The Spinosaurus torvus are another great way of utilising this series unique background premise. Interestingly they also prove that at least one prehistoric species has a large enough breeding population to be sustainable in the long term.
@ScrubwoodStudios
@ScrubwoodStudios Күн бұрын
Thank you, I'm glad people are interested by the S. Torvus, they were one of my more "out there" ideas so I was worried people wouldn't like them. They are also quite an important part of this series. Also, I guess this is technically the first implication that there is a sustainable population of at least Spinosaurus in the Valley. (I say implied rather than confirmed because of a phenomenon that exists in the PV universe called T.E.D. which distorts creatures genetics and thus the way they evolve after travelling through time rifts. I explain this in S1 EP5 as my in universe excuse for the koolasuchus being too big, though even I am somewhat unsure as to specifically how it works.)

It's a cool episode, but what I'm focusing on is the Spinosaurus torvus. First off, it's an incredibly cool name and one I would not expect. These Spinosaurus reminded me of Spinosaurus maximus from Dinosaur Island, (A fictional species that Red-Sail and Anubis belong to), both evolving into effective land predators. Logistically, it doesn't make sense that these Spinosaurus would evolve into dinosaur hunters on PV, due to competition with Carcharodontosaurids, but DI had the same issue. And while the idea of dinosaurs from the future is cool, I'd only do it this once, as writing time travel is hard.
@ScrubwoodStudios
@ScrubwoodStudios Күн бұрын
Yeah, The S. Torvus are definitely the highlight of the episode for me. I agree it dosen't make a huge amount of sense for the spinosaurus to abandon their very effective niche in favour of a highly contested one. (Unless the Carcharodontosaurids go extinct in the valleys future, or maybe all of the wetlands disapear due to global warming forcing them to hunt on land.) I don't currently intend to add any more creatures from the future. I agree that PV shouldn't go completely crazy with the time travel.

@@ScrubwoodStudios Spinosaurus robustus/gigas could have been an alternative name for the S.torvus. You never want to include pterosaurs for your series? [yes i know you mentioned that you didn't wanted to include them] Yes they can fly away where ever they want to go. But why should they is they can find enough water and food in Prehistoric valley. Maybe they are neophobic. Is PV an island by any chance? Would love to see more herbivores for example like ornithopods like hadrosaurs iguanodontids.
@ScrubwoodStudios
@ScrubwoodStudios Күн бұрын
@@velocirapteryx24 Those are good alternate names, but I kinda like S.Torvus because it describes both their strength and their behaviour. (They can be absolutely viciously terratorial, something you will see later on in the series.) Pterosaurs aren't completely out of the question, I doubt they will be appearing any time soon, but who knows. As to the location of PV, I've deliberately never confirmed where it is, so I guess it could be on an island. I agree that PV is somewhat lacking in herbivorous characters, especially ornithopods because I don't currently have many good figures for them.

Woah. Not gonna lie, this is one of the best things to graze my eyelids. Positives This takes over the number one spot for the culling in terms of episodes. For the opening scene, I really love it. I like how the apatosaur is already weaken, then the mapusaurs attack. I also like how they are on top, as they were in their prehistoric ecosystem. I also like the second scene, glad to see Diane back. Also, Wade? That is a sick name for a spinosaurus. The scenery in hatch’s scene was also amazing. And the inclusion of man made scrutures reminds the viewer that this was once human built. Negatives (Not much.) First off, I’d like to say about the mapu scene, wouldn’t there be a pecking order for them? Shouldn’t the older male go first, like with lions? My last one is the night scene, it doesn’t really look like night. I can get it, that you had to film in the day, but you should have just made of gave it a green filter, and made it a bit darker. But if storyblocks doesn’t have these, then it’s excusable. Comments Maybe I never noticed it in other episodes, but seeing me as inspiration, I really appreciate it. I almost flipped out. Thank you. I know I didn’t upload the breakdown as of Im typing this, but it’s better to release it now than never, right?
@ScrubwoodStudios
@ScrubwoodStudios 3 күн бұрын
Yes. I would still love to see the breakdown. Your point about the mapus is interesting. I have somewhat deliberately depicted them as more of a "mob" than an organised pack, but maybe your right. Keep in mind that night was intended to have only just fallen at the time of the final scene, I actually quite like how it looked, but there are other filters I can experiment with. Your name didn't appear in the credits of the older episodes. Bioniclesaurus and Kikizilla may have inspired me to make this series, but your feedback has definitely contributed to my inspiration to continue it. I felt that you deserved some credit for that.

@ScrubwoodStudios
@ScrubwoodStudios 9 күн бұрын
I assume by that you mean that I included some outdated figures of Spinosaurus, that's actually a very important plot point, one which I will not reveal just yet... After a lot of deliberation, I have decided to name Serrations child Bruce after the shark from Jaws because I liked the reference to the fact Carcharodontosaurus means "Shark toothed lizard." I belive that name was suggested by Pickens Pickens. The other suggestions were good though.

Looks good. The introduction of Spinosaurus is a great way to have conflict with both the terrestrial and aquatic characters. I am going to guess and say that the PNSO Mapusaurus at 1:35 is either a grown Mango or Serration's offspring (which could alternatively be portrayed by the PNSO Tyrannotitan).

@ScrubwoodStudios

I've kinda deliberately avoided Pterosaurs for that exact reason. I don't really want any humans in PV, but if a flying creature came through the rift, why couldn't it just fly out of the valley and start causing havoc? I remember having quite a long discussion about this in the comments of s2 ep1. I know Primal_Films suggested that maybe the creatures that come through the rift cant travel a certain distance from it, but that dosen't really make sense to me.
