Do yourself a favor and use shielded and foiled cables. Else use your old cat5e cables.

I have two GB40's and they work flawlessly, mostly for saving other stranded drivers. Nice to know about the override button. I think I threw away my first booster (different brand) because I thought it was broken when in reality it was just a very dead battery I was trying to jump. Also, a Pep Boys 36-month battery is not one I would trust for long :)
@ColoradoRMN3 күн бұрын
Good to knwo of others posative GB40 experinacel I was not sure if the GB40's battery would still be good after 6 years. And yes, the override button came in very helpful; I had to share that discovery. As for the current 36-Month battery; first time using that brand so TBD. That is also why I got the battery tester so I can confirm current vs rated CCA.

BEWARE,,, Iv had mine just over two years and the console died compleatly. Contacted Ambient and was told its a ' Simple issue ' just replace the AC Adaptor which they were kind enough to offer sending me a new one, however, no go. No life in the Console at all using several wall outlets. Ambients respons was ' Sorry to hear but your warrenty only covers that for ONE year. So, thats that. I think a weather station thats on the level of $ 300 + should be of a lot better qaulity than that ! Iv learned my lesson with Ambient and I wont be making that mistake again. Time for a Davis and some quailty !

Does this device only work by providing power (signal) through the two wires (white and red)? Is that the only connection with the automatic door opener? If so, I suggest it might also work with most other door openers that have a wired remote control option using two wires. Any thoughts?

Thanks for this video! I’ve watched a ton of videos on this and this one is among the best! I’m also in Colorado as well! One detail that I am just not 100% clear on… I have quad shielded cable. Basically I just need to make sure none of those layers of shielding touch the copper, correct? Like I can peel all of it back and leave the plastic insulator clear of shielding as it has nothing to do with the copper core, and that’s it? Probably seems like a dumb detail to ask, but your video is the only one that comes even close to answering it. I totally understand the purpose of shielding and have done a bunch of DC wiring before. Because I’m unclear on some specifics that I can’t seem to find details about and because the coax I’ve been making has had mixed results, I’m trying to understand every detail to make sure I’m not messing anything up and can troubleshoot it easier. Especially since these connectors are $1 on each side, not as easy to teach myself. 😂

Thieves have been doing it for years. Ask your local PD. This tip helps people to avoid this issue until garage door makers address this venerability (if they ever do).

Good video but how the hell do you change the batteries with it mounted that high in the air? They have to be changed every 2-3 years.
@ColoradoRMNАй бұрын
Kind of like doing maintenance on any other item; when you take it down for cleaning every 2 - 3 change the batteries. Interestingly, mine are still running all these years but I am in Colorado and we have a lot of sun in the day time. I will likely replace batteries before this winter to ensure I do not have to do it during the winter.

4:29 I have such fond memories of Boulder. The hot dog stand, I am almost certain, was set up by a family friend of mine, John Hargreaves, back in the early 1970s. John and his best bud ran the stall, interspersed with climbing jaunts into the nearby Rockies. John is still alive, but sadly his best friend died during these times whilst visiting France. Tragically an avalanche swept him off Mont Blanc. This was very nostalgic footage and I plan to return to this lovely place soon. Thanks. Ad altiora!

😂🤣...all you need are snips, connector & crimper...it's always 568B (568A has the orang & green reversed...and YES it does matter)...if you know what you're doing, you use regular plugs...not the push-thru crap connectors...replaced those connectors so many times due to shorting out equipment (wire tips sticking out)...and get rid of the ancient network tester...
@keithsiqueira38443 ай бұрын
I am afraid your terminology is in correct, you are not crimping an RG6 connector in this video, you are applying a compression fitting. You might not be old enough to remember a crimped connection (which uses a totally different tool). After all, you're using a compression tool in your video, quite an oversight on your part. At least, you need leave your visitors with the correct terminology, which you're not.
