jokes on you I love desolate grey wastelands with high rises that obscure the land with fog 💀 jk jokes on me for still waiting for the ps4 release honestly being able to explore without reward is underrated, every game nowadays has fairly redundant collectibles everywhere that youre tempted to pick up or detour for at some point, but then since you picked up a few then you may as well pick up all of them right? I'm sick of that fomo/completionist bait making me clear the 200 sidequest markers off a single map just to not feel any more rewarded after, and regretting the time spent procrastinating the actual main story for pointless filler content, whether you want to do them or not tho most games wont even let you filter certain markers off the maps to reduce clutter at the very least 💀

Oh and Bro, I’ve GOTTA disagree on “soundtrack” On that one…are you nuts?! 😂 just messing; again, people & opinions But dude, the soundtrack of this game is really AWESOME. It strongly meshes w/the sinister & daunting vibe of this twisted world, this “reality” that is perverse & distorted in the Omnistructure …now 2b fair, this review was done during Bleak Faith’s launch, which I know was abysmal. But side, as of NOW??? I am TRULY enjoying this game! No, no it isn’t some AAA Fromsoft mega hit. But for a dev team of THREE people?! & what they’ve done to perfect it…the game is so much better now!
@RagnaRantz4 күн бұрын
You liked DS1’s world design BETTER than ELDEN RING’s?!?! You IDIOT scrub!…🤣🤣🤣 I hear u man, my GOD people & their opinions. It’s all good & dandy when they say theirs, but when “your’s” isn’t the same? Pitchforks & torches man 😂 I LOVE Elden Ring, I mean…how can you not? But there are *plenty* of reasons I call the game a flawed masterpiece; not a masterpiece. In scope & ambition? Holy HELL does Elden Ring have it. & I loved the world of The Shadow Realm. But the “search for scadutree fragments & spirit/Torrent’s ash/buff up” really hurt the feel of traversing open world as I wanted to. The vertically is INSANE w/the Lands of Shadow…but b/c you truly need at least *some* of these buffs…exploration kinda became a tedious hunt. …& Consort Radahn was jst fundamentally a bad boss. It had moments, but it was difficulty for “difficulty’s sake.” As for me, I knew it wasn’t supposed to be a “fair fight” so, I used anything & everything, didn’t struggle as many may have, & didn’t feel bad about it. But I also didn’t have this triumphant, “holy hell…that was EPIC…& here I am, @ the end of this incredible journey” type feel after Radahn as opposed to… Let’s say Slave Knight Gael. Gael is by no means one of the hardest bosses in the Fromsoft lineup; but that isn’t what matters. The battle w/Gael & the bittersweet ending after his death…was glorious. It was an amazing feeling that was truly an *experience* to never forget; not a “boss I FINALLY beat.” I don’t hate on Bleak Faith as much as you, though your points are valid. I see a GRAND future path for ARPGs & “SoulsBornes” from this game’s masterful vision. A team of 3…w/such a dark & daunting yet beautiful atmosphere. & I’ve actually been having fun with it, a LOT! Just imagine if this small team of 3 was funded & backed. The help not to CHANGE their vision, but to help clean it, perfect it…& DAMN what this game “could” be would absolutely be a or “the” next step in SoulsBornes. Great vid 👍👍👍

How many weapons are you using for you to run out of smithing stones🤣? I actually get angry when I loot something and it turns out to be a smithing stone coz I just have too many of those. Especially since starting new game+... I can just buy more. Whenever I'm about to enter a boss room and I have spare runes, I buy smithing stones. Maybe it's coz of how I played, but upgrading my weapons was never a problem for me. And the process of using Larval Tears to re-speck is no different than using Potion of Clearance to re-speck in the legendary action video game "The Witcher 3". In my opinion. finding a map fragment isn't supposed to be exciting, just eye opening😅. I'm surprised anyone actually found that exciting even on the first playthrough. But I agree with you about the dungeons though, those watch-cats were real boring after the first 3. But the excitement for me in exploring them was the dungeons themselves and the potential items/weapons I could find inside. But I'm curious if your opinion is still the same after a year

What makes a game legendary isn't any of what was mentioned in this video though. It doesn't need to be new or bring new ideas. It doesn't need to spawn a whole sub-genre of games. The F-150 is legendary because it's America's pickup truck. It's big, comfy, robust, and capable; everything Americans want in a pickup. The Toyota Corolla is legendary -- and I won't get into AE86, levins, etc -- because it is the pinnacle of reliability, fuel economy, and a completely purpose-driven vehicle. A legendary game just has to give gamers what they want, and do it better than the vast majority of the competition. ER does that. It brings an enormous open, living world to the souls genre and provides a plethora of options for playing the game in any niche the player could imagine. Although DryBlind doesn't think there's replay value, I've played through the game about a dozen times taking different routes for almost every playthrough. The build diversity is insane and you really feel it when a boss that's easy for you is now the hardest in the game. Or a boss that was already hard being trivialized (like mighting Malenia with blasphemous blade). The dynamic of every encounter changes completely based on what build you use for it. Another thing that defines legendary status is metrics. I probably wouldn't buy any Corolla or F-150. If I wanted a small car there are a lot of other options I have in mind, and for American pickups I'd opt for the Silverado. But the metrics don't lie. Those vehicles are legendary because of how many people they have charmed. Even if you disagree with ER being a good game, you can't disagree with the number of people who like it. They simply do, and that is enough.

This game is good, not great by any means, but you sound bitter in this review. Like your ex made the game and you’re just being spiteful. Bad soundtrack? You lost all credibility buddy. You can only equip shields with single handed weapons. The people who made this game should be praised, especially being a small team. I still can’t believe you said the soundtrack is bad, I would never watch another of your reviews

What a strange thing it is to stumble upon this video. Not sure why everyone is roasting this guy so much. The point about smithing stones and having to grind to level up every single weapon you want to try out is obviously a good point. It worked fine in Dark Souls, but in a game this big, with this many weapons that upgrade 25 levels, it's just busy work. Some of the other points are so-so, but I think this video has aged reasonably well. Most people seem to be disillusioned with Elden Ring's open world after Shadow of the Erdtree.

I tried this game in 2023 for 1 hour and dropped it. New try was 2 days ago and well... I played 10 hours per day and finished it. It's kind of masterpiece in 2024. And I know what am I talking about, because I beat all DS series (+all DLC), Elden Ring (+DLC), Sekiro, Lords of the Fallen, Thymesia, Nioh 2 (+DLC), Lies of P, Ashen and The Surge 2. This game is a blast to explore. The location progression is simply one of the best in gaming. And 90% of the downsides that were mentioned in the video have been fixed.

The soundtrack really isn't that bad. It has a pretty cool track here and there. The straight on elevators, stairs, and tunnels are really badly designed though. It's too straight and has almost no variability. They could have at least added in some props to make it look less video-gamy. I really like some of the architecture though. It's well designed visually and has a unique construct as opposed to other games that all seem to draw from bland and overused designs.

Not sure if it was different back at it’s initial launch, I’ve only played the recent overhauled version, but I’d disagree on the soundtrack being abysmal. It’s one of it’s most standout features along with it’s world and art design themes, I will also say that the first half having great interconnecting level design is also cribbed from DS1 as a criticism of DS1’s world is that the opening half has this and once you get to Anor Londo that aspect falls to the wayside. Truly imitation to it’s fullest. Lol.

I gave this game a chance, but I refunded it after an hour. While the atmosphere and worldbuilding might be good, the plain truth is that the combat and movement are abysmal. It’s just not fun to play. Simply moving around the world is a chore.

I have an addiction to good art direction and visual design, and my jank tolerance is pretty high - This game is a Masterpiece for me. The combat is not as bad as people think, I actually really like having a parry and dodge and jumps as valid evasive options, plus the weapon variety is impressing, especially given the weapon switching mechanic - it makes battles pretty good even. But man, the art, architecture, style and music are the main reasons to play this, they really sell the game, and are totally worth the rougher edges for me.

I find the opinion on repeat playthroughs really interesting because I used to feel that way, but don’t anymore. When I first got the game, I played through three times back-to-back to get the 100% trophy, but every subsequent playthrough I felt the burnout and monotony of re-exploring areas I’d already seen, and I found it really hard to get back into the game. However, after giving it a couple months, I came back to the game and surprised myself by not getting bored re-exploring areas. I found this was because I took the game slowly, instead of rushing towards bosses or builds or objectives. Another comment I saw put it together really well, if you are constantly trying to get to another objective or boss, and that defines your playthrough, you will always be constantly burnt out of exploring, and all other aspects of the game. But when you take it slow, without a specific goal aside from beating the game, it feels less like obstacles in the way of the ‘fun’ and more like an aspect of the ‘fun’. At this point, I have over +1000 hours and around 10 completed playthroughs with different builds, with my original playthrough (now ng+) at 200hrs alone, and I’m still not bored or burnt out thanks to that simple change in mindset

This video just highlights that you don't even understand video games... "Only a handful are balanced enough." What do you mean? Are you saying some are too OP so you need to intentionally nerf yourself to enjoy the game? Or are you saying there are only a few weapons that are good enough to use? Both of these options are bad. First, if you think only a handful of weapons are good enough to enjoy the game, (sadly I need to use this phrase) get good. You can pretty easily beat Elden Ring with any weapon in the game. There are creative and awesome ways to make any weapon super strong, you just need to explore the game and find this. Build variety. WTF. How does anyone even have this opinion. There is INSANE build variety in ER. Sure, you can't wield every weapon and have them be max level at any given moment. ER is meant to be a fun challenge, yet it sounds like you just want the game to hold your hand in the store as you try out new toys. Defeats the purpose of the game. PVP. Here you have a small point. PVP is definitely unbalance, but the main reason for that is because ER is a PVE open world game with a splash of PVP. Just like the Souls games. Saying ER isnt legendary because PVP is unbalance is like saying God of War is bad because it isnt multiplayer. The focus of the games is on the world and fights. Hands off exploration. Being replayable for years is not what makes a game legendary at all. Skyrim is a solid example. That game is boring as hell once youve played it a few times. Its the same thing every time. Its legendary because that first playthrough is amazing and years down the line playing it again is also amazing. ER is the same way but better. Souls games are the only games I can replay the moment I beat it. Many others are like this. Speedruns. No shit speed and replayability lose some amount of value when the game is bigger. Again, replayability for playability for speedrunning is not what makes a game great.
