image of god, if they are already made in the image of god?
@iameddieruiz
@iameddieruiz 5 ай бұрын
This is a fantastic question! Thanks for engaging in the conversation. Here’s a summarized piece I wrote about the process of sanctification. Hope this helps 🙌🏼 Philip’s request to see God the Father elicited a rebuke from Jesus: "Whoever has seen me has seen the Father" (John 14:8-9). Despite his close association with Jesus, Philip failed to recognize that Jesus, in His human form, embodied the divine. Scripture affirms that Christ is the visible image of the invisible God (Col. 1:15, Heb. 1:3). During His incarnation, Jesus perfectly reflected God's holiness through His sinless life, qualifying Him as our Mediator. Initially, humanity was created in the image of God, capable of reflecting His holiness. However, Adam and Eve's rebellion marred this image, leaving humanity inclined towards sin and unable to imitate God's holiness fully. As a result, Philip, like all humans, struggled to see the divine in Jesus due to the corrupted nature of humanity. Nevertheless, some disciples, like Peter and John, recognized Jesus as the embodiment of God's glory. Over time, even Philip likely came to see Jesus in this light, especially after the outpouring of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. The recognition of Jesus as the perfect image of God was crucial for the disciples to understand His redemptive work on the cross and His ongoing work within them. The New Testament teaches that believers are predestined to be conformed to the image of Christ (Rom. 8:29). This transformation involves becoming more Christlike, meaning more holy. The process of sanctification begins with the regeneration of the heart by the Holy Spirit, leading to faith in Christ's sacrificial death. At this point, believers are declared just (holy) in God's eyes, though they are not yet capable of living perfectly holy lives. Sanctification is an ongoing process where believers grow in holiness. The Holy Spirit works in them to weaken sinful desires and strengthen godly ones, using means such as Scripture, preaching, and the support of the Christian community. This gradual transformation involves the continual polishing of humanity’s marred mirror to better reflect God's image. God could instantly make believers holy, but He has chosen to do so gradually throughout their lives. This ongoing renewal is described as being transformed "from one degree of glory to another" (2 Cor. 3:18) and being renewed in knowledge after the image of the Creator (Col. 3:9-10). The promise is that God will complete this good work, culminating in final glorification. At death, believers' souls are perfected in holiness, awaiting the resurrection of their bodies. Ultimately, they will reflect the image of God and their Savior perfectly.

Well, thank God the Bible doesn’t say you're a good person! None of us are good, not even one. You don't have to go very far to understand that we are all broken people. Now, if you think that you don't have a bent towards sin, then I would question your sanity. This is why we all need Jesus. Not to tell us that we are good people, because we are not, but because ultimate good is not rooted in us; it’s rooted in the person and work of Jesus. It’s not merely about a book; it’s about a relationship. But here’s the deal: you are allowed to believe in and place your trust in anything you want, but I would advise you to put your trust in that which gives life.

This is spot on! Instead of having opinions about what the Bible says, we all need to simply read it, study it, and lean into it to gain a deeper understanding of what God ultimately did. You missed it by a mile. Before you go and get your information from a quick google search, sit down, open a Bible, read and read again. Don’t adopt your understanding of Gods character from others, actually go and do the hard work of seeking truth instead of just being full of lofty opinions about who God is on KZbin comments. Here’s a breakdown to give you a better perspective. The story of Job is about God’s goodness in light of horrible events for several reasons: •God’s Sovereignty and Wisdom: •Job 38:4-7 (NIV): “Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation? Tell me, if you understand. Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know! Who stretched a measuring line across it? On what were its footings set, or who laid its cornerstone-while the morning stars sang together and all the angels shouted for joy?” •Job 42:2 (NIV): “I know that you can do all things; no purpose of yours can be thwarted.” Despite the severe trials Job faces, the narrative emphasizes that God is in control and has a purpose beyond human understanding. This suggests that God’s wisdom and plans are ultimately for good, even if they are not immediately apparent. •Faith and Trust: •Job 1:21 (NIV): “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will depart. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised.” •Job 13:15 (NIV): “Though he slay me, yet will I hope in him; I will surely defend my ways to his face.” The story encourages believers to maintain their faith and trust in God’s goodness, regardless of their circumstances. Job’s perseverance and ultimate restoration highlight the idea that faithfulness to God, even in suffering, is ultimately rewarded. •Restoration and Compassion: •Job 42:10 (NIV): “After Job had prayed for his friends, the Lord restored his fortunes and gave him twice as much as he had before.” •Job 42:12-13 (NIV): “The Lord blessed the latter part of Job’s life more than the former part. He had fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, a thousand yoke of oxen and a thousand donkeys. And he also had seven sons and three daughters.” God restores Job’s fortunes, health, and family, demonstrating His compassion and the principle that suffering is not the end. This restoration symbolizes hope and God’s commitment to ultimate goodness and justice. •Challenge to Misunderstandings of Suffering: •Job 42:7 (NIV): “After the Lord had said these things to Job, he said to Eliphaz the Temanite, ‘I am angry with you and your two friends, because you have not spoken the truth about me, as my servant Job has.’” •Job 1:22 (NIV): “In all this, Job did not sin by charging God with wrongdoing.” By rejecting the simplistic view that suffering is always a punishment for sin, the story promotes a deeper understanding of God’s character. It shows that suffering can have purposes beyond human comprehension, aligning with God’s just and good nature. •God’s Presence: •Job 38:1 (NIV): “Then the Lord spoke to Job out of the storm.” •Job 42:5 (NIV): “My ears had heard of you but now my eyes have seen you.” Throughout Job’s trials, God remains present and ultimately engages with Job directly. This divine engagement underscores that God is not indifferent to human suffering but is actively involved in the lives of His people. The story of Job highlights God’s goodness as being deeply intertwined with His wisdom, sovereignty, and ultimate justice, inviting all of us to trust in His good character even when faced with inexplicable hardships.

@@robotkai7904 I think the scenario you propose, is flawed in its premise. You're assuming that God's omniscience establishes determinism, but from the standpoint of Christian philosophy, there is free will. If God knows everything that will happen, then why did he create Satan or the World even? If everything God creates is by his choice, where does our freedom of choice come in? We would be mere automatons without the ability to reflect or make decisions. From the beginning, God established the intention of relating to human beings through free will, which contradicts determinism. In the story of Job, we see that God bet on his servant, even knowing that he had the final choice. Jesus himself testifies about the blessedness of those who suffer, which leads us to the conclusion that true happiness comes from God himself, beyond earthly objects or events. Many things that seem tragic from our perspective are seen differently by divine justice, which transcends this earthly life toward eternity. We have faith that his word is true and that we will be rewarded with the kingdom of heaven.

I appreciate the reply. Let’s unpack your comment a bit. The notion that James 2:26 (“As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.”) contradicts Paul’s teaching of justification by faith (Romans 5, Galatians 2) is Biblically inconsistent. Paul and James are complementary in their understanding and explanation that faith is not justified by works (see James 2:21), nor is work the root of faith, but rather, works are a natural overflow of true faith. Also, it’s important that when making statements like “people are warned they might lose salvation,” you can point to specific places in scripture for expanded discussion. Otherwise, it becomes merely an opinion of what you think the Bible says. We need to be more interested in what it actually says, in context. The security of salvation ultimately rests on the finished work of Jesus and justification by faith alone in Him. This removes the necessity of works as a means of inheriting the kingdom. But the beauty of the works that come out of our faith is even more enhanced by the grace of Jesus.

All of the verses sited in this video are good, they speak of God’s role in our salvation and sanctification. However, those verses are not talking about eternal security or whatever it’s called, they are speaking of God’s faithfulness and strength. It is true that nothing can snatch us out of His hands, because God is all powerful. Like a husband and wife for example, the husband promises the wife that no one will take her away, speaking of someone outside that relationship. But if the wife’s heart becomes unfaithful, the husband has already lost her. God is saying that no one can snatch us out of His mighty hand, not even Satan himself. But if someone chooses to walk away, God is not saying He will force anyone to remain. It is a relationship we have with God in Christ.

Where? Hebrews 10 may very well be about destruction of the temple and the fire that would come on Jerusalem, not hell and losing salvation. Hebrews 6 as well. I've seen in depth Greek scholar studies that debunk the ideas that those chapters speak of people losing salvation.

@@brokengirl8619 Just want to make sure we are talking about the same verse Hebrews 10:26-27 For if we go on sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a terrifying expectation of judgment and THE FURY OF A FIRE WHICH WILL CONSUME THE ADVERSARIES. Is this right?

Good discussion, but if one takes those verses out of context, then it can sounds exactly how you are describing it. Here's a different perspective. Hebrews 10:19-39 encourages believers to stay close to God and trust Him completely. It reminds us to keep our faith strong because God is trustworthy and always keeps His promises. The passage encourages us to help each other to love and do good things, meeting regularly to support and encourage one another. Remember who the audience is contextually. It warns against turning away from God after knowing the truth, emphasizing that rejecting Jesus' sacrifice has serious consequences (not that we lose salvation, but that consequences of sin in the life of a believer cause extreme strife) . The text ends by urging believers to keep their faith and endure tough times, promising that God rewards those who remain faithful and follow His will. Here are some other cross reference scriptures that support Hebrews 10 Staying close to God and trusting Him - James 4:8: "Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you." - Proverbs 3:5-6: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight." Helping and encouraging one another - Galatians 6:2: "Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ." - 1 Thessalonians 5:11: "Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing." Warnings against turning away - 2 Peter 2:20-21: "If they have escaped the corruption of the world by knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and are again entangled in it and are overcome, they are worse off at the end than they were at the beginning. It would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness than to have known it and then to turn their backs on the sacred command that was passed on to them." Persevering in faith - James 1:12: "Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love Him." - Romans 5:3-4: "Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope."

Correct. Jordan Peterson is wrong. The opposite of burden is "rest" not truth. Our souls are burden as long as we live, not knowing truth and going through the pains of life. While truth is part of what Jesus brings, he also equipts us with the Holy Spirit which brings us joy and peace. I think that is the rest Jesus is talking about here. For the joy that was set before Him, Jesus endured the Cross. Therefor, the cross is no longer considered a burden to endure.

We have something so much better than the mere absence of law, GRACE 🙌🏼 ‭‭Romans‬ ‭6‬:‭14‬ ‭NIV‬‬ “For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace.”
